With the premiere of the Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi's Wedding, earlier this week, we got a front row seat for the planning of Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker's Coming to America-themed wedding. And if you saw any of the last season with our girls from Atlanta, you knew that this spin-off was going to be drama-filled. At the end of the season Kandi's family had yet to approve of Todd — and that is putting it kindly — and Kandi had not started planning her wedding, despite wanting to have it in a couple of months.

Bravotv.com sat down Todd Tucker to get his take on meeting Kandi, his relationship with Mama Joyce and her sisters and Carmon, Kandi's best friend and personal assistant who quit over the wedding in the premiere episode.

Two seasons ago the housewives took a trip to Africa, where a certain production assistant caught Kandi's eye.

Bravotv.com: Were you really trying to play it cool around Kandi when you first met in Africa?

Todd Tucker: I was trying to play it cool in Africa as it's against the rules to cross the line with the talent. In Production that's a big NO NO!

Bravotv.com: What was your first impression of Kandi when you met her?

Todd: I loved her smile, she had a great butt! LOL! She seemed very humble and genuine.

On Sunday's premiere you also saw that Kandi and Todd planned on having the "team" that Kandi already employed help plan their wedding. They were less than enthusiastic. Even Kandi's friend and personal assistant, Carmon.

Bravotv.com: Were you surprised by the slow start and lack of enthusiasm from the team?

Todd: I was very surprised at the slow start as they are all getting paid a weekly wage. I felt like if you're not excited because you're helping Kandi with her dream wedding, then at least do what your paid to do.

Bravotv.com: Did you think Carmon was going to take your critiques so personally?

Todd: I wasn't surprised that Carmon took my critiques so personally. She has a problem separating the business and the personal when it comes to her job. That's why I think it's not a good idea to hire friends or family to work directly for you.

But the most shocking revelation came when Kandi's aunts — Mama Joyce's sisters — changed their minds and decided to give Kandi their blessings for the wedding. Much to the dismay of a certain Mama.

Bravotv.com: Was it a relief to have Kandi's aunts on board with the wedding? Have you gotten closer with them?

Todd: I was very happy Kandi's aunts were on board for the wedding. I felt like if they could jump on board, then Momma Joyce would be next. My relationship with Kandi's aunts is great. Not so much with Momma Joyce.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi's Wedding airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo
