According to a new report, Celebrity Rehab is going on an indefinite hiatus.
RadarOnline states that while the sixth season featuring Michael Lohan, Amy Fisher, and Bai Ling is currently airing on VH1, any new season following that is up in the air.
The reason? Dr. Drew Pinsky no longer has time to do the show. “The decision was made to put the show on hiatus because Dr. Drew Pinsky is just too busy to continue to do the show,” reveals a source connected to the show.
“Dr. Drew can be seen nightly on HLN’s Dr. Drew Show, and this fall, he has another television project he is going to be involved with, Life Changers, which is a Telepictures show,” the source states adding that the amount of time it takes Dr. Drew to do ‘Rehab’ is a “tremendous” amount of time.
The source also reveals that Dr. Drew is hoping this hiatus is temporary. He would “absolutely love to revisit doing the show again in the future when he has the time. Dr. Drew really enjoyed doing the show, even though it could be very emotionally grueling at times.”
Perhaps this could also be related to recent Celebrity Rehab headlines as two of the show’s alums, Jeff Conaway and Mike Starr, passed away this year. Mike died of a drug overdose while Jeff passed away due to complications related to prescription drug use.
TELL US – THOUGHTS ON CELEBRITY REHAB GOING ON HIATUS? PLUS THOUGHTS ON THIS SEASON SO FAR?

Lost track of this show completely. Maybe so has others?
They should think about doing the same with some of their other shows. I miss the old VH-1.
There is only so much one can take dealing with idiots.
it was still on the air?!
damn skippy layla! i loved pop up video as a kid!
i think people stopped taking him seriously after the tiger woods gal came in with her love addiction …
& he put her in with serious addicts ..
than the time devoted to her emotional slops with 911 was prob’ly too much for some peeps’
@5 Madamedummy, and wasn’t the Salad part of this mess briefly or was it just Mrs Salad?
The only reason the so called “celebrities” did the show in the first place was to get money to buy more drugs. The whole idea simply cannot work for True addicts.
6 hiya bryan .. saw only the season with chyna and that blonde chick ..stallones ex ..
very cool person ..
started watching it because of chyna ..
she used to lift & was a fitness freak & was suprised that she had a prob’ …
7 cleveland …absolutely …
the only one who might have succeeded was the blond ..
the other guy on the show just died recently …
That sucks. Steven Adler his HILARious!
@madamedummy, Chyna who’s real name is Joanie Lauer, used to be a very popular WWE wrestler, thats where the name Chyna came from, she has had alot of plastic surgery you should have seen her before she had all the work done plus she was huge she would wrestle the men, because it was ridiculous to see her wrestle any of the women
Chyna also has a porn movie out…not sure I ever want to see that!
I am crazy about Dr Drew. He is a true professional. He had an interesting idea to try to do this rehab show. Unfortunately, it is painful watching other peoples tragic struggles with addiction. On top of it, they all were playing the drama card for the cameras. They are too confused to be in front of cameras. I wish them all a successful recovery.
Also loved all of the counselers. Would like to see more of them. They were top notch.
Dr Drew has lots of other good things yet to come…Love his show on HLN.
I recently watched and saw the long island lolita-amy fisher on celeb rehab. what an immature whiner she still is. crying and moaning. she should still be in jail for shooting that butafucko woman in the head!
Hated to see Jeff C so F’d up. Terrible that he could not get well.
I think most of these “celebs” have run out of money and need the show. My family and I have spent a decade trying to get my brother into an affordable outpatient program. An inpatient intensive therapy program like celeb rehab would cost at least $20k. I’m sad to see it go. For all the drama fame seeking uchitals there are people who needed the help and were hopeless.
@12Chris, no you don’t I saw it she made it with another former WWE wrestler
Dr. Drew has lost alot of credibility to me. Everytime there is a celebrity meltdown, Dr.Drew is RIGHT there on an hour long special talking about Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, so on and so forth. It really bothers me that he has become such a famewhore. Isn’t medicine constantly developing and advances being made all the time? How does he find the time to study up? He’s just so used to spouting off opinions about people he knows nothing about. Basically, he is slowly becoming “dr.” Phil. I miss the days of Loveline with Carolla where he actually gave relevant advice. Now he caters to drug addict famewhores looking for their 16th minute of fame constantly saying the same things to each patient that truly is just common sense. I mean, c’mon, hosting the Teen Mom reunions? Why?
@13 justcurious — I’m with you. I love Dr. Drew. I grew up listening to him on Loveline, and now watch his shows. His guests may be a mess, but he is always professional. He’s no dummy, he knows that his celebrities go on the show for money, but he is there to help them while he has them. And he has helped many of them. I am happy for his success with all of his ventures.
He has not had the best luck with the people who come on this show, I think he coddles them.
Maybe DR DREW could help REAL people and not just used up “B” ….using the term lightly here….celebraties. Dumb. Anyway, I personally thank DR DREW for his help. HA
Dr. Drew lost credibility with me when he kept going on and on about Lindsay Lohan and how she should not be sent to jail. That girl seriously needs jail time to straighten her shiz up. He definitely babies his clients.
I hate how the show constantly plays previews for the upcoming scenes and then the scenes don’t live up to the hype.
I think Dr. Drew is an amazing person. He remains calm during some tension-filled moments. I like the way he talks with people, brings out information from the patients with great compassion and skill, and seems to have enormous patience with difficult personalities. When a patient decides against further treatment after the show, you can see and feel his disappointment and compassion for the patient. I wish he would stay, because I feel he is doing something others are not as skilled to do. There is an obvious demand, but not everyone has the skill-set and the compassion needed for this role. I will miss this show.
I love Celebrity Rehab and yes people can be addicted to emotions just like they can be addicted to chemical substances. My sister is a drug addict and has been one since disco was at it’s best. She has clean and sober times. They can last for days, months or years. Success in rehab has nothing to do with luck. Therapy and rehab are great tools but at the end of it all a person has to really want to be clean and be willing to work through the pain and rough spots. Some accomplish this and some never do. My sister is still trying and I all can hope is that she succeeds. I love her no less but sometimes I have to love her from a distance. Watching someone you love fight this battle is equally as hard.
“emotionally grueling”?? Please..of course it is..It goes with the job..I used to have a lot of respect for him..but not so much anymore..He has gotten too “hollywood”..get back to the basics..
Didn’t read the blurb OR the comments[sorry!...lol]….just the Headline……..hahaha….LOL……He’s LEAVIN’????………GOOD…..the OOLTIMATE FameHO…ho-ho…..Buh-bye, U Schemer Screamer……..whatta Phoney…..LOL…..
i like Dr Drew but this show is horrible. No one gets better, Rodney King just got another DUI, Jeff Conaway RIP … on and on.
You cannot buy sobriety. That’s all there is to it.
Or get paid to have it in this case….
oh come on people dr drew himself even says he is a famehole or fame whore. that does not invalidate his research on narcissists. takes one to know one. he is always calm and collected–he is intelligent and articulate and well groomed and he’s funny.. i would like him for a friend. i think he is caring.
As a certified drug and alcohol counselor for 8 years, I do see how rehab changes lives, IF the client is willing to work every second forever to stay clean. I think Dr Drew appears to coddle his “patients” but have hoped the real and not pretty work is off camera. It wouldn’t be fun to watch. I’ve worked in rehabs 7 years and am 14 years clean/sober myself, we lose some to the disease but there are many successes. Shelly is a great counselor and plays it real. I’ll miss the show.
What the hell happened to Amy Fisher’s face? Besides looking like she just fell into a birthday cake (with all that horrid eye make up), I wonder what cosmetic surgeon quack plumped up her lips to make them look like they belong on a duck-billed platypus ??? Sheesh!
I never thought I would say this, but Steven Adler is the person who is making the most sense!
I have been in REAL rehab and THIS is a walk in the park folks! How can people learn to be sober when they can lounge around the pool sipping cool drinks and having gourmet food for each meal not to mean a collection of the most whiney people EVER put together?! I am surprised it hasn’t gone on haitus before THIS!
Have been aware of Amy Fisher since 17, For first time felt empathy given her admission of being so masochistic. Hope she continues to seek help beyond show and can bring up her children peacefully.
I can’t see how putting addicts on television can help their recovery. Each episode they are subjected to so much negative criticism from the press and the public. They sound and look far worse after such public scrutiny which they have to face once they leave Dr. Drew’s care. I must admit addiction and recovery from drugs and drinking is far worse then I ever realized.before watching this show.My heart goes out to them and their families.
Dr. Drew needs to drop HLN….All he does now is interview media whores…..
i am going 2 miss dr.drew.i m a alcoholic with almost 12 yrs. of recovery,dr drew along with shelly bob n the other dude! i.m no fan of jen{camera whore}couldn’t run a sober house??scared of steven..was she scared of any1 while in active addiction??NOT,,n e ways, they r not god.they r doing addicts along with recoverierers a great service but they can,t keep us clean and sober..thats our job..they can gift us with knowledge and tools and fight like hell 4 our lives but as proven by mike and jeff this illness is no joke it will take us out..yeah eventually were all going but untill the day comes when if we r doing our part we will go in peace.!.our family can b at peace its unreal the crap we put our loved ones through{sometimes not even realizing the sadness n harm we r causing)them through our addiction only because they love us..years after they will still feel guilt because they couldn.t do more i sure am gonna miss the show and the therapy i recieve watching it.
