Randy Jackson quits. Mariah Carey quits. Nicki Minaj quits. #POW

Do you know what this means? This means, it took 10 years, 11 months, and 20 days for Yo Yo Randy to make a worthwhile contribution to American Idol. You see, Randy started the "quit before they fire you" trend, as both Mariah and Nicki have announced that they, too, will not return to American Idol.

Quick and painless is the best way to receive American Idol news. Thanks, Dawg!

First, Mariah's PR firm tweeted, "W/ global success of “#Beautiful” (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol."

Mariah has not personally addressed her followers – considering it took her no less than 10 minutes to deliver a single critique on Idol, I imagine she also has issues with Twitter's 140 characters or less limit – but she did retweet the above announcement.

Fox and American Idol's production partners, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, stated, “Mariah Carey is a true global icon – one of the most accomplished artists on the planet – and we feel extremely fortunate that she was able to bring her wisdom and experience to the American Idol contestants this season. We know she will remain an inspiration to Idol hopefuls for many seasons to come.”

Then, just a few hours after that news broke, Nicki tweeted, "Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!"

Her well wishes press release went like this: “Nicki Minaj is a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion to American Idol and who had a tremendous positive impact on so many contestants this season. Given her extremely busy career, we understand and respect her decision and wish her the best.”

As we previously reported, the American Idol bigwigs want an entirely new judging panel for season 13, starting with Jennifer Hudson. They also have their sights set on Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert or Clay Aiken. Where does this leave Keith Urban? That remains to be seen; however, Keith has openly admitted that he wants to judge American Idol again next season.

TELL US – ARE YOU HAPPY OR SAD THAT MARIAH'S OUT? WHAT ABOUT NICKI'S EXIT?
