Montauk Residents Are Afraid Bravo’s ‘Summer House’ Filming In The Area Will Be The Next “Jersey Shore”

Apparently Bravo is filming a new show in Montauk, New York and it is angering the local residents. They don’t want the show to exploit their community and take off and ironically their protests are giving it even more attention before it has even began airing.

The new show is called Summer House and it is set to follow a group of friends who spend their summer weekends at a house in Montauk which was described as “one of the most exclusive beach areas on the East Coast.” Why are the locals so peeved about the new show? It has a lot to do with a successful reality show from the past.

According to Page SixPeople are very wary about Summer House turning into the next Jersey Shore and they have been speaking out on all forms of social media. One local wrote, “I urge all businesses to not allow them to film in their locations.Think about what ‘Jersey Shore’ did to that community. We need to stop this show from happening. Isn’t ‘The Affair’ enough?”

That show definitely did a lot of harm to the Jersey Shore reputation, but it also brought in a lot of tourism and I assume a lot of money for businesses. Yes, I get that people don’t want their community or its businesses to be tainted in any way, but these kind of shows are never indicative of an entire area or city: they are just about the individuals who signed up to have their lives filmed.

Bravo is clapping back at the concern. A Bravo insider said, “This will be nothing like ‘Jersey Shore.’ We are so much above that. They let loose in a big, aspirational way that is exclusive to this high-end lifestyle.” Also who even knows if Bravo is going to end up airing this show. What if it sucks and there’s a huge fuss for no reason.

TELL US- DO YOU THINK THE MONTAUK RESIDENTS HAVE A RIGHT TO BE UPSET ABOUT THE BRAVO REALITY SHOW? OR ARE THEY OVERREACTING?
