After famously quitting Celebrity Apprentice on Sunday night following weeks of yelling, Nene Leakes made the press rounds yesterday! The above photo was taken Monday as she walked the streets of New York City.
Nene’s actions came as a surprise to most fans of the show considering she had vowed to take down her rival Star Jones just a week earlier. And it seemed she had the perfect opportunity to do just that after Donald Trump moved her to the other team as Star stated she no longer wanted to work with her. There are also reports that came out months ago stating that behind the scenes, Star had to hire a bodyguard to protect her from Nene, who made physical threats against her. Whatever the case, Nene decided to quit the show without informing her teammates or saying a proper goodbye.
“I call my own shots in life, I do whatever I feel, and when my gut tells me to do something, I follow my gut feeling,” Nene told Access Hollywood Live on Monday. “I felt like it was a toxic situation for me and for my own sanity and health reasons and everything else, I decided to leave the show,” she continued. “Star was absolutely being manipulative and backstabbing and all those things, but the final straw for me was when Mr. Trump decided to switch me, take me out of my comfort zone to accommodate Star.”
Oh but it gets better as the Nene feels the Donald disrespected her by moving her to a new team. “I felt he was disrespecting me,” said Nene. “I’d rather be around people who love and care for me. I don’t want to be in toxic situations, So, I decided to say, ‘Bye,’ because I don’t think you have to be backstabbing and lying and manipulative to raise money for a charity… we’re not on ‘Survivor!’” Funny to hear Nene say she doesn’t like being in “toxic situations” when she’s usually the one creating the said toxic situations, you know, by getting into people’s faces and continuously yelling at them.
Oh well, Nene also added that she will be in attendance for the show finale. “Absolutely I will be back on the finale,” she revealed.
As for the Real Housewives of Atlanta season 4, Nene confirmed it has indeed began filming. “We’re shooting our fourth season,” she said. “We’ve been shooting for about three weeks.”
Meanwhile, John Rich gave an interview days ago during which he called Nene out on doing the show for personal gain and not for her charity.
“You’re standing there with somebody who’s not on the show for their charity,” he explained. “It’s all about [NeNe’s] attitude and wanting to have all that drama. And that’s been the separating factor. Why are you here? If you’re not raising money, you must be here for yourself. Last night, I was able to visit a 5-year-old St. Jude patient and present a check for $649,000. If Trump fired me next week, I’ve still done what I set out to do.”
John makes a valid point as Nene failed to raise any money for her charity, going 0 for 2 when she was the project manager before ultimately quitting.
