Nicole Scherzinger Wins Dancing With the Stars Season 10!

Nicole Scherzinger and her partner Derek Hough

Nicole Scherzinger has emerged the winner of the 10th season of Dancing With The Stars! This is the second win for Nicole’s dance partner, Derek Hough.

The two hour finale show aired last night and ESPN reporter Erin Andrews was announced the third runner up, leaving Evan Lysacek and Nicole to battle it out for the mirror ball trophy.

Nicole’s win isn’t much of a surprise as the Pussycat doll is a professional dancer who dances and sings for a living. Whether or not Nicole being in the amateur ballroom dance competition remains a debate, but when all it said and done, Nicole was consistently the best dancer this season. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba even declared her the best dancer ever in DWTS history.

“I’m going to give it to my mom because she’s the reason I really did this show,” the Pussycat Doll, 31, told UsWeekly after the show. “This is for her!”

Nicole, and the rest of the finalists flew to NYC this morning and appeared on Good Morning America. The finale show however wasn’t without controversy as Kate Gosselin returned to torture the viewers with a final dance performance. Unfortunately for Kate, taking time away from the show did not improve her dancing skills. She however seemed to have more fun this go around.

ABC also announced the 11th season of DWTS will premiere September 20th. It will be interesting to see how they attempt to top this pretty phenomenal 10th season.

My thoughts on Nicole winning – Not a big shocker, she did deserve to win because she was the best dancer after all. Do I think she had an unfair advantage? Of course she did, she dances for a living. Having Nicole in the competition would be similar to having a top College basketball player play in an amateur celebrity basketball tournament. Yes Nicole has no ballroom dance experience, but let’s be real, being a pro dancer helped her tremendously and she was earning 10s in early weeks for a reason. The fact is none of the other competitors really stood a chance. I’m conflicted on this because while it is fun to watch the Nicoles and Evans give amazing performances, the show should really be about the Ochocincos and Erins, and about their journeys in improving week to week. And yes Erin was on a dance team in college, but being on a cheerleading dance team over a decade ago while in college doesn’t really compare to being a Pussycat doll.

TELL US – ARE YOU HAPPY NICOLE WON? IS IT FAIR TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL DANCERS ON THE SHOW?
