This may come as relief to some viewers who seem to have had enough of the Gosselin drama. The Jon & Kate Plus 8 reality show will officially end in November, reports RadarOnline.
Since Jon and Kate Gosselin’s divorce has turned into a soap opera and they both seem to love the spotlight, we can bet you haven’t seen the end of them. Although TLC hasn’t made any official announcements, RadarOnline was able to confirm the show’s termination next month.
Jon has denied the network the rights to film the children and TLC will not challenge that. As of now, the newly titled show — Kate Plus 8 is also done for, that is unless Jon changes his mind.
“TLC has no plans to film unless the situation is resolved,” said the source.
There’s something sentimental about seeing the old picture above of the Gosselin family. Fame is an awful drug. Perhaps getting off national television will be best for the family.
Tell Us – What Are Your Thoughts On The Show Ending?

Thank God! TLC loves to beat a show into the ground But the show has sucked [Hard show to watch I have only seen snippets] [what a cool word snippets is] w/Kate always somehow bringing up the tabloids and then smiling at then camera like she is playing nice
So great to finally see this train wreck end!Jon, I have news for you, since the last time you had a real job/career …IT jobs are now outsourced to India. Should have thought about that before you tried to embezzele from you own kids. What a douche bag!
My thoughts on the show ending?
I think Jon successfully cut his children off from a ton of money that would’ve continued to enrich and carry them financially into the future at a time when his country is experiencing economic collapse, when the jobless rate competes with that of the Great Depression, and when people across the nation, who were once simply living comfortably, are now barely scraping by.
I think Jon has now successfully made sure that the mother of his children will be working full time outside of the home and spending even less time with the children. They certainly can’t depend on Jon to support them.
Jon successfully did all this without having a job to support himself or his children or having a solid promise of a job in the foreseeable future. All Jon is focusing on now is getting his share of the money that was earned in the past. A real vision of the future for his children does not exist for him.
I think Jon has successfully placed a big blank slate in front of his children when it comes to their future. Thanks to him, they may even lose their home. Many, who claim to care so much for the children’s welfare, think it’s fine and dandy that they move into a more modest house. Really? I thought that uprooting children from their home during and directly after a divorce is to be avoided if at all possible. Their home is suppose to represent an immovable solid sense of security they can see and touch. Obviously, Jon didn’t think it was that important.
I am not one of those who thinks the show constituted child abuse, neglect, or that the children would’ve been better off without it. Why? So Kate could work 12 hours a day as a nurse and come home dead tired to the toddlers? So Jon could continue to try and hold a job down as a computer tech? Why is the USUAL ‘scraping by’ and hard scrabble life supposed to be better “for the children”? Why is THAT suppose to be “the American way”?
At least with the reality show, the parents were able to stay home with the children, if they chose, and work together as a unit. Many saw a problem with Kate making a book tour. If her being away for three weeks helped the book make $1,000,000, I see no problem with that. Some had a problem with both of them making frequent appearances on talk shows, etc. Well, that’s what comes with making a spectacular amount of money by having your own show and having to promote it.
Of course, critical scrutiny from the public comes with having such a show, as it should. But I’ve a feeling if the roles had been reversed and it had been Kate out drinking instead of home with the children while Jon was promoting a book, very few people would be heaping blame on Jon as well as Kate.
Had Kate moved out, leased a luxury NYC apartment, became a jet-setter buying a $27,000 ring and a Porsche for one of several lovers, and wiped out a joint bank account, the public wouldn’t be lumping Jon in with Kate when pointing fingers of blame.
If Kate had said on camera that she despises Jon, who gave her 8 children, and is in love FOR THE FIRST TIME in her life with a 22 yr. old guy with no job, who still lives with his parents, and has an arrest record for possession of drugs, I don’t think the public would be saying that this wouldn’t be happening if Jon hadn’t been so snippy and critical of Kate on the show.
I think if Kate had hired a male cocktail waiter to babysit her kids, then ended up smoking some dope and screwing him while they were in the house, few people would be pointing out that it’s Kate’s house too and it’s nobody’s business what she does in private and besides, she’s legally separated from Jon.
I think if Kate had shacked up with a man for a weekend in her ‘party garage’ on the family compound in full view of the tabloid cameras, she would’ve been branded with a scarlet A that she would’ve born forever. When Jon did it, he was harangued about it for a while, but it was soon forgotten when he topped it with something else.
Often enough early on, when Kate left the family to appear on programs to promote the show or her book, she was labeled a fame whore who could care less about her children. When Jon appeared on programs to promote the show, he was a good man trying to earn a living for his family, else, nothing at all was said.
Fame and money changed both of the parents, but it changed Jon much, much, much more. To ignore that, is to ignore a lot.
What do I think about the show ending? I think Jon destroyed a good thing, and I don’t just mean the show.
I didn’t understand that when they went on TV shows they were promoting their TLC show, I thought that when they went on TV shows they were promoting themselves because that is all they ever talk about themselves
#1 – Does fauleigh (previous commentor) work for Kate? lol JUST SAYIN’ pretty one sided.
#2 – Thank goodness. I tried to watch the first couple seasons and I just couldn’t take Kate’s constant negativity towards Jon.
Fame did them BOTH IN. There are two sides to every story and I am sure there are two stories here. No one should live their lives on camera for the whole country to see. Perception is reality. And now, everyone’s perception is exactly that – THEIR OWN REALITY. No one is perfect, I am sure they each had their faults. Jon is kinda goin’ off the deep end though isn’t he? – if you believe what is being reported anyway. It sure seems like, in the media, Kate is trying to stay out of the limelight and take care of her kids. Jon NEEDS MONEY is the perception. I am so thankful if it is true and they are going off the air… they need to get back to just being a regular family – and in this day and age… divorced parents isn’t UN-NORMAL anymore (is UN- NORMAL a word? – sorry if it isn’t).
Actually, I’m being paid tons of money by TLC.
I’m glad the show is ending. Now if the media would just stop reporting about them, maybe they’ll fade into obscurity. One can only hope.
And, just for the record — it’s troubling to see essays in the comments again. This is a comment section, not “write your own column here”. I don’t know about others, but I don’t even bother to read such long, drawn out comments.
I agree with both sides of the argument.
The family might need the TLC show for financial reasons. Jon ended the show for his own selfish reasons (as a way to stick it to Kate). Jon is now planning on starring in his own reality show with Michael Lohan, and there’s a rumor he tried to film the twins’ birthday party for his new reality show.
Jon isn’t thinking too clearly right now. His new reality show will likely bomb/fail. And when Kate takes him to court for child support, he will be regretting the day he stopped Kate Plus 8. Like someone said, both parents will have to get multiple jobs to be able to take care of their very large family.
I’m still not on team Kate, not sure I can ever be. I do feel sympathy for her however, due to Jon’s reckless behavior. Anyone who watched the show in the past would see how badly Kate treated him. She practically put him down and demeaned him every chance she got. It was hard to watch. Jon could have had ‘America’s sympathy’ had he not gone off the deep end.
As for the comments, we welcome long, short & even essays
A lot of people (including me) enjoy reading them with no problems.
I agree. I feel for them all. Perhaps with the show going off the air, it might just the sign of an intervention. Somebody has to be concerned for the children. Both should hold responsibility for his/her reckless behavior. Maybe family counseling would help them mend their past and give them just the right boost for a new beginning. I will certainly pray for them.
There’s no need to dissect every aspect of those 2 idiots lives into a long winded, sophomoric essay to try to prove something we already know – Jon and Kate got what they deserved.. And since when does a moderator post their own opinions and play favorites by deleting posts that they don’t agree with? A true moderator lets all opinions be heard. I’m tired of people on this board bragging about how they work for tv networks and other sites. Its all lies that make their opinion matter even less. Oh and guess what? NOBODY CARES!
whoa!
Thank god! They will both have to go back to work , real jobs.
Jon has definitely made it difficult to defend him, but I have to ask… why do people assume that the allegations made by the likes of Kate Major or Stephanie Santoro, are the gospel truth. These women have made a pretty penny from the tabloids. It’s obvious that Kate has amassed the backing of TLC’s huge PR department and a handful of fame hungry lawyers, but that doesn’t give her any more credibility than Jon in my book. I find it impossible to believe anything that comes out of her mouth.
The one positive in all of this is that the show is ending, and those kids might finally have a chance at a normal life. It really doesn’t matter why it’s happening, or at whose hands it has transpired. Jon may have a lot of growing up to do, but if his actions keep Kate and TLC from continuing to exploit those kids for the rest of their childhoods, then so be it. It’s way past the time for this trainwreck to end.
