Kyle Richards Scripted TV Series Gets Picked Up By TV Land

We all saw Kyle Richards struggle with family drama during the last Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season when some members of her family were not pleased to find out that she was working on a scripted television show based on her upbringing. Well, hopefully the fam worked out their issues because Kyle’s series American Woman just got picked up by TV Land.

I feel like we always hear about the women of Real Housewives talking about their supposed endeavors in the entertainment industry, but Kyle is actually making this happen which is pretty unusual for the people in this franchise, so props to her for achieving this rare feat.

According to The Wrap, the half-hour show is “set amid the sexual revolution and the rise of second-wave feminism in the 1970s.” Once again, I have to point out that this is not something I expected from a Real Housewife, but the premise actually does sound pretty interesting.

Kyle got some legit actresses on board for the series as well, so it’s safe to say that things are really coming together. Alicia Silverstone stars as Bonnie, a single mother to two young daughters who just left her husband. I have to assume that the young daughters are characters based on Kyle and probably some amalgamation of her sisters Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton.

Alicia’s character has two best friends played by Mena Suvari and Jennifer Bartels.

The first season will be twelve episodes and I’m interested to see how it all comes together and I am really super curious about how Kyle’s family feels about this.
