Little Women: NY Recap: Moving Out

LWNY_Bridesmaids_150112-PE-105

Last night on Little Women: NY,   Jason Perez seeks out help from his friends to talk to his parents about moving out. It does not go well. Jordanna James confronts Lila Call about flirting with her boyfriend last episode. And Dawn Lang rocks the boat with Misty Irwin and Kristin Zettlemoyer when she rags on their new apartment.

Lila comes to visit Kristin at home to apologize for telling Elena Gant (from Little Women: L.A.) about Kristin’s divorce. Elena’s rude behavior (whether scripted or not) drove a wedge between Lila – who gave Elena her intel – and almost every other woman at dinner last episode. Bearing flowers, Lila asks Kristin how she’s feeling. Kristin thinks Lila can’t just show up at her door and conveniently be BFFs again. Lila defends Elena’s behavior, saying she didn’t know Elena was a “loose cannon.” Neither did we. Which was why the entire debacle was just plain weird. Kristin reluctantly accepts Lila’s apology because she knows she’s fragile and trying to stay sober. Kristin invites Lila to her and Misty’s housewarming party later.

Jordanna, Jason, and Kristin meet up for some indoor rock climbing. As little people, they have shorter arms & legs, but Jason says they’re used to climbing everywhere in life (on couches, up to counters), so this should be a breeze. Jason motors up the wall while Jordanna talks to Kristin about what a slimy b*tch Lila is, especially because she was mad flirting with Jordanna’s boyfriend Anthony last week. Jordanna doesn’t think Lila deserves forgiveness and thinks Kristin made amends with her too quickly. Jason thinks Lila uses her alcoholism as a crutch. He also brings up the idea of moving out of his parents’ house. In Filipino culture, the kids generally live with their parents until marriage, but Jason is 27 years old with no marriage plans in sight. And he’s ready to fly the coop. Jordanna and Kristin agree to come to his family dinner the next night to offer support as he breaks the news to his very traditional parents.

Across town, Lila’s meeting with her life coach. She admits she misses the ritual of drinking since she’s gotten sober, but doesn’t want to be chemically dependent. Parties suck now, Lila says, but she needs to learn to socialize without it. She sticks to seltzer, but wishes things didn’t need to be so black & white. Couldn’t she just have an itty bitty glass of wine sometimes? she asks. Lila’s life coach is concerned that she’s not owning up to the severity of her problem and is instead essentially romanticizing drinking. That’s dangerous.

Jazmin Lang, Jordanna, and Kristin meet up at a hookah bar to discuss performing tips. Jazmin is looking to break into the industry and since Jordanna & Kristin are seasoned performers, she wants some advice. The ladies advise Jazmin to go for all roles, not just little people roles. Jazmin says she wants to be “Dorothy,” not just another munchkin.

Lila meets Jordanna in “the back of an Italian restaurant,” per Jordanna’s mafia-like instructions, to get confronted about her flirting and sh*t stirring behavior. Jordanna immediately says, “Don’t touch me – why are you touching me?” when Lila pats her arm after they sit down, then launches into attack mode. Lila says she already apologized to Kristin and it’s dunzo. Jordanna thinks Lila is an massive instigator, period. She brings up Lila’s flirting and Lila claims she was “testing” Anthony to make sure he doesn’t have a little people fetish. Lila claims she was looking out for Jordanna, not creeping on her boyfriend. Jordanna says she’s in love with Anthony, so Lila needs to step to the left. Jordanna’s parting comment: “Go f*ck yourself. You’re single – get over it!” Well, well.

The next day, Lila and Jazmin head out to get Jazmin’s head shots taken. Jazmin looks beautiful and has fun with wardrobe while Lila throws her under the bus with the photographer, telling him “She’s really stiff.” Jazmin does look a bit stiff, I guess, but gets into the groove as she goes. Jazmin thanks the photographer and Lila for helping her through the shots, so no drama here after all. Yay!

At Jason’s parents’ house, Jordanna and Kristin arrive for dinner. Jason & his 2 brothers all still live at home, so Jason is the first to initiate moving out of the family homestead. Jason’s parents are adorable, especially his mom, who’s cooked up a fantastic Filipino feast which I want to eat right this second! Jason waits until the meal is underway to bring up his plans. He’s super nervous, but spills the beans & his mom says, “What? You’re going to leave mommy and daddy here!?” Mom, dad, & Jason all start crying while his mother says she can’t believe what she’s hearing. She expects her children to stay with her until they get married. Jason doesn’t want to break his mother’s heart, but he stands firm, even after his father asks, “Don’t you love us?” Jordanna admits that parents of little people are more protective in general, so she understands why his parents are freaking out. They see him as more of a child, not a 27-year old man. Jason’s brothers also try to dissuade him from moving out. Jason says family is still number one, but they’ve got to try to understand his decision. Through tears, his mother says she’ll try to accept it. Jason’s father tells him he’s always welcome to move home again if things don’t work out.

Jason & Lila are out shopping the next day. Jason lets Lila know that Jordanna is still pissed at Lila and isn’t coming to Kristin and Misty’s housewarming party because she doesn’t want to be in the same room as Lila. Meanwhile, Kristin and Misty are prepping for their party. They moved in 3 months ago and think it’s the best place they’ve rented in NY yet, so are excited to show it off. Jason arrives first, commenting that their “dark, shady neighborhood vibe” is not working for him. Dawn and Lila are terrified walking through the ‘hood too. Everyone’s gotta hike up 5 flights of steps because the elevator is out of order. Stairs can be brutal for little people, says Lila, and no one’s happy about it. Dawn starts throwing shade about their sketchy pad right away, but is interrupted by Jazmin and her hubby’s arrival.

Jason shares his news about moving into his own place, but claims he at least wants one in a “good neighborhood.” Kristin defends her digs by pulling out her pink taser & claiming that’s all she needs, yo! Lila’s uncomfortable around all of the alcohol and even goes so far as to sniff Misty’s wine. Not a great sober action. Lila says her life has improved in sobriety, especially regarding her bad decisions with men (like Joe, perhaps?). Jazmin updates the group on her goals as a performer. Dawn (her sister in law) is not supportive of the decision; she thinks it’s degrading and silly. As paralegal, Dawn is one of the only non-performers in the group. She thinks the world doesn’t need another elf or leprechaun. She snarks to Jazmin, “you’ll make a beautiful elf.” Jazmin excuses herself to take a deep breathing break in the bathroom while Kristin and Misty bitch about Dawn’s judgmental attitude in the kitchen. They’re sick of Dawn’s snide comments about their apartment and their performing goals. So, I guess Dawn’s the breakout villain of this episode. But I don’t think she’ll be taking Lila’s place as sh*t stirrer #1 anytime soon!

TELL US: DO YOU THINK DAWN WILL JORDANNA WILL FORGIVE LILA? IS JAZMIN HEADED FOR STARRING ROLES AS A LITTLE PERSON PERFORMER?
