A new report claims Marlo Hampton, who was supposed to be the new wife on the block for Real Housewives of Atlanta is actually not going to make the cut!
StraightFromTheA blog is reporting that, while Marlo was originally slated to join as the seventh housewife, she has now been relegated to the “side-kick” role ala Brandi Glanville and Dana Wilkey of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
This is possibly verified by the fact that Marlo was not included in any of the official Bravo promotional pictures or write-ups for the new season. And Phaedra Parks stated in a recent interview: “We’re almost finished filming, it’s still just the six of us, no one left and there is no new Housewife.”
The reason Marlo got downgraded? Apparently not only did she lie about her affiliation with supposed fiancé Charles Grant, she also has a pretty shady and violent criminal past! (oh no – Danielle 2.0!). Also she was supposed to bring the catfights with NeNe Leakes, but instead the two formed a friendship! A Bravo no-no!
Marlo’s criminal past is quite extensive, resulting in seven arrests, including a couple for aggravated assault and another for check fraud from her days living in Florida. Seriously! Sources say Bravo is claiming they did not know about her lengthy violent criminal history and when they were alerted to it through the blogosphere, were forced to reconsider adding her to the cast permanently to avoid being held responsible for any of her untoward (re: possibly illegal) behaviors! Hey, they’ve already got enough of that on their hands!
I find it very hard to believe that Bravo would not thoroughly and exhaustively background check their cast members – and I believe they do conduct those checks and then cast for maximum drama. I mean, you get a background check to work at Target!
In addition the number one reason Marlo was added to the cast was to create controversy with NeNe as a result of her relationship with Charles. Well, allegedly not only were Marlo and Charles never engaged and Charles refused to be implicated in her schemes; Nene KNEW their relationship was a fraud all along!
In fact, Marlo and NeNe allegedly pulled a fast one and buddied up against other ladies on the cast (although the recent trailer for the season shows them getting into plenty of disputes!) and Marlo also formed friendships with Phaedra and Cynthia Bailey in the hopes the network would keep her on anyways.
StraightFromTheA, who cites their source as “highly credible,” is also claiming that Marlo “didn’t have ANY of the qualifications that Bravo requests for inclusion on the show, i.e. married, divorced or in a long-term relationship with a baller/well-to-do mate, career, kids,” so Bravo simply lost interest in what she could bring to the show long-term. Um… chaos? But I guess with NeNe and Phaedra they’ve already got enough of that!

Bryan – you’re so right!! And again Bravo is not checking on backgrounds – Bravo – take some of your crew off Drama Plots and put them on background checks – no more rented/leased houses, mug shots, just out of rehab or needing to go there.
They are batting a 1000 here, first those two over on BH didnt make the cut maybe we will see why as the season goes on, but from what we saw of Dana and he sad little party I can see that as the beginning, but this one, wow she takes the cake Strega 2.0 is right, love those Mug Shots LOL!!!
Why won’t they let this series die? Atl needs more a makeover than did NY! Bravo talks about wanting to get a better caliber of women for NY, but what about Atl? These (mostly) broke, unattractive, non-talented women do NOT represent elite Atlanta. NeNe’s 15 minutes is over and most of the rest are not interesting enough to carry a show. Kim at least has an interesting story line now but that will be covered on her own show. So why keep this boring cast of characters Bravo?

Why Phaedra is on this show is a mystery to me. She is too rich, intelligent, and classy to hang around these women. I’m from Atlanta and believe me when I tell you that Phaedra Parks is the definition of a true high class socialite of ATL.
Pheadra’s is so high class, she’s lying regarding her due date. Now do get me wrong, it’s her business. She never apologize
for saying white ppl eat too much can food. Although I personally thought it was funny, bez most ppl I know like fresh fruits n vegetables. If she sooo elite, what the hell is she doing on this show?????JMO
What they need to do is get a whole new class of women for the OC and also for Atlanta. When the OC first started there was drama but not where near what it is today, in fact those women did portray themselves as wives of the well to do even Knickerbocker (even though her husband punched a woman that she got into a fight with at a party and that is the reason they left in the second season more so than the “cancer” thing).
Everyone knows that Atlanta has alot of posers and hanger on’s in the area. Everyone is acting rich in order to snag a rich whomever and what happens is that you get two posers who come together that don’t have money.

RH of Atlanta has the highest ratings of any show on Bravo. As long as that remains, then I don’t see any major cast changes.

I, for one, cannot wait for the new season of RHOATL. Out of all the HW franchises, these women have managed to keep me entertained throughout the years. I can only hope this season doesn’t disappoint like New Jersey did.
Bravo thought ghetto (Marlo) would meet ghetto (Nene) and there would be fireworks. I used to like the Housewives show but now it’s all about fights. So boring and stupid!

I doubt it, and C’mon a show with Kim, entertaining?? Maybe, but she doesn’t deserve it! She’s played all of the women on RH of Atl. And as far as Marlo goes, I wanna surpass her 7 mugshot ordeal, she makes prison look easy and fun. I’m supporting RH of Atlanta all the way. But, if they get rid of their #1 star (Nene)of course. I’m protesting!!
Not watching this season. Sick of enabling low-class ghetto broads who have fake lives. I will watch Kandie’s spin-off however. I like her, with the exception of all the sex dirty talk.
I think Phaedra is in Footloose. Pretty sure I saw her in a trailer for the movie.

You could well be referencing the NJ or OC Housewives. Most of the Atlanta cast have either attended or graduated college.
How many of the NJ Housewives have accomplished such?
If a criminal background payed a part in getting an acting job, then a lot of celebrities would be out of work. Having a shady past has nothing to do with the show. I wish people stop talking about the Atlanta elite. Who are the Atlanta elite? Its TV for entertainment!

Marlo is coming off more successful than any of those other broads on the show and it is about time there is someone who is not talking trash about Nene behind her back. Kandi is a grade A hater and was threatened by Marlo, hence her need to look her up……….Marlo is gorgeous and puts them all to shame with an exception to Cynthia and Nene…they are all bad in their own right.
