Blake Shelton Dishes On The Voice’s New Judges

Did y'all watch The Voice last night?  I have to be honest, I have so much in my DVR on Mondays, that I'm going to have to save it for later in the week.  That said, I can't wait to see what I anticipate being a much more fun and positive camaraderie among the judges.  Don't get me wrong, I'll miss Cee Lo Green, but I think that Shakira and Usher will be great additions alongside Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.  As for Xtina?  No comment.

There is something about this competition that I truly adore.  It's equal parts the design of listening without looking and the witty back and forth among the judges that makes it all the more entertaining.  Add in incredible talent, and it's a hit.  Of course, there is the always hilariously honest Blake to keep things in check, and he's dishing on the two newbies.

Talking to Access Hollywood, Blake has some insight on what makes the show so popular.  He says, “It’s chaos…It’s competitive, it’s constipated, it’s everything that can make you uncomfortable as a coach and everything that’s entertaining as a viewer.”

Blake admits that he can't take into consideration the fact that Shakira is the only woman on the panel.  He laughs, “Forget Shakira! I’m tired of everybody asking me about [her]. She is my competition."

Continuing, Blake jokes, “I’m not going to say anything nice about her anymore.  Yes, she’s beautiful, she’s talented, she’s sweet, she’s also my competition. Forget Shakira, that’s what I say.”

While Blake is facing off against Shakira, he believes that Usher and Adam will go to battle over some of the talent.  Blake explains, “I don’t think anybody gets under Adam’s skin more than Usher and nobody gets under Usher’s skin more than Adam.  They both have that, ‘I’m the coolest guy on this show,’ thing between them and of course, I’m the only hillbilly, so I have no competition. And Shakira’s the only girl so… Those two — they butt heads.”

Good gracious, I adore that man.  Not only is he sarcastic and fun, Blake is the epitome of "what you see is what you get," and I, for one, enjoy a light-hearted talent competition.
