Lydia Mclaughlin quit The Real Housewives of Orange County!
As Tamra Barney, Heather Dubrow and Vicki Gunvalson headed off to Hawaii to film season nine of the reality series, Lydia stayed behind by choice. The now-former reality star confirmed her departure. "I compare it to breaking up with a boyfriend you know you're not going to end up with — it's hard, but overall you know you're doing the right thing."

It's not that reality TV wasn't for her, Lydia decided she'd like to spend her time building her brand and possibly developing her own reality show! "I definitely have plans to continue to sparkle fairy dust and be a light! I want to develop our own reality show about our magazine and all the glitz and glamour involved with publishing it." She continued about her post-OC plans, "I want to build my brand outside of the Housewives — I've always been really honest with the producers about that. I knew that while I was filming it that I probably wasn't going to be doing it again."
Interestingly, Lydia stays in touch with two of her former cast mates..the ones who got fired! She confirmed that she's still in contact with Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino. Sounds to me like a confirmation that they really ARE off the show for season nine. I admit I'm kinda shocked even though the rumors have been flying.
Lydia isn't planning to keep watching the show, '"It'd be like seeing your ex-boyfriend with a new girl!"
