On the last episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, millions of viewers watched as Joe Giudice not only got drunk in his home, but also berated his wife Teresa Giudice in front of guests and called his brother-in-law a gay slur.
Fast forward to today and in usual Teresa fashion, she is now defending the actions of her husband. Teresa, who graces the latest cover of In Touch Weekly magazine with photos of her extravagant vow renewal to Joe, tells the mag despite coming off as a jerk on national television, Joe is still her Prince Charming.
“He doesn’t act for the cameras,” says Teresa (Not helping his case there Tre!) adding that deep down Joe’s really a “sweetheart.”

When asked about Joe’s “drunken bullying” on the recent episode of the RHONJ, Teresa asserts that she wasn’t hurt by the incident. “He was drunk, in his own home and upset. I get where he was coming from.”
Teresa also insists that Joe is not verbally abusive to her — but simply a guy who speaks his mind. “Joe is Joe,” she states. “You really have to know him to know it’s not malicious.” She adds, “You learn, with age, to let things bother you less and less.”
In other news, Melissa Gorga discusses the hardship of doing the RHONJ in the beginning and how she decided to join the show in an interview with The Insider. Below are excerpts from Melissa’s interview –
TheInsider.com: What’s it been like watching yourself on television?
Melissa Gorga: In the beginning it was hard, but the more I watch it, the more I enjoy it. I’m now at the point where I feel grateful that I’m getting to share my life with America. Show them how I do things. It’s a great experience and I’m eating up every minute of it.
Insider: Teresa and her husband have not said very nice things about you and your husband. Has that been hard?
Melissa: It is. We all went through it months ago so to sit there and rewatch it and find out all these new things that people said behind your back in the confessionals is hard. It’s hard not to pick up the phone and ask, “How could you say that about me?!?” But I take everything I see with a grain of salt because it was said when we were in that place. It’s always hard to go back and watch it, but we knew what we were signing up for.
Insider: Having watched Teresa go through it for two seasons, what made you want to be a part of this?
Melissa: You know, in the beginning, Joe and I weren’t sure if we wanted to do it. But because it really involved my husband’s family, I completely left the decision up to him. It was so much more personal for him, so if he said yes, we were in, if he said no, we were out. I think he knew that we had something to offer and he went for it.
Insider: The cast is about to go on a big vacation together. Can’t imagine that’s going to be good.
Melissa: Yea, we go to Punta Cana and it’s crazy. Kathy & Teresa get into a little tiff on the beach, but there’s always a lot of fun mixed in with the drama – which is the Housewives way!
And finally, following a two week hiatus, a new episode of the RHONJ airs tonight on Bravo! On the 16th episode this season titled ‘Singing in the Pain,” the wives are up and running when they participate in a charity race, with Teresa’s competitive nature on full display. Meanwhile, Melissa premieres her song to an unforgiving crowd in Hoboken. And Teresa throws a birthday bash for one of her daughters, highlighted by a jaw-dropping gift.
