x factor premiere 4 120912

Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid kicked off the new season of The X Factor in a unique way last night.  The X Factor held the premiere screening at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood in true movie premiere style!

Demi, L.A., Britney and Simon also participated in a Handprint Ceremony before the premiere.  Seems a little early to be cementing their "iconic" status when the show is only beginning its second season, no?

Simon is pulling out all the stops, making sure everyone knows that The X Factor starts this week!

Simon Cowell hasn't been quiet about his displeasure with 'The Voice' making the decision to spread its season 3 "premiere" over three nights this week – including tonight, the season 2 premiere of 'The X Factor'.  Simon thought they had an understanding that The Voice would run on Mondays and Tuesday and X Factor would stake claim on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  He spewed his frustration last week, "These guys have really got it in for us. It's nothing short of dirty tricks. The reason they've done this is they don't want people to see 'X Factor' because they've heard how good the series is. They don't want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don't want their audience to see Demi Lovato."

Three nights for a premiere is a little much, in my opinion. Our DVRs are crammed full the way it is!  Although, I'm also not a big fan of shows that spread out over two nights every week instead of one, but that's just me!

Blake Shelton, one of the four mentors on 'The Voice', slammed Simon in an interview with Access Hollywood, saying he must have way too much time on his hands and should focus on his own show.  "Every time I turn around the guy is mouthing off. Don’t y’all wish you had time to sit around and b**** and moan like that guy does? Every time I turn around, he’s mouthing off about our show. It’s like, ‘Do your own show! Come on! Put something together there and do your thing. We’ll just do ours and we won’t mouth off about you.’ I wish I had that much time. The guy must just have more free time than he knows what to do with.”

Blake thinks the mud slinging isn't necessary, as they could all have successful shows bringing attention to music.  “There’s room for all these shows. That’s what frustrates me when I hear the bickering. I’m like, ‘We’re all doing pretty good. High five!’"

TELL US – Will you watch any of the singing competitions this season?  Which of the "big three" do you prefer? The Voice, American Idol, or X Factor?
