With the first season of Basketball Wives: L.A. coming to a close this evening, the gossip behind the original Basketball Wives is ramping up with new ladies, new drama and perhaps a new spin-off for one of the cast mates that swore up and down she was quitting the show.
As you recall, Evelyn Lozada announced she would not be returning to the VH1 hit after the network’s blog posted a story about her hooking up with Terrell Owens. Now, normally that wouldn’t be such a big deal for a woman whose professional life involves pursuing professional athletes, but T.O. happens the be the bestie of Evelyn’s fiancé Chad Ochocinco. However, TMZ is reporting that it wasn’t all that difficult to lure Evelyn back into the spotlight. All it took was more money, more flexibility in her filming schedule, and oh… her own show, of course!
Insiders are revealing that Evelyn not only received a raise to return to the show, but she is also getting to call the shots. Sources say Evelyn is choosing to film around her daughter’s school schedule and not miss any of Chad’s games due to being followed around by those pesky cameras.
Not surprisingly, the icing on the cake is that Evelyn and Chad will get their own show which will film the events leading up to the couple’s nuptials. There is no word yet as to whether the actual wedding will be documented on the spin-off, but I’m sure making that happen will be as simple as Evelyn threatening (via Twitter, of course!) to quit that show.
Meanwhile, Evelyn’s cast mates Tami Roman and Shaunie O’Neal are also discussing the upcoming season. According to Tami, the ladies of Miami spent several weeks filming in New York before returning south. Also intriguing is the ladies’ confirmation of two new cast members. Does Meeka Claxton’s fate not serve as a warning to these women? Echoing what must be the sentiments of all the show’s fans, Tami admits, “I’m still surprised at how many people just wanna come into this situation. They should know by now we are not wrapped too tight. But they still keep coming.”
Shaunie is equally unapologetic to the new girls. She states that so much drama goes on with the original ladies during the off-season, that when filming begins, the newbies “just walk into the danger zone.” She adds a passive aggressive “sorry” because that will certainly make the new cast mates feel better! Regardless, and true to the show’s form, Tami promises, “It will be epic, trust me.” I certainly have no doubt about that!
Indeed as TMZ reveals the identities of the two new cast members! Pictured top middle is Kesha Ni’cole Nichols – most notorious for being dumped by NBA player Richard Jefferson back in 2009 via email, a day before their $2 million wedding!
The other newbie is Kenya Bell, who was arrested earlier this year for allegedly trying to stab her NBA husband Charlie Bell. Kesha is reportedly getting along with all the veteran cast members while Kenya is said to be butting heads with them. I wonder why!
Also (hopefully!) epic will be tonight’s conclusion of the Basketball Wives L.A. reunion. John Salley continues to drop the ball mediate as the women go back and forth with Jackie Christie. Here’s hoping some good dirt comes out, but I for one won’t be holding my breath! The episode airs tonight at 8PM ET on VH1. Watch a preview clip below!

No one wants to see Evelyn and Chad, we all know there will not be a wedding.
I won’t under any circumstances watch a spin-off show about Evelyn and 85. I can’t wait for her to not be on Basketball wives completely. Then maybe Jennifer can find a way to be her own woman.
I wonder if Evelyn has hired a stylist yet? Just sayin…between her horrible clothes, greasy hair, and ridiculous make up, i thought maybe chad forked out some money to clean her up a bit…

Poor Evelyn how nice that she held out for a show with Chad and more money, unfortunately for her that will cost her more than a stupid rumor. I predict in the end Chad will calmly break things off with Evelyn and that will be the end of that!
Now on to tonight, I think Lauren is right we’ll get nada, zilch a big fat zero in the good gossip department, just the dumb look on John’s face as he drools!

OK so I think that everyone knows that Jackie Christie won’t be back for a season 2! I have new found respect for John after he hammered Jackie, asking her why she lied, telling her to keep her trap shut and calling her delusional – just too damn funny! Maylasia is a class act and very honest to state “I still don’t like you, but I’ll give you a hug because you’re crying!” I would not have blamed Doug for coming out and removing Jackie from the reunion although the producers probably wouldn’t allow it, what a pathetic woman.
@JustMe1, say it ain’t so that Jackie won’t be returning for a second season. If so, that is some fraganagle bullshit. Who will manipulate those other dizzy dressed up trashcans now? Yeah John did give it to Jackie, but that too was also scripted. I have to be honest, had it not been for Jackie’s mischief I would not have turned in. Her insanity is real and keeps her laughing to the bank. Now Malaysia, she’s quiet and unassuming, but damn, Malaysia ain’t even the bitch’s real name. Can I get some realness please? I can’t think of anything more boring to watch than Ocho & Evelyn!!! They are completely fake and boring!!! Two air bags full of just enough air for one person!!! Boring!!! VH1 save your money on this one!!! Basketball LA was horrible this would be a disaster show!!!
Jackie Christie is TOO d@mn OLD to be on the same show with those pretty, young ladies P E R I O D! She looks out of place & I keep wondering how SHE plays into the whole storyline. She doesn’t look the part & she is so old & out of place, she can’t even ACT THE PART! Why her?!?!? Really VH1?… I thought this was “reality” tv? C’mon!
