Bravo’s ‘Interior Therapy With Jeff Lewis’ Premieres Tonight! See Video Preview; Plus Jeff Talks Jenni & Gage Backlash!

The hilarious and complicated anti-hero of Bravo, Jeff Lewis, is finally returning to us with a brand new show, Interior Therapy With Jeff Lewis, premiering tonight at 9 pm ET!

Here is the description of the show, straight from the horse’s mouth, or press release: “Everyone’s favorite obsessive-compulsive house-flipper is taking on a new role as a home therapist in the new series following Jeff Lewis, his trusted assistant, Jenni, and his loyal housekeeper, Zoila, as they take over someone’s home to redesign not only their space, but their lives. Jeff will observe the homeowners and diagnose their problems with the goal of improving them inside and out.”

If you’re a fan of Jeff’s classic Bravo show, Flipping Out, don’t worry. In a recent interview with GoPride.com, Jeff reveals that not only is the show that made him famous, returning, they are currently filming, saying “We’re filming Flipping Out actually today.”While I’ve always thought Bethenny Frankel was Andy Cohen‘s pet student, it’s clear that Jeff is likely in second place. Who else has two active shows on the network?

In his interview with GoPride, Jeff goes into the differences between the two shows:

“Well, I think the big thing is that with Flipping Out, whenever we end the show unfortunately you don’t always get to see the finished products because we’re usually working on client’s homes, and you know when it’s done it’s done. So the problem is that you really never get to see the reveal. You never get to see it furnished or accessorized. There is a true before and after reveal, which I like because I get to see the project all the way through, and then so do the viewers.

…I guess for me after doing this for five years, I think it would be nice for people to really see what I can do because Flipping Out has been focusing on the construction end of it. We only have a week of doing these homes, we do light construction, but we do a lot more furnishing and accessories. I felt like I was kind of weak in that department, but the show has really helped strengthen my skills in this particular arena. I’m actually really proud of the reveals.”

So rejoice, there will be more real estate porn! What there won’t be, according to Jeff, are staged “happy endings.” In the following tidbit, he reveals a very interesting piece of information from backstage:

“Sometimes Jenni and I had a wonderful dynamic with the family and it was light and it was funny, and it was just great. Then other times we would walk in and it was heavy and dark. What I love about those episodes is that they were real and there was no Hollywood ending. I said whatever happens, happens, and we’re not going to produce it. We ended up losing a producer over it. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that. But, we ended up losing a producer over that because we didn’t agree.”

In the interview, Jeff is clear that the show is not supposed to be about helping folks who are in severe need, and is quick to point out “We dig deep into relationship issues not financial ones.”

Speaking of relationship issues, the last season of Flipping Out was the first to feature Jeff’s boyfriend, Gage Edward. Previously, Jeff had been careful to leave his relationships offscreen. Not only did Gage make a splash as Jeff’s boyfriend, but he was also instrumental in firing two of Jeff’s employees, which wasn’t well-received.

Jeff reveals that it wasn’t easy on Gage to go through the reality television microscope:

“… it has brought a lot of stress because you know Gage wasn’t always depicted favorably last season of Flipping Out, and that was really hard on him because he really is a really good, nice person. He does have my back. He is very, very professional in a sense of he’s protecting my business. When we had to let go of a few people last season it wasn’t ultimately Gage’s decision; it was mine. But he did present the information, and as a result he took the heat for that. And we got a lot of very, very upsetting, nasty blogs, reviews, emails, and that was hard on him, for somebody who’s been under the radar for so long.”

It isn’t clear if Gage will be a part of Interior Therapy, or if it will just be Jeff and his ladies.
