Yes, Real Housewives of New York City star Simon van Kempen has decided to branch out into a singing career.
Brace yourself as Simon, hubby of Alex McCord, unleashed his debut single, ‘I Am Real,’ on us today via Popeater. I Am Real is described as “a bass-thumping, synth-heavy dance track filled with defiant lyrics aimed at “cheeky tongue waggers.”"
“I thought ‘I Am Real’ is a fun song with lyrics that suit me to a ‘T,’” says Simon . “It’s cheeky and catchy and captures my four years on reality TV.”
Simon’s new song include genius lyrics such as “Gold and diamonds glitter. But the taste is slightly bitter. When wives attack behind my back, they trash me on the Twitter.” Are you paying attention folks at the Grammys!? When asked what artist is most similar to him, Simon states, “I’d say Jarvis Cocker, but I don’t want to be Pulp’d.”

I am sure he was auto-tuned just like Kim Z. and Lu Ann. Overall, I didn’t think it was any more interesting than the other songs from the housewives.

Simon is the best husband, the best dresser, the best personality and I like the music. It’s better than ALL of the other housewives, especially that faker than plastic itself “Countess” Luann. Simon IS REAL! I LOVE YOU and Alex. Thank goodness that she told Jill Zarin who she really is–a high school mean girl who plays dirty and filty and mean. I literally danced when I heard the song and I’ll buy it when it hits Amazon! Bless Simon and all the projects that he does!
It’s cute, but doesn’t sound like Simon at all. It sounds too young for him and he has such a deep, debonair voice. I’m not saying it’s not him, but doesn’t sound like him at all. He doesn’t sound “real”.
I can’t stand him, he is a lazy drunk. He and Alex bring nothing to the show.

simon needed a better producer who would have added female vocals especially during the chorus. the opening sounded like the beginning of lady gaga’s poker face. but this song was FAR better than luann’s.
i think out of all of them, i like danielle’s ‘real close’ the best.

I see Silex has a few of their (paid) peeps on here giving props for the recording. I’ve always given this guy the benefit of the doubt, but now I am completely repulsed. This proves that celebrity whore Simon will take advantage of each and every opportunity to sell himself. No wonder the hotel asked him to step down as manager. Who, besides Alex, would want to be directly associated with this guy? I think Ramona’s radar was spot on in Season 1 & 2, and she needs a tune up because this guy’s a creep.
Go Simon! That’s definitely the best song to come out of the Real Housewives franchise. I have to give him credit. Despite the backlash he’s always taken, he has always been unafraid of being himself, however quirky that may be. The other housewives will have a great time bashing him over this. But why shouldn’t he try and grab a little limelight and make some $ like everyone else on one of these shows. The other housewives do the same. Bitchy Jill will have the most fun w/this. You can bet she’s burning up the phone lines with every Yenta in town over this one. Laugh as she will, at least Simon isn’t lacking in character, decency, and moral fiber like Jill. She actually looks and acts like her disgusting little dog. Ugly, annoying, shitty, and yappy. Wolf.
