Ah, the joys of appearing on reality television. A week after his appearance on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, the recent arrest of Ashley Holmes’ dad, John Madison Holmes aka Matt Holmes , is now making headlines.
While Matt appeared to be the voice of reason on the most recent episode of the show, it turns out he was actually arrested weeks ago and charged with arson, insurance fraud and money laundering.
Matt, 39, wasn’t arrested until early June of this year, though the alleged arson actually took place on March 12, 2011. Matt’s wife, Jodi Sue Holmes, 36, who also appeared on the RHONJ, was later arrested on a charge of money laundering as well.
According to court records, after a fire destroyed the couple’s Texas two-story house that was undergoing remodel work, Matt told the Police that he had been at the house dropping off supplies for contractors 30 to 45 minutes before firefighters were called to put out the fire.
However, a few months later, “a credible witness” came forward and stated Matt started the fire in three rooms of the house using kerosene and gasoline, according to investigator Ken Dabbs, who already believed the fire to be intentionally set after finding no electrical shorts or other reasonable cause.
Dabbs reveals Matt and his wife received $429,000 in insurance money. The police complaint alleges that Jodi knew about the arson and used the proceeds to make purchases, which included plastic surgery and a $40,000 diamond ring.
Cops reveal that to their knowledge, the couple has ever been involved in anything like the suspected arson and neither has ever been arrested. The charges however appear to be pretty serious as the FBI is also involved with the investigation. John was released on $225,000 bond while his wife Jodie was released on $75,000 bond.
As for Ashley, she made the following tweet late yesterday, “FYI- my parents have NOT been indicted..this whole thing was started by a disgruntled employee..they are INNOCENT &that’s all i have to say.”
In lighter news, housewife Melissa Gorga recently took some sexy bikini shots for Life & Style magazine! The 32-year-old mama of three opened up about her diet and staying fit.
“There is no dieting going on in the Gorga household! I can’t diet! I stay active so I can eat what I want,” Melissa tells Life & Style. However, she adds, “I’m not a huge meat-and-potatoes girl. I tend to go for lighter meals, because that’s what I enjoy.” Melissa reveals that after her third C-section, in December 2010, she began meeting with her trainer three times a week for hourlong weight workouts to maintain a sculpted and toned figure. A bikini photo of Melissa is below!
And finally, a new episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey airs tonight on Bravo. On the 14th episode this season titled “Belly Up and Up,” verbal warfare and an agonizing decision lowlight Jacqueline’s relationship with her daughter. Meanwhile, Teresa’s financial woes escalate. And the wives trek to Kathy’s food-tasting bash, featuring surprise guests and unsavory behavior from Teresa and Melissa.

@ 193 Franks: When Teresa made that remark about her “Jewsih friends” I sat there with my mouth hanging open thinking to myself “I must not have heard that correctly.” Just what was that moron implying? That Jewish women are so money-hungry that they’d leave their husbands if they were bankrupt? Maybe they were saying that they wouldn’t stay married to a freakin’ crook! Especially if the wives were completely innocent of any wrong doing unlike Teresa who is up to her eyeballs.
I thought I’d die laughing when Joe and Teresa tried putting a positive spin on his forging his partner’s name. “He told the truth.” Like he had a choice. As if anyone would believe that some imaginary person came along and signed the man’s name. Pull-eeze.
I read something earlier which gave me a laugh so I thought I’d pass it on. Ashley’s dad’s actual name is John Madison Holmes, as we know. So why is he call Matt? Well, would you want to be called “John Holmes?” For anyone unfamiliar with that name John Holmes was a porn star. Guess if I was a guy I might use a nickname, too,..lol

What a episode last night. Ashley needs a reality check BAD. Ashley dad and the stepmom what was the whole point of them going to NJ. They should just take ashley with them. Teresa is just Awful oh and a HATER.

Ashley had no trouble completing her sentences: “Like I’m TWENTY, and I don’t have a kid.” and “I’m so annoyed, because California was YOUR idea.” If you noticed, Jac sat back and absorbed those verbal digs before she responded. Also, Chris gave her a SECOND car, and paid part of the cost, to try to motivate her to work hard and earn the rest of her car expenses. They also paid for community college. Are you Ashley?

I think it is so weird that they are filming season 4, when they never had a reunion for season 3 yet.. They haven’t been able to respond to all the stuff that has happened or what each other has said about them.. I mean I know they do in their Blogs, but it’s not the same as the reunion shows..
They have got to be exhausted, mentally. I mean when they get that break in between seasons, they all really deserve it, especially this season of NJ.

@189 – I agree with you! Jac gives Ashlet things but then throws it in her face every second. And when Ashley does come up with an idea – she wants to go to CA for beauty school – all they tell her is: “You wont be able to do that on your own.” It’s mixed messages – they want her to get direction – but they shoot anything she suggests down. I dont hear anyhting positive – EVER – directed at Ashley. Then they wonder why she acts the way she does?

Hanky…Ashley’s stepfather Chris told last week that with her talent he would invest in her. It is difficult with Ashley because every word that comes out of her mother and stepfather’s word she believes is negative.
Interesting how in Season 1 and 2, she had no daddy issues. Now all the sudden is turns 20 and misses big Texas Daddy….who I might add is very surprised at Ashley’s behavior?
Another point…Chris was very honest with Jacqueline when he told that he is looking for a fight. that sounded like he was taking Ashley’s side…or at least understanding her side of it.
I feel terrible for Chris because he is truly a father to Ashely yet all her love and respect is Big Texas Daddy.
I am really confused on Tre’s supposed “positive” spin. She’s created a fake reality when she states that Joe told the truth and that they are both pleased with the result.
WE KNOW the reality. While it was a victory for Teresa that the judge let her out of the deal, the judge absolutely slammed Joe. The judge found his testimony was not credible in the least and that he continued to make up stories that didn’t fit about how this all happened.
@217 – I don’t think Chris is Ashley problem – I thik Jac is. Chris says nice things but Jac is always there with the negative. I think Chris realizes Jac has issues and thats why he is noce with Ashley. Notice all the positive things come from Chris. It’s nice but Ashley, I feel, is looking for acceptance from her mother. I dont think Ashley is a saint, but from watching her and Jac interact I can see how Ashley turned out how she did. Jac needs to take some responsibility for it and stop crying and playing the victim – jmo. Jac never defends Ashley – especially in front of the Lauritos/Manzos. Jac lets them make fun of Ashley to her face. It has to affect Ashley. It would affect anyone, and not in a good way.
Wow. If I called my mom a bitch I would get a slap in the face and a swift kick in the rear out the door. No “Ashley watch your mouth.” I just don’t understand why they put up with this child. Also if I was texting while my parents were talking to me I would get my phone thrown accross the room. So disrespectful. But its also the parents who never taught her discipline. That being said, I do think Jaqueline was too busy getting botox, looking in the mirror, and BIRTHING ADDITIONAL children while Assley was clearly defiant. She needed a real intervention many years ago. She should have been sent off to boot camp!

Yes when a kid is 18 or 19 or 20 and the ground work has not been laid in prior years, you will have a mess like Ashley on your hands. Parents have to have requirements and expectations of children BEFORE they become teens.
163 Andrea is right. Not only that, Chris and Jaq, can’t just support and be positive about a move across country to go beauty school as Ashley’s grades don’t warrant that kind of support. Before she graduated she got mediocre grades (that is not to say she’s not capable of better grades) and she did poorly at community college so you don’t get to decide you’ll now go to California to go to school ans expect everyone to “support” your choice. That’s immature and that’s Ashley’s main problem. She’s immature and spoiled.
She’ll get it someday I think. Her stepmother FB something about Ashley being a mess so hopefully she makes it through. I think she’s a good kid deep down, just going through that know-it-all disrespect phase of total immaturity.

I was waiting for the stepmother to be mentioned too. Ashlee has not grown up because she’s still arguing on twitter with the Manzos. I don’t believe she’s paying for all of this herself. She had stated b4 she doesnt ask her parents for money but Jac says Ashley still does. Ashlee’s reality is a little off. Also I love that she think her style is so great people would buy it.

As some have said I agree with them, Chris knows that Jacqueline has issues also. He’s the one trying to talk to this stepdaughter and the mother is literally fighting with her like she is one of Ashley’s girlfriends. Remember when Jacqueline went into the other room and was making comments and Ashley was responding back, Chris said to her don’t respond to your mother. He said that along with the comment at the restaurant that Jac was always looking for a fight because his wife with three kids have issues. She blame Ashley for what she does, but doesn’t think that her actions or inactions have contributed to them. Like when the Lauritas and Manzo’s make fun of Ashley, if she was any mother she would say don’t be making fun of my daughter. Hell do you think that Caroline would allow or want Jacqueline to make fun or nasty comments about her her sons or daughter (still fat), she would have went ballistic. Ashley knows that her mother have sides with the Lauritas and Manzo’s and I believe that Chris (even though he’s a Laurita) knows it and is trying to change the situation as tactful as he can. Ask yourself, whe did Jac do or Caroline say that made her punch Caroline out. I bet anything that these people get real nasty and if your an outsider (like Jac and Ashley) your meat on the table. And Jac took sides against her daughter and Ashley hasn’t forgiven her for it.
Jac is flakes out pure and simple, and Chris knows it. I remember Teresa in regard to Joe’s business partner saying that you can’t trust anyone nowadays. Yes she is right, her husband forged a loan document and stole money, he might as well robbed a bank. Heck the judge essentially said he was fucking lying. As for Ashleys step mom and her biological mother, they are done done and done. An insurance policy of half a million dollars on a 78,000 dollar house and within a few months burned down.

have the MOST AMAZING parents I could ever ask for. My mom is the strongest woman I know. She has so much strength and courage. I bow down to her for being able to do all that she has done. If I had a kid right now, I don’t even know where I would be. I am just figuring out how to take care of myself, let alone take care of and raise a child. Even on days that my mom and I ‘hate’ each other, I couldn’t ask for a better mom. I wouldn’t trade her for any other mom out there. She is definitely one VERY special woman. We are so much the same person that I think we’ve helped each other grow as women. She is my world.
My daddy, I give credit to because he’s taken responsibility for his mistakes, and he’s owned up to all of them. He has definitely made up for the short time that he wasn’t around as much. He has been an amazing father, and I wouldn’t trade him for ANY other dad. He’s funny, smart, artistic, loving, and mine. The lucky thing is that I get the privilege of having TWO AMAZING DADS. My step dad and I do not in any way think of as my “step” dad. I honestly feel like I have two biological dads. I know… it sounds weird. Haha! My step dad has known me practically my whole life. He knows me so well. He stepped up and took care of me when I didn’t fully have the support I needed. He didn’t have to do any of that. Yeah, it hurts me that we don’t have the warm bubbly relationship that I would like, but I know now that a HUGE part of that is because of me. I also know that he’s hurting because he doesn’t have that sort of relationship with me anymore either. I know that we will be close like that again eventually. I know I need to prove myself to him. I know that he’s hurt for how I’ve treated him over the years. What makes me respect him so much more is that even when I did act out, and hurt him and my mother, that he STILL took care of me. He STILL would give me AMAZING advice, and always had my best interest at heart. It took me a while to see all of this, but now that I do I KNOW that THAT is real love.
Looking back on everything and knowing all that I do now, I truly appreciate everything my parents have done for me. Each one of my parents are so wonderful. I realize now how blessed I am. There are people out there who have lost their parents, and some that never even got to meet theirs. I am sooooo grateful for what I have. These are just my parents, imagine how I feel about my grandparents, and the INCREDIBLE aunts, and uncles I was blessed with. They have helped me through this whole growing process, and I love them all. I am so thankful that they’re so forgiving and patient with me.

This is what I think.. I think Teresa and Melissa just do not like each other period. I think it has been alot of catty remarks, tit for tat, one up womanship( lol) on both parts..Both of them are guilty of this, one is no better than the other.

I’m not sure why the writer on this blog is so partial to Melissa. She seems just as ignorant as Teresa “wench like me” and “I never talked to a median before” and then has the nerve to laugh when Teresa makes a mistake. Not saying Teresa is the sharpest tool either. But Melissa is more despicable to me because she clearly got on the show to promote her “singing” career at the expense of her husband’s family. That to me is just terrible.
