Alexia Echevarria Talks Returning To Real Housewives Of Miami: “I Needed To Come Back And Tell My Story”

The Real Housewives of Miami - Season 3

Tonight is the season premiere of Real Housewives of Miami. In a surprising twist, Alexia Echevarria was brought back as a full-time cast member after taking a season off to help her son Frankie recover from a near fatal car accident.

Describing this season as “heartfelt…surprising…and explosive," Alexia expresses that she is "very excited" to return to the show!

"I felt like I needed to come back and tell my story and I'm thankful that I am able to participate full-time again," she shares with The Examiner. "I wasn’t ready to participate due to what I was dealing with, and I felt like that part of my life was kind of untold, and yes, there were bits and pieces that viewers got to see, and I feel like this season I was able to come back strong."

Alexia reveals that Frankie's car accident "put everything into perspective, my faith was challenged… My family definitely came closer, but we had many obstacles along the way." Among the obstacles was her older son Peter Rosello's two arrests. One for assault and one for drug possession in April.

Alexia is dismissive about the recent discovery of Peter's drug arrest. "That is old news! That has happened over six months ago even before we started filming season 3," she explains. "And that case was dismissed and he was never charged with anything, he happened to be in the car with someone who had it on him, but nothing ever came out of it.”

"I am no different than any other mother out there who has their fair share of problems with their children," Alexia reminds viewers. "We all have the same problems!”

Besides dueling weddings (Alexia was a bridesmaid in Adriana de Moura's nuptials), this season will take a more intimate look at the women and their relationships.

“I feel like season 3 digs more into our characters and who we really are, in the past it may have been more superficial, but things take time," she says. "For starters we have fewer girls on the show this year, so we will get more camera time and by that the viewers will get to see who we really are.”

"I think every season that the relationships change within the group…," Alexia acknowledges. "I’m like the friendly one of the group. I have so much going on in my personal life, so my drama is a little different from what they go through."

"I truly get along with all of them," Alexia elaborates. "I really like Joanna [Krupaand Lisa [Hochstein] and I’m getting to know them better, and it has been fun."

As for the drama, it appears to still be unfolding despite the fact that filming ended. "Lisa has been trying to get everyone together, and I don’t get involved, because that is not my business and if you’re pissed off, you have the right to be pissed off.”

Outside of the show, Alexia is busy as the editor-in-chief at Venue Magazine and she says she is working on two books; a lifestyle book about entertaining and another about Frankie's accident. "I would really love to get into fashion, but right now my family is my first priority above everything else," Alexia adds.
