They’re back! The original housewives of bravo are returning for their 5th season tonight.
The Real Housewives of Orange County have pretty much been in the headlines for the past few months. Whether it be Gretchen Rossi’s leaked photos, Lynne Curtin’s eviction saga, or Vicki Gunvalson’s trashy bar behavior, It’s safe to say these six women will be keeping us entertained for weeks to come.
The DailyBeast caught up with the OC Housewives to discuss their new season, and changes in their lives. Vicki claims the show has negatively affected her insurance business, leading her to almost not return for the 5th season. “I almost lost a very large client of mine—a $2 million client—because he Googled me and said he didn’t like what he was seeing on the TV show,” Gunvalson, 47, told The Daily Beast.
Bravo promises the upcoming season will address the financial woes of some of the ladies, including that of Jeana Keough, who’s divorce and a down real-estate market prompted her to quit the show to focus on work full-time. She will be leaving the show after 3 episodes. Jeana however reveals other reasons for leaving the show, “I just didn’t feel appreciated by the girls or the network,” she said.
Tamra Barney, 42, will be one of the housewives dealing with financial woes. Her home is currently listed as a short sale, and she has had to let both a nanny and a maid go to save cash. This season will also deal with Tamra doing a lot of arguing with her husband Simon Barney. “He did not want to come back this season, and I did,” she said. “He’s very private and conservative. We’re having a lot of financial problems, and he just didn’t want to expose that.”
Tonight’s episode will show Gretchen reflecting on the death of her deceased fiance, and confronting Tamra about the things Tamra said about her last season. It will also feature Vicki skydiving, and Lynn contemplating having a facelift.

FINALLY!!! Housewives who admit that they’re having financial problems (just like the rest of the country). This is sooooo much more interesting and humanizing than the Atlanta cast, who flaunts cash they don’t even have, then deny rumors of foreclosures.
OMG, I think Tamera is a bitch, I do not think Gretchen is so bad, so just had her fiance pass and she’s trying to move forward. Tamera wont’ let shit go… I wish Tamera would stop being a damn child.

yea, Tamera does need to let it go already but Gretchie should keep quiet… she adds fuel to the fire.. with her lifestyle how could she expect to NOT talk & she knows it. Shes a grown girl and isn’t stupid.. she thrives on the drama and being the center of attention.. personally I wouldn’t be friends with her.
Good for Tamera for extending the olive branch to Lynnie, glad to see they are friendly. I’m happy to see Vickie is the same and her love tank is full again.. Jeana.. I feel badly for her public financial problems, but its happening to everyone.. just gotta get through it.

First of all it is about time Gretchen told Tamara to stfu. Why does Tamara care so much about what Gretchen does? It is none of her business. Gretchen should have shut her up last season, but she didn’t she just let Tamara and Vickie dog her out every chance they got. I think we are already seeing that people who live in glass houses shouldn’t be throwing stones. Tamara would be better served cleaning up her own messes instead of spending so much time worrying about cleaning up somebody elses. If she did in fact really receive this call from Jay (which I seriously doubt) then he is the one that involved her not Gretchen. Tamara needs to handle that end of it with the douch bag that she claims called her and keep her mouth shut about Gretchen and her business.
Tamra and Gretchen both are upset with each other and in my opinion rightfuly so,both are wrong with how they acted with each other and the things they have said. The difference is Tamra will admit when she said something,or did something wrong, where as Gretchen will not., she kinda has a little bit of Nene in her, where it’s never her fault,she is never wrong, it’s always someone eles. They just do not like each other need to stay away from each other period.
I agree with the other poster stating that it is refreshing that with this show the ladies are admitting to problems with money and such and not pretending to be something that they are not.
So sorry to hear that Jeana is leaving the show, Jeana is a sweetheart, maybe she will return next season.:(
I totally agree that Tamra is a complete bitch and looked like an old hag on last night’s episode. She is one of those people who looks older because she is trying so hard at looking younger. In addition, her natural bitch switch ages her.
Gretchen is young (something Tamra is NOT!!!!!). Gretchen is S-I-N-G-L-E (something Tamra is not). Tamra needs to LEAVE GRETCHEN ALONE and get back to her sad life. Good for Gretchen for finally standing up for herself. Tamra is just JEALOUS that Gretchen is much younger, prettier, taller and more financially stable than herself.
The thing I was most shocked about from the show is when Vicki mentioned that Jeana had come to her asking to BORROW MONEY from her!!! What?!! Good for Vicki for not being stupid enough to lend her money to her because she would have NEVER seen it again. The way Jeana spends money and tosses money to those children of here is ridiculous. It’s unfortunate she is leaving the show but I really believe she is leaving because her new lifestyle would not be able to keep up with the other gals on the OC Housewives.
Lynne confused me last night. Why would she rent an expensive reception hall at the St. Regis Monarch Beach for just the few girls to look at her jewelry, eat and argue? It didn’t look like much sense to spend money doing that. And most all the girls seems like they are hurting financially so I doubt that any of them bought any of her jewelry pieces. The only ones doing well financially are Vicki and Gretchen and Vicki didn’t even like her jewelry. Gretchen didn’t seem interested in her jewelry either. Lynne should have spent her money on an extra months rent of her home rather than lunch at the St. Regis for all the girls. Then maybe she would never have been evicted
No one mentioned the ridiculous paparazzi red carpet party that Tamra threw for her kids. I think she wants her neighbors to think there are actually paparazzi that want to take pictures of her and her kids. Even the paparazzi ain’t interested! Tamra tries way too hard at being the most popular, the hottest and youngest looking. She is so fake and I agree she looked a lot older on yesterday’s show. It must be that Simon, competing to look better than Gretchen adn her financial mess that aged her.

This is what I think:
Simon is angry because he is in financial ruin. He is having to downgrade his lifestyle. No one said this but I’d bet he was laid off from his job at Mercedes and that is why he started selling Tequila. Problem is a start-up Tequila biz won’t support that lifestyle that they are used to. For the 1st 3 years most all biz owners should be reinvesting in their biz, not their huge homes and wives wardrobes.
I heard that they get like 100K per episode but I do not know if that is true. I’d bet Jeana left because she was completely humiliated on the show – foreclosing on all 4 of her properties, Vicki exposing that she asked to borrow money from her, and the stress of her kids, ex-husband and her real-estate job. Money is not worth her sanity.
Gretchen is likely dating Slade because he is a leech. He leeches onto women and is super controlling. He picked her up when she was most vulnerable only a day after Jeff passed away. I think she is still not over her fiancee who passed away and I think this whole Slade thing will only be short-lived. Gretchen will come to her senses. She is a smart woman

SunnyIsles– I’m sure Lynn didn’t pay a cent for that little “viewing”. In all of the Housewives series, the producers come up with dumb scenarios to get all the housewives together (so they’ll fight and create drama). They try to make them look real, but obviously it’s a setup to get everyone together and screaming. And it always works. That’s why, on every series, none of the housewives ever say no to these invites–even though they clearly have problems with another housewife who’ll be there and dread going.
I think Tamra is a heinous bitch, but I also believe everything she says about the Gretchen/Jay/Jeff saga. If you don’t believe it, I suggest you check out TheDirty (NSFW). Jay sent all kinds of stuff to Nik Richie to post–tons of pictures of him and Gretchen together, clearly a couple (I assume he was also the source of all the naked pics too). He also has pictures where Gretchen has JAY tattooed on her ring finger (with Jeff’s giant engagement ring over it–classy!). You cannot look at those pictures and deny that those two were a couple (Gretchen said he was a friend-turned-stalker). Gretchen made allegations against Jay and took him to court…then panicked and didn’t bother actually showing up. The case was dismissed and she was ordered to pay Jay’s legal bills (approx $19k according to realitytea).
So…why do people still believe her reunion bullshit story?

I love the housewives of OC. I am sorry that Jeana has to leave and I secretly hope that over the course of the year she will decide to come back. It won’t be the same without her. I enjoyed the cat fight between Tamra and Gretchen. Gretchen is my LEAST favorite wife and my favorite is just a tie with the rest of them. But we need all of them there to make it complete. I don’t like Slade much so he adds nothing for me. Oh well, I do understand that Gretchen needs a man. Any man!
I personally think that Jeanna Keogh was/is the classiest of all the OC housewives. When Vicki Gunnvalson said that Jeanna was “toxic” I thought her true colors came out. Both Vicki and Tamra are bitches, vile women with issues of jealousy, greed, and horrible gossipy traits. Let’s see how Tamra fares now with financial woes. And Vicki – may you reap what you sow!
To Rhonda in Tampa…you are so right about Tamra looking older than 42. On the OC Register blog someone said that public records show her age as 44. Like you, I would guess her to be 50…her hair (or should I say hay?) alone makes her look at least 50. I think she also is trying too hard to look and act young which always makes you seem older, not to mention insecure. I guess it would not be surprising for her to lie about her age when she been lying about her entire life on national TV!

Tamra is a witch. So white trampy trash inside, that she always comes off like she is such a lily white. What balls she has condeming Gretchen–not just that, but she keeps this crap going and going and going. I think she is absolutely jealous. Unhappy marriage, which may be in part because she is trying to be a good girl so hubby will worship her, but its difficult because that’s not really who she is. Boy, if she went to a therapist, that would be the reality show of the year.

i like the show but tamara bugs the hell out of me she thinks she’s the hottest housewife, i dont thind so and for the way they spend money what a shame. i lided tammy and her family she seemed like she had a head on her shoulders when it came to money even having her daughter pay rent and keep it cleean or she would have to move out. she was down to earth, i wish she was still on the show, but then again she’s out of all that drama
