Lisa Vanderpump Reveals The Positives Of Joining Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills!

American Humane Association Celebrates with Lisa Vanderpump

Lisa Vanderpump has capitalized in a huge way from joining Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills. With one spinoff, Vanderpump Rules, a success and rumors that another spinoff for PUMP is headed to Bravo, Lisa is discussing how reality TV changed her life — for the better! Now that’s an statement we don’t often hear from reality stars…

“It was a good move,” Lisa acknowledges of how reality TV has bolstered her restaurant business (no matter how many writers complained of dismal food tours!). In addition to restaurants and spinoffs, since teaming up with Bravo, Lisa has added a jewelry collection, a tabletop collection, and both a sangria and vodka to her business platform. And Lisa has no plans of stopping because all of these ventures have “done really well.”

So despite terrible vacations and the occasional onslaught of malicious rumors, does Lisa regret opening up her life to reality TV? Nope!

Lisa shares that initially she turned down a role on RHOBH after being solicited by casting directors due to her high-profile Beverly Hills restaurant and living in a exclusive Beverly Hills community. “I was a sort of a natural selection for the Housewives,” she admits, but she had no interest.

The thought of bringing arguing into her home-life was a huge turn-off for Lisa. “I’d seen one or two [shows] and there were too many altercations. I thought, ‘No – that’s so not me! It’s just too volatile,'” she explained to Bloomberg.

However, then Lisa realized she could work the exposure to her favor. And since signing onto RHOBH, Lisa has channeled reality TV into a platform for gay advocacy, animal awareness issues, and numerous other charitable causes. She has also been honored with several awards, including a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame. And really, could you imagine Bravo without the Gigster?!

Ultimately, after several attempts, an NBC producer convinced Lisa to do a screen-test. After that Lisa agreed to participate. “As long as I can leave with the same integrity I came into this with, and as long as you show an accurate portrayal of me, then I’m happy,” she asserts.

While Lisa, for the most part, has retained her dignity on Housewives, the same cannot be said about several of her castmates! Kim Richards and Brandi Glanville namely.

Good for Lisa for making the most of this reality TV phenomena, not letting it go to her head, and using it to truly bolster her businesses.
