Basketball Wives

Words can't even describe how much Basketball Wives' Shaunie O'Neal grates on my nerves.  She doesn't own her inner mean girl, and she lets Evelyn Lozada and Tami Roman do her bidding while she sits back feigning clean hands.  This season is going to be no different, I presume.

However, on Monday's premiere, Nostrils promised to be more outspoken and not hold back in what she's thinking.  Did I miss the part where she promises to be arrogant to the point of making me nauseous?  Because she is.

The Monday reality TV viewer numbers are in and they're not too shabby!

Basketball Wives is back with a bang!  The season 5 premiere episode pulled in 2.39 million viewers.  Now let's just hope that the audience wasn't turned off by the hour long 'woe is Evelyn' fest.  I don't mean to be cold hearted, but it was a bit much and I hope they don't plan to dwell in it all season.

The Real Housewives of Orange County saw a small dip in fans tuning in for part two of this three part reunion extravaganza.  That said, the show is still holding strong above 2 million, with 2.03 million viewers this week.

Real Housewives of Miami continues to be the least watched show in the franchise, but it held last week's audience – sticking with 1.3 million tuning in again this week.

This is going to be good, y'all!  The mean girls are back with tagalong Suzie Ketcham trailing not far behind.  It will be interesting to see if Evelyn Lozada, Shaunie O'Neal, and Tami Roman can keep their promise to keep tempers in check.  Newbie Tasha Marbury is also going to be thrown into the craziness, but not this week.  Of course, first VH1 needs to explain away Ev & Ocho.

A bittersweet melody plays as we're treated to a photo montage of Evelyn and Chad Johnson's wedding peppered with redacted police reports and Chad's mugshot.  A somber Evelyn tells of her brother-in-law's death two days after she learned of Chad's cheating and the subsequent head butt that left her with several stitches in her forehead.  She feels like people blamed her for ruining Chad's career.  Is this Basketball Wives or the lead in for a 20/20 special?

I don't know about you, but I'm starting to get curious about the new season of Basketball Wives.  The show's mean girls are promising left and right that things will change from the bottle-throwing, hair pulling, dark tone of the last few seasons, but I just don't believe it.

Evelyn Lozada is now the one who is touting big changes in her behavior, while reminding everyone of what she suffered in her short marriage to Chad Johnson.  She vows she wants to be someone of whom her daughter can be proud, and she certainly doesn't want any younger fans emulating her violent ways.  Evelyn wants to set a positive example.

Many moons (and jobs!) ago, I taught first grade.  In fact, my first class of little ones just started college this week, making me realize I must have been the youngest first-grade teacher in the history of the world!  ;)  That said, I spent a lot of time tying shoes, wiping noses, and saying "use your words."

Who knew that that phrase would resurface (for different reasons) as a blogger while watching the crazy antics of the women of Basketball Wives! Well, I'm happy to report that Tami Roman is seconding Shaunie O'Neal's sentiments that this new season will be less about yanking out hair and more about building up relationships.  That's right!  Tami is now ready to use her words…and not her fists!

Sister 2 Sister is dishing on a recent interview with Tami where she talks about how she will be showing a calmer, more centered, side of herself on the upcoming season.

You wanted them to go away.  You petitioned the network.  You're secretly glad they'll be back next week.  Am I right?  The wine-bottle throwing, hair pulling, pocketbook hostage holding, Non-MFing-Factor yelling ladies of Basketball Wives are returning to VH1, but this time we're promised a softer, less violent side of the group.  Yeah, right!

Not only does Shaunie O'Neal get into it with her nearest and dearest Tami Roman, but there is also a lot of new drama courtesy of new cast mate Tasha Marbury.  We'll be treated to a post-Chad Johnson Evelyn Lozada, and Suzie Ketcham continues to do what she does best–stir up the insanity by talking out of both sides of her mouth!

Can't wait?  Check out the extended trailer to tide you over until the premiere on August 19th!

Someone start playing the violin because Basketball Wives' Shaunie O'Neal has a sad story to tell.  Not only is her show criticized left and right for portraying women in a hateful, bitter, and violent light (she's working on that, y'all!), but now she may have given someone the boot far too soon.

That's right!  Shaunie is having second thoughts about canning former friend Jennifer Williams.  While Nostrils doesn't lose any sleep over firing Royce Reed, she's starting to feel melancholy about dear ol' Jenn.

The premiere of Basketball Wives is a few short weeks away and finally the trailer for the new season is out and about!

Shockingly it seems they are incorporating footage from Evelyn Lozada's brief but not so sweet marriage to Chad Johnson. The two were filming a spinoff called Ev & Ocho about their wedding, which obviously got canned, but alas the wedding footage will see the light of day.
