It’s Official – Emily Maynard Will Be The Next Bachelorette!

Weeks after it was reported Emily Maynard was very close to signing on as the next Bachelorette, a new report now confirms it’s a done deal!

Bachelor insider Reality Steve broke the news this morning that Emily, 25, has officially signed on for the ABC hit show.

The single mother of 6-year-old Ricki first captured the heart of fans with her tragic story of how she lost her fiancé and father of her daughter, race car driver Ricky Hendrick, in a plane crash back in 2004 while she was pregnant.

Things appeared to be looking up for Emily after Brad Womack picked her on his Bachelor season and proposed. However, like every other Bachelor relationship that came before them, their relationship ultimately failed.

There’s no word yet on when ABC plans to make the official announcement though it will likely be after Ben Flajnik’s Bachelor season ends. Filming on Emily’s Bachelorette season will reportedly begin in March.

Reality Steve also adds that the likely selling point for Emily, who had stated in the past that she wasn’t interested in doing the show, might be the fact that ABC has agreed to film the new season in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a first and has never been done before in the history of the Bachelorette.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON EMILY BEING THE NEXT BACHELORETTE?

28 Responses so far | Have Your Say!

  1. This will probably be the first bachelorette I have watched in a long time. I like Emily!

  2. I like Emily, but find it weird that she is so desperate for a man, she needs to appear on The Bachelorette.

I would think the last go around would have left a bad taste in her mouth, and made her realize dating normally is the best way to go. This Bachelorette stuff rarely works and then you are on the hook to keep having your life on display until the show decides they are done with you.

  3. I liked Emily’s mannerisms on The Bachelor — she actually acted like a lady. I keep fixating on her veneers. Maybe ABC can spring for veneers on the bottom too so it won’t be so distracting.

  4. I’ll definitely watch this! Won’t read the spoilers either. Psyched!

  5. desperate to find a man? has anybody watched the show and seen the incredible trips and dates these girls get to go on? If anybody turned this oppertunity down they are either madly in love with someone or a complete idiot.

  6. Eat you heart out, Ashley HERBERT. This girl isn’t a fivehead bowlegged midget. She’s actually cute!

  7. Awww Yay Emily!!! I really liked her on the bachelor… Can’t wait to see her as the new bachelorette!!

  8. I think Emily is the best choice for Bachelorette. My husband and I love her. She will probably get a lot of nasty comments from people who don’t like her, but hopefully she will not listen to them. The majority of Americans love her! That is what she needs to remember. I normally do not comment on articles, but the haters always do and she needs to hear that more people love her than hate her. Go Emily!

  9. Good grief! Can they please explore a new pool of contestants!!?? I’m so sick of them recycling the same boring, homogenous groups of contestants over and over again. Seriously, would it hurt to have SOME diversity on these shows??!!

  10. Agreed, GJ. These shows are so super-white, it’s embarrassing. Is ABC really this bad at casting or do they think America is this racist?

  11. I’m glad someone said it!!!

HONESTLY has there EVER been a bachelor/bachelorette who wasn’t white??? What is ABC trying to say…no one decent enough in the other races for us too hook up???? It’s ridiculous that this show has been on for so many years and not one person if color has been the bachelor/bachelorette!!!

  12. Emily is good looking, a very pretty woman. Wonder if Bentley will be one of the Bachelors?

  13. OMG! So people are getting outraged over a crappy show not being diversified??? MAYBE people of other races, ethnicities have too much pride to parade themselves around, kissing, bedding different dudes and sullying their reputations! Ever think that might be it?

  14. @Tessa- YES, desperate! What woman wants the world to see her kissing on different men every week and cry over men you barely know, in order to meet a man? I, personally will continue to work and earn my trips. I have traveled extensively, and you do not have to be on The Bachelorette to do that.

They should put Bentley on the show so she can shit all over him. But she probably won’t since she has too much class.

  16. Shame you ABC and shame on her! She has a CHILD and her Mom will be away from her again for almost 3 months. She should be with her daughter, not looking for love in all the wrong places.

  17. She may be a sweet girl, from what I’ve seen on the show, but I’m just tired of the same people coming back. I haven’t even watched this season of the Bachelor…kinda burned out on it.

  18. @5 Tessa even though I love to travel and go on great dates as much as the next girl, I would never agree to go on this show! I hope you don’t really think you need reality tv to explore the world. Work for it – like most other people who travel! :)

Yes! I will definitely watch! Great choice, soooo much better than Ashley. I bet guys will fall at Emily’s feet!

Emily is beautiful….however she is SOOOO dang boring. How the hell is she going to carry the whole show. It’s pathetic….leaving your child behind so you can be a famewhore!

  21. @ 5 xyxyz…nobody is outraged. Just making an observation because I think it would breathe some life into a stale show and possibly expand their audience. Personally, I don’t watch the show for that very reason. I won’t lie…I love reality tv and have no issues with black, white, red, etc. making a fool of themselves. It’s all in fun. BTW… I find it hard to believe that the explanation you offered for lack of minority representation is accurate. There are a plethora of other dating shows much more low brow than the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchsie that involve people of all races. So no, that’s not it. Just saying…

  22. They need to get Bentley to be one of her 25 guys. Now that would be hilarious.

  23. At this point, no one expects these people to end up w/ and marry anybody on these shows. She probably wants to get more involved in TV and this a good opportunity. She deserves it, too!

  24. Also, if the producers bring that a-hole Bentley on for ratings, that will be a shame. He was horrible, not that good-looking, and extremely creepy. Hope they don’t go there.

  25. Emily as the new Bachelorette? Yawn, she was so boring to watch on the Bachelor, speaks like a drone and will definitely put this viewer to sleep. She is so one note. Wish they would find a fresh young lady with intelligence and a lot of spunk … another girl like Ali would be so much more fun to watch. Emily …. yawn.

She’s pretty enough to find a nice bland guy in her home town. No need to leave her girl at home just to find fame, oops, I mean a man, onTV.

    yessssssssssss

FINALLY!!! Someone interesting and hot!! It’s about time! I’ve been saying for a long time that ABC should stop recycling past cast offs but this is the ONE exception where it is actually a good idea. I will watch for sure! I tried but couldn’t stand watching Jillian, Ashley, Jake or Ben….snooze!

  27. Emily’s daughter looks ALOT like Traylor’s daughter, Kennedy.

  28. the fact that RT readers are so enthusiastic over emily tells me that ABC’s got ratings gold on their hands with em-em.
