Ah, the joys of appearing on reality television. A week after his appearance on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, the recent arrest of Ashley Holmes’ dad, John Madison Holmes aka Matt Holmes , is now making headlines.
While Matt appeared to be the voice of reason on the most recent episode of the show, it turns out he was actually arrested weeks ago and charged with arson, insurance fraud and money laundering.
Matt, 39, wasn’t arrested until early June of this year, though the alleged arson actually took place on March 12, 2011. Matt’s wife, Jodi Sue Holmes, 36, who also appeared on the RHONJ, was later arrested on a charge of money laundering as well.
According to court records, after a fire destroyed the couple’s Texas two-story house that was undergoing remodel work, Matt told the Police that he had been at the house dropping off supplies for contractors 30 to 45 minutes before firefighters were called to put out the fire.
However, a few months later, “a credible witness” came forward and stated Matt started the fire in three rooms of the house using kerosene and gasoline, according to investigator Ken Dabbs, who already believed the fire to be intentionally set after finding no electrical shorts or other reasonable cause.
Dabbs reveals Matt and his wife received $429,000 in insurance money. The police complaint alleges that Jodi knew about the arson and used the proceeds to make purchases, which included plastic surgery and a $40,000 diamond ring.
Cops reveal that to their knowledge, the couple has ever been involved in anything like the suspected arson and neither has ever been arrested. The charges however appear to be pretty serious as the FBI is also involved with the investigation. John was released on $225,000 bond while his wife Jodie was released on $75,000 bond.
As for Ashley, she made the following tweet late yesterday, “FYI- my parents have NOT been indicted..this whole thing was started by a disgruntled employee..they are INNOCENT &that’s all i have to say.”
In lighter news, housewife Melissa Gorga recently took some sexy bikini shots for Life & Style magazine! The 32-year-old mama of three opened up about her diet and staying fit.
“There is no dieting going on in the Gorga household! I can’t diet! I stay active so I can eat what I want,” Melissa tells Life & Style. However, she adds, “I’m not a huge meat-and-potatoes girl. I tend to go for lighter meals, because that’s what I enjoy.” Melissa reveals that after her third C-section, in December 2010, she began meeting with her trainer three times a week for hourlong weight workouts to maintain a sculpted and toned figure. A bikini photo of Melissa is below!
And finally, a new episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey airs tonight on Bravo. On the 14th episode this season titled “Belly Up and Up,” verbal warfare and an agonizing decision lowlight Jacqueline’s relationship with her daughter. Meanwhile, Teresa’s financial woes escalate. And the wives trek to Kathy’s food-tasting bash, featuring surprise guests and unsavory behavior from Teresa and Melissa.

Well to me it just didn’t make any sense ashley dad coming since he knew how bad it was for Jac already. Even the jodi lady had a hard time with ashley. IF they knew how DIfficult it was for JAC already best thing was to pack her stuff and leave NJ. Watching jac cry is just sad BUT they both know what really is the deal. hope jac and ashley fix there relationship.

I watched last night’s rhonj and felt a lot of things were going on. THis kid has NO SELF ESTEEM AT ALL. JACKIE LAY OFF HER!
More importantly the news that Jackie has been to therapy with Ashley. This same scenario played out in my home when I married for the second time. We used tough love on my son, more because my husband insisted and it really didn’t work all the great as he moved in with dad who is a drunk and a junkie at the time. LOOK AT HER CRAZY DAD AND STEP MOM!!! Stay away from them too. she needs mentoring.
All I can add is there are a lot of issues with Ashley that have not come out yet. She has been infantilized for whatever reason that Jackie may have thought was good. Like smothreing her with gifts for stuff she never earned.
The thing is Ashley needs a reality check and Chris is right to tell her to pack her things and move in her friend. If she hits LA she’ll wind up rock bottom and she;ll be eaten alive, without some out of the house experience. I worry about Ashley.
Lolag-He did tweet that he heard Jac is too boring and that she doesn’t want Ash on the show which is why she’s being replaced. I guess he’s like another Rob Shutter. LOL
BTW I really enjoyed the middle eastern offerings by Kathy. Don’t know if this is an elaborate ploy to keep her on the show but it was lovely. The njhw were typically dumb and dumber!! They acted so like douchbags from jersey all I can say is oy!!
Melissa and Teresa are two peas in a pod; they are both provincial, uneducated and tacky. They are too much alike in all the wrong ways and that is why they hate each other.
Jacqueline is a terrible parent. Like most immature mothers of strong willed daughters–she sinks to Ashley’s childish level of name calling and tantrums rather than maintaining her dignity. Ashley’s problems are directly the result of Jacqueline’s poor parenting skills–and the breakdown in the restaurant is proof that J is a pathetic excuse for a parent.
Tre is the problem, she thinks everything is about her n her making money. Not paying her bills, wearing designer clothes n shoes.
Kids always to the max. I was on her side at first, she is nasty to everyone. How can u be nice to a self centered person. Tre has spoken ill of her brother to her husband for a long time. Now that she is trying to have a relationship with him, her husband is spewing everything negative about him, juicy Joe should take a look at himself. Tre is a mess n she along is the cause, no one can tell her anything she is always right. I personally will not buy anything they are selling meaning all the housewives, on any show. Not one penny of my hard earned money.
Ashley feels intitled to anything she wants, not what she has earned. I have cousins like her, they feel it’s their parents job to keep giving n giving without any recourse. They finally grew up by being kicked to the curve. Ashley needs to make her mistakes, do not bail her out she needs to find her own way out. That’s the only way she will know, their is no money tree in the backyard. Someone has to earn that money u keep wasting. This child wants to be treated like an adult, but expects her parents to foot the bill, can’t have it both ways. Let her fall n don’t look back. JMO

WOW! Have you guys seen the preview clips on bravotv.com for next week? Teresa invites her brother to a book signing and Lardass Joe starts sending threatening texts messages to him. He told him he would break his jaw and he calls Melissa fake and says he doesn’t care about Teresa and is only supporting her for “show”. How sad. Now I see why Joe Gorga has so much built up resentment towards Lardass. Melissa even asks Joey if he said something to Lardass to provoke him and he said no. He said it’s been going on for years. OH EM GEE. Now I see why Melissa kept saying that the main reason behind all the fighting was filmed and hopefully it would be shown.

@257 Sally – I so agree with you. They are both awful and tacky, not to mention mean and petty. Nonetheless, most people on this blog seem to only focus on Teresa, which is a big reason why I stopped posting as often. I still can’t get over the outfit Melissa was wearing – the exposed back and the liquid leggings or whatever that was. I just dont understand why these women feel the need to dress like strippers and so inappropriate for their age. Yikes.
I predict Teresa will purposely alienate everyone she ever competed with, or was secretly jealous of, because she knows she is about to totally crash and burn and she doesn’t want them around to see it. She would rather be completely alone than let anyone see her fail. She is so insecure and afraid it is actually self destructive at this point. I feel sorry for her.
I just read “Ashlee’s” new blog on Celebuzz (What have things become that I’m doing stuff like that? Crazy.) and it seems she has learned a lot from her past mistakes and has made changes in her life that she hopes will lead to bigger and better things. Isn’t that all we can ask of our children?
I don’t like the way she treated her parents in the past two episodes. My daughter herself said that if she ever called me a bitch to my face she would have paid for it BIG TIME! Not sure why Ashlee was allowed to get away with that type of behavior, but it is what it was.
I hope she has a good support system in place in LA because that town can eat up young women and spit them out like bad sushi. I have a niece and nephew working in the entertainment industry. Sometimes they get a gig that pays unbelievable money, but then they can find themselves living for months at a time without consistent income. They’ve learned to budget and save money to get through the hard times. I support them in their dreams and enjoy seeing them on various TV shows from time to time. If Ashlee can stay out of trouble (avoid the drug and party scene) then she has a world of wonder at her feet. If she thinks she can do the club circuit night after night and still be successful she’s fooling herself.
Hopefully all that the Laurita and Holmes family went through on air can be used a learning example for other young adults and parents of young adults. Sometimes you have to suffer before you can rejoice.
Franks…- I could not believe Juicy Joe’s whole demeanor and attitude in that Lawyer’s office. And wow..Bravo isn’t holding back…had to laugh when Caroline was reading the paper and told Jacqueline she looked chubby…They used a promo photo for Season 1 when both Jac and Teresa were pregnant with Danielle no less.

Did anyone catch Richie on there making digs about Teresa stealing her mothers recipes or something? Just last eipisode he was hugging Joe and acting like they were old buddies. He is just as slimey and gross as Joe Gorga. I don’t buy his or Kathy’s act for a second, they are just so desperate. That whole scene when queen Caroline complimented Kathy was just so pathetic, its like she was knighted or something, with the stupid looking glitter in her hair or whatever that was.

I haven’t read the entire thread yet, but wanted to address the c-section issue. I’ve had 2 sections(25 and 30 years ago)…and my stomach/lower ab is completely flat. I could wear that bikini bottom rolled down and my scar would still be covered. I assumed the placement of my incision was the norm? My initial scar/scar tissue was cut out and discarded with the second c-section. I thought that was the norm as well.

CeeJay…It appears that the Ashley storyline has raised alot of awareness. The NJ housewives FB fan page has thousands of comments. Interesting how many people say that they are disrespectful but would never call their mother a Bitch. People are pouring their hearts and souls out over this. There are even stepfather posting their point of view. As difficult as it was for Jac/Chris to film that scene in their – it did send out a powerful message.
I couldn’t believe Ashley screaming at her mother while on the phone with Big Texas Daddy…and not to mention telling Chris not to talk to her. All while in his house. Those poor little boys do not deserve to witness that…Obviously, CJ and Nicholas adore their mommy…

Love Caroline this year. Jacqueline and hubby and other Dad and Stepmom need to accept their part in how their child grew up. Doing the right thing by having her leave for the younger kids; Not the parents. Melissa is Tacky and just can’t seem to keep her mouth shut with the gossiping. she and Teresa are perfect pair…..

Jaqueline has a sweet heart but ultimately was not a strong enough disciplinarian for Ashlee and Ashlee is spoiled as a result. Chris is an OUTSTANDING step-parent. Ashlee’s father was absentee and yet his daughter looks up to him and disrespects her mother…We always want want we cannot have, Ashlee. Too little, too late, father Matt and Step-mom Jodi…You love the BRAVO attention, though, HUH?
Teresa is just a vapid person with a low I.Q. and although she has a sensitive heart she is vain and competitive. Her life seems to be ruled by her ego and she’s obsessed by material goods and outward appearances and this has had great consequences for her in the past year! I absolutely believe she has contributed, over the years, between fueling the fire between her husband and her bro. Her bro is also quite the simpleton, both vain and insecure (they were raised together and are sibs, after all!) but he seems more genuine, somehow…and you can see his love for his sister and his nieces, particularly Gia. It was sweet how he bought all those books @ Teresa’s empty book signing. I do not believe for one second that was ALL for show, any more than her tears were. So sad! Joe G. is a fraud and is in deep sh!t and knows it! he also appears to have a RAGING drinking problem and is a burden on his wife and kids; I hope he seeks help!
Kathy and her husband are boring and seek the limelight although have little star-power so they gossip about others to gain attention. They are probably pretty decent people, though.
Caroline….Her kids are great, although Both Albie and Lauren seem very insecure, so I would question why she is such a know-it-all and think perhaps she needs to step down off her soap-box. Chris is AWESOME and has great potential! Love him. Caroline seems to overstep her bounds and was more likable in previous seasons.
