When writing this story earlier today about Jill Zarin confirming that Bethenny Frankel delivered a baby boy yesterday, we were very skeptical and careful to not state this as fact. Apparently, we had good reason.
PEOPLE magazine, a more reputable outlet than our good ol Jill, is now confirming that Bethenny, star of the Real Housewives of New York City and her husband Jason Hoppy welcomed a baby girl Saturday morning, as in today, and not yesterday as gossiped reported by Jill.
“Bethenny and Jason are proud to welcome their new baby girl, Bryn Hoppy, born at 8 a.m. . . . in New York City,” the rep says. “She is a 4 lb. 12 oz., healthy baby. Bryn, mom, dad and [their dog] Cookie are all very happy.”
Bethenny and Jason were surprised by the sex of the baby, as they decided not to find out beforehand. As we reported earlier, Bethenny is weeks early and was actually due in June. Hopefully the baby will continue to remain in good health. Congrats to Bethenny and Jason!
UPDATE: So Bethenny has to deal with having her baby prematurely and then thanks to Jill, swerving off rumors that she had a baby boy yesterday. It’s just shocking that after all that’s been said about her on the show, she would still resort to this. Jill has however received some major backlash from fans on her facebook page. Some are below -
“No wonder Bethenny got rid of you as a friend !! She can’t even enjoy a happy moment in her life with out you stealing it from her! this was not your information to Post,” a user named Summer Breaz wrote.
And Christine Marker added, “You really are stuck in Jr High!! The fact that you announced the birth of B’s baby boy is DISGUSTING!! How dare you? You really do need to seek therapy for your need to be center of attention.”
UPDATE #2: Jill has now removed the post, announcing that Bethenny had a boy, from her facebook page, instead posting this explanation for her major fail faux pas. “”Yesterday Allyson read a tweet and blog that Bethenny gave birth. We were excited and congratulated her obviously prematurely. I should have waited until B announced it herself. Sorry.”
TELL US – DID JILL GO TOO FAR IN ANNOUNCING THE SEX OF BETHENNY’S BABY? OR WAS IT AN INNOCENT MISTAKE?

OK Ladies – I know I’m going to get hammered for this one (looked over the latest comments re: Bethanny having an early delivery on purpose – I have to agree some aspects seem plausible and others don’t).

Lol!!! These comments are worst then anything that appears on the show! I love it. Also, and this is just my opinion, do you, Lizzie, apply those same opportunist comments about B as you do your own sister? The thought of having a baby intentionally and having the baby spend a year in a harness due to intentionally giving birth to an under developed baby is way harsh. But Bethenny is getting Married is already wrapped up. It premieres in June. When she was due anyway. So regardless Bravo could have added the footage anyway for the end of the season of that show. I doubt she did it intentionally for fame. If she did induce intentionally, it was probably for a cocktail. Not a paycheck. lol I do love my alchoholics.

P.S. – Another thought – I don’t think that Jason would allow Bethanny to induce labor. In addition, doctors don’t want to set themselves up for a lawsuit.
Bethenny may be a lot of things, but come on, let’s not go galloping off to crazy town! There are enough REAL issues going on with these ladies. We don’t have to spoil the fun by introducing stupid stuff.
I agree with Lizzie, Puhp, Lauren, Gabby, and Dyana.
First, the comments made about Bethenny say what kind of a person she really is. She would sell her own grandmother, in her quest for success. She is probably shopping for the highest bidder for her baby pics.
Second, the hateful comments about Jill far outweigh any comments made about Bethenny.
Third, besides inducing labor there are other ways the baby could arrive early.
Bravo producers were probably counting on Bethenny this month to tape the reunion shows, since she wasn’t due until June.

Who in their right mind who have been wanting a baby forever jeopardize their babies life by delivering early etc.?
If someone wanted to be induced early.. I am sure a doctor would take every investigation of to the size of the baby vs the mommas frame. A doctor can tell how far along you you, the approx weight and length. NO doctor would deliver a baby that tiny by inducing and endanger the undeveloped lungs..

Yes Beth was skinny.. her starting weight must of been around 100 pounds..
My second child I started at 100 pounds.. My delivery weight was 117 lbs and I delivered a 6 pound 10 ounce healthy baby boy. I did not diet but was just very active.
Not everyone balloons up in their pregnancy..
Now.. if I only was close to the delivery weight now…
I’m just saying..
I forgot to say I was full term with only that weight of me and the baby boy..

I have some ties to an OBG and recently, there has been a big push in the OBG community NOT to induce or do a C/S too early because of risks of prematurity. So nowadays, almost nobody would induce at 36 wk just for social reasons. OBGYNs are sued more than almost any other medical specialty and a damaged baby is the worse kind of lawsuit. Having said that, most (but not all) babies born at 35 wk and upwards do as well as term babies (37 wk and beyond). Maybe a few extra days in the NICU for feeding/breathing problems. Someone would be induced at Bethenny’s gestational age if her water broke because delivery is inevitable and the longer one stays pregnant with ruptured membranes, then the greater the risk of infection so it’s better to just induce and get the baby out.
My daughter, who is looking over my shoulder as I write this, wanted me to write she would rather watch Fan Boy and ChumChum than Housewives.
Jill knew exactly what she was doing. I can see her laughing with LuAnne as she came up with the idea. “Let’s throw a little wrench in this! You know what they say about the power of the press!”

To suggest that Bethenny “chose” to have her baby early (by whatever means) IMHO is absurd and absolutely ludicrous!! What doctor let alone human being would condone that kind of thinking let alone abide by it?….Ridiculous on so many levels!
Truly dumbfounded….to the point of anger because this is so ignorant! Pet peeve: I F*cking hate Ignorance!!!

I apologize if this is redundant as I haven’t had a chance to read all of the comments, but is it feasible that Bethenny might have made that remark about “girls stealing your beauty” after she found out that the baby was a girl in order to throw people off the trail? Maybe she’s a chess player and was laying the foundation for setting Jill up. I don’t know…maybe I’m giving her too much credit.

As far as I know, Bethenny never made that statement…but has made it known she wanted a girl..(therefore her hubby wanted a boy to ensure they’d have more children..lol) I would imagine @ this point it wouldn’t even matter…our babies are beautiful and we are all so fortunate…IMHO! xo

Wow. I’m really surprised at how naive a lot of you are when it comes to women and doctors “scheduling” deliveries. Maybe it’s just my area of the country that does it, but around here it happens ALL THE TIME. You guys must be really insulated from the practice.
Once a fetus has reached 36 weeks gestation, it is no longer considered a premature delivery. Of course the doctors want the child to be healthy, that goes without saying. But many, many women schedule their deliveries — I’d say more women here schedule than wait and let nature take its course. It’s common place to hear women say “I’m having my baby on May 8th” than it is for them to say “my due date is in early May”.
Scheduling is done for a lot of reasons — not always just because there is fetal distress or the mother is past her due date. There can be complications, like with my sister, but usually everything goes smoothly and there are no problems.
And to the girl who asked if I was hard on my sister for scheduling — the answer is yes. I told her beforehand that it was a bad idea, but she was adamant that she wanted her in-laws there for the birth. I don’t like the notion of scheduling the birth of babies. Even the slightest chance of it causing problems with the baby should make mothers stop and think. Those last 3 or 4 weeks of development are important for the baby.
Jill is an insecure, immature, and very needy lillte girl. NO EXCUSE however for her repeated bad actions. She can’t deal with confrontation, she uses fake smiles and ” I don’t really care” as come backs because she has nothing smart to say. I feel most sorry for her husband, who seems to be a really nice guy and gives her good advice that she never takes, and her daughter. They both have to live her. And this is really “snarky” but could someone please take her mother out of that wind tunnel her face is stuck in

Lizzie, you can google that term is 37 wk and above. Simple medical fact. Go to ACOG.org to verify if you don’t believe me. I have a feeling that it’s going to get harder for women in your area to get a social induction for a preemie. Times are-a-changing. And I think they are changing for the better if we now have guidelines in place to protect babies from being delivered prematurely simply because it’s convenient and the in-laws happen to be in town.

Oh come on!!! Anyone who can honestly say that this woman would induce her labor early and put the life of her infant in danger is CRAZY!! You people should be ashamed of yourselves. As a woman who is currently pregnant, I can say there is nothing more scary than a premature labor and there is not a single mother who would WANT that for her baby. I am shocked anyone would even think that. I wish Bethenny, her husband, and her new little addition nothing but health and happiness.
I’ve since seen the episode where Jill & Bethenny have lunch. And as soon as it got “real”, Jill backed off, “I don’t wanna talk about the past”, “I am who I am.” In other words she is not motivated to work toward resolution; perhaps doesn’t recognize it at all. Smart Girl…but Emotional IQ is low. Too bad; Great Potential.
