Shannon Beador ‘Devastated’ for Vicki Gunvalson; Is Hopeful Her Marriage is ‘Moving Forward’

Shannon Beador struggles to trust David

Shannon Beador has chosen to expose the rawest details of her marriage this season, but in light of Vicki Gunvalson getting the heartbreaking news of her mother’s passing on last night’s Real Housewives of Orange County, Shannon is trying to express gratitude for what – and who – she has in life. In her blog this week, Shannon reflects on the petty drama she’s trying to squash with Meghan Edmonds, her sympathy for Vicki’s loss, and how she’s trying to move past David’s infidelity.

“This is a very difficult episode to watch,” begins Shannon. “I can’t imagine how incredibly hard it is for Vicki to relive. It is just a reminder to us all that life is precious and that we should be grateful for every moment we have on this earth with our family.” And these precious moments should not be spent on insignificant arguments with thirsty newbie housewives. “We shouldn’t focus on petty things—which brings to me to my phone call with Meghan in this episode,” writes Shannon.

Shannon explains why she invited Meghan to her bunco party, and why she’s done dealing with Meghan’s insipid need for the Napa argument to live on forever. “The party is over and I am done discussing an issue that Meghan wants to be much bigger than it is,” shares Shannon. “I thought it was a perfect opportunity to ‘extend the olive branch’ and show my willingness to move on by inviting Meghan to bunco. I was put off by the way Meghan was speaking to me, but I did my best to stay positive.  When she told me to ‘prove myself’ to her, it didn’t sit well with me. I am not going to beg anyone to come to a party I am hosting, certainly not Meghan.”

Despite the tense phone call, Shannon did have fun with her group of bunco friends, many of whom she’s been playing with for up to 25 years. She expresses, “I was excited to have the ladies meet some of them. As you can see, it is a fun game and even Meghan was cheering and laughing during the ‘game for old people in Mississippi.'” #takethat30yearold!

Getting ready for the bunco party brought its own level of anxiety, though, when David mentioned he’d “seen a woman,” a woman who Shannon initially thought was THE woman with whom David formerly had an affair. (How weird was that conversation, by the way? Is David trying to appear guilty even when he’s not!?) Shannon argues, “It didn’t make sense to me and I thought he was talking ‘in code’ to let me know he had seen his affair. You can see the shock in my eyes. He did not run into her. When that day comes, I am sure it may bring up certain emotions, but that was the past. I trust in the bond I have forged with David in the last year and I know he is committed to me.”

Like so many scenes from this season’s RHOC, last night’s episode revealed another “bump” in Shannon and David’s marriage. She argues that they’re still moving forward despite their issues. “David and I have made a lot of positive progress up to this episode, but you hear me talk about a bump in that progress tonight,” reflects Shannon. “When infidelity happens over the course of months, it isn’t possible to know everything that happened during that time period. The end result, however, is what is most important. If I happen to realize a lie that was told to me during the affair, David affirms his love for me and I feel his remorse. That is communication. That is moving forward. That is love.”

Circling back in her blog to Vicki’s loss, Shannon says she is “devastated” for her friend. She shares that Vicki “had just spoken to her mother that morning and she told Vicki that her blood work was normal and she was going to be around for a long time. To learn such shocking and tragic news is difficult enough, but to do it while being filmed is unimaginable. I know that Vicki’s mother is watching over her and giving her lots of light. I wish there was something I could do to take away the pain.”

Last night was tough to watch. One can only hope Shannon’s depressing marriage crisis can take a back seat for a minute so she can truly help Vicki get through a very tough time.
