Another day, another piece of news about the Kardashians! In the latest, Kim Kardashian is furious about so-called “malicious” claims that her trip to Haiti was for publicity (cough, cough) and a human rights group leader insists there is no proof that any Kardashian klothing utilized sweatshop labor. Why is there no proof? Because the organization has not finished conducting their investigation.
Kimmie Kakes recently took to her blog to defend her trip to Haiti as righteous and without ulterior motive. #yeahright. Claiming to be “inspired” by the women of Haiti, Kim believes the trip changed her life.
Calling the experience a “very emotional and surprisingly positive journey that I will never forget,” the Kourtney & Kim Take New York star then tackles the rumors of what she really did in Haiti, writing, “some media outlets have tried to tarnish the motive behind my visit and have written completely ridiculous and untrue things.”
“The National Enquirer wrote that I went to a fashion show in Haiti and then spent a fortune pampering myself! The truth is that I was at the Haitian Artisan Fair, where the amazing men and women who make their jewelry and crafts sell them to visitors to make a living, and I bought some of their beautiful jewelry after the fashion show!! Reading this made me so disappointed in the media.”
“Taking such a positive thing and writing something malicious and untrue,” Kim continues. “The journalists obviously didn’t bother to do their research and instead published a ridiculous story to sell copies.”
“I have become accustomed to dealing with rumors and lies spread about my family or my relationships, and have learned to ignore it to a certain extent,” Kim seethes. “But when a magazine makes the decision to twist the truth and write lies like that, it belittles the entire experience we had in Haiti, and I won’t let them do that.”
Considering Kim usually likes it when journalists follow her around and report on her every move for money, I’m surprised she is this upset. Maybe it’s because this time she doesn’t like what these so-called malicious journalist have to say! A photo of Kim enjoying the fashions of Haiti are below. She was only shopping for charity, you guys!
Charles Kernaghan, the Executive Director of the Institute
is claiming he advised Star Magazine against printing the untrue article! “It was a wise idea to wait on the article,” Mr Kernaghan explains, because currently there is “no proof that the specific factories the Kardashians use violated child labor standards or human rights.”
Mr. Kernaghan feels he was misquoted by the publication and that his statements were twisted to convey a certain point! Star Magazine reported him as saying: “The Kardashians are in bed with some pretty bad people. Not only are celebrities like the Kardashians taking advantage of these workers, they are holding hands with a government that spits on democracy and women’s rights.”
But Mr. Kernaghan explains that he was actually speaking, not of the specific factories the Kardashians use, but of a specific region of China known for utilizing slave labor. His actual sentiment is that while child labor practices in many of the factories are appalling he has “no proof that the specific factories the Kardashians use employ such practices.”
He goes onto add that his organization is conducting an investigation into the factories the Kardashians use to produce their merchandise, but at this time there is NO EVIDENCE of any human rights abuses, adding that “75%”of the factories in that region have violations similar to those reported by Star.
Kris Jenner has spoken out denying the accusations, telling TMZ the factories used to produce Kardashian products are “strictly policed” and do not violate child labor or human rights practices.
Finally, onto something important! Kendall Jenner turned sixteen in November, so naturally she needed an over-the-top party to celebrate this milestone. There was some sort of costume-circus theme and Khloe Kardashian played photographer for the evening. Some photos of the event are below.
