Last night’s Basketball Wives finally gave us some new venues for the ladies one-on-one and two-on-one chats. There is farm scenery and four-wheeling. Cocktails are enjoyed on a balcony, walks are taken on the beach, and I think I even saw some roller blades. Sure there were the regular bar and restaurant chats, but gracious, if they are going to stick to this format, I am thankful they mixed it up just a little.
The women are back in Miami, and mean girls Evelyn and Tami meet with their leader Shaunie to brag about their Kesha bashing dinner. Evelyn touts her $h!t sniffing abilities when it comes to getting the dirt on people. At least the first part sounds about right. Shaunie is having a birthday dinner and wants all the ladies in attendance. She admits to Evelyn that Jen will also be at the celebration. Evelyn knows she’s going to be uber-uncomfortable, but she’s willing to be in that situation for her friend…just don’t let her have more than two drinks. Tami asks to be seated across the table from Jen and Evelyn so she can watch all the drama unfold from the front row.

One thing is for certain - in between episodes of VH1′s Basketball Wives, we’re sure to hear about the ladies. They don’t want to be forgotten during the week! Even the new girls are quickly learning that.
On the last episode KENYA BELL called you a “hater” when you stepped back from her project. How did you feel about that?
That’s one of those situations where there was a lot more back-story. When I said, ‘If it’s not gonna be perfect, I don’t want to be a part of it,’it seemed like I was being really short with her but that was not what was meant. Kenya was just very inexperienced. She’d never shot a video, never hired dancers, never had a story board. There were so many things she didn’t know and I was trying to enlighten her and consult her and she just didn’t want to hear it. Because she didn’t have a budget and because everything was kind of thrown together I felt that it was best for me to remove myself from it so that we could still remain friends. I made a professional move and I think she was offended by it. She then threw that jab at me during her dance auditions.
The issue on your race, and where you’re from, has been brought up time after time. Can you tell us about your struggles being multiracial?
It’s never easy growing up, being half of one thing and half of something else especially when they’re complete opposites. I grew up in the South and when I was born it was never cool for interracial couples to be out and about, and it was looked down upon by the white community. My father and his side of the family weren’t in my life at all, so I was a little mixed kid growing up around all white people. My family loved me and never made feel any different but in school and other places I never felt white enough. As an adult, I’m around black women that I want to relate to and now I’m not black enough. It’s like I can’t win for losing. My question of “blackness” was brought up on a previous episode by Tami. She said that I “didn’t look like a Kesha.” Whether my name is Kesha, Shaquana, or Becky—it doesn’t matter. I identify myself as black. I feel if I want to relate to you as a black woman, why would you ever want to push me away?
Just from viewing the few episodes that have aired, do you wish you’d done or said anything differently?
I didn’t want what happened between Kenya and I to be so drawn out. I didn’t want to keep arguing with her because it wasn’t worth it. The first dinner we had with Tami and Evelyn [Lozada], when we were meeting Shaunie [O'Neal], wasn’t the place to be hashing things out. And of course when you’re talking about something and you have three other opinions, things escalate and become a little bigger than what they really are. It didn’t really need to go there but that’s what the show is—all of us as a group talking about stuff. More than anything, I’m just not used to the cattiness and people being so vocal about their judgment of others.
Last week, both TAMI and KENYA tweeted that a scene about you exchanging numbers with KENYA’s husband was edited out. What was this all about?
That was such a non-issue that it wasn’t even covered on the show. The show is all about drama. If there was something really there, don’t you think they would’ve jumped on that and made it a full storyline? They’re not trying to protect me anyway, I’m the new girl. I saw Kenya’s husband out in New York and it had been two years since I had seen either one of them. I was under the impression that they were still together and didn’t know that they weren’t. We had all exchanged information when were friends way back. When we started filming the show, I think he found out that Kenya was doing it and he texted me. He sent me a text that said “Hey.” I didn’t respond to it and I immediately told Kenya—end of story. It was nothing. That’s why we didn’t see it on the show.
Hmm…she actually sounds relatively normal, which makes me wonder if she will last. Moving on to Kesha’s biffle Royce Reed, TMZ is reporting that her custody battle with basketballer Dwight Howard continues to rage on in court. Dwight is fighting for primary custody of his son with Royce, after filing documents with the court, claiming his former girlfriend tries to prevent him from seeing their son on his scheduled days. He further alleges, Royce hinders his ability to have a relationship with his son.
Royce isn’t taking any of this lightly, and she had her attorney file a motion this week to have Judge Tim Shea recuse himself from the case. In the filings, Royce claims that the judge is partial to Dwight and has a thing against baby-mamas. The documents go on to state that Judge Shea did not allow Royce to present her side of the case at a recent hearing.
In addition to the motion, Royce’s attorney filed an affidavit stating the judge told the parties during the hearing that he was going to award primary custody to Howard even though neither side had yet to present evidence. He later decided to delay his decision. Royce’s lawyer also cites a potential conflict of interest as the judge’s website lists one of Dwight’s lawyers as endorsing Shea. That can’t be good!
Many have wondered why Royce’s son hasn’t been featured on the show. Dwight had Royce sign an agreement which prohibits her from having their son on the series or even talking about him on the show.
Finally, Jennifer Williams just continues to build her brand away from the show. TheYBF.com has pictures of Jen’s recent photo shoot for the April/May issue of Today’s Black Woman Style Report. Those shots are below. You have to admit that divorce really seems to suit her. A new episode of BBW airs tonight at 8PM ET on VH1.
COMMENTS ON KESHA’S INTERVIEW? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ROYCE’S CUSTODY BATTLE? THOUGHTS ON JEN’S NEW PICTURES?

This week has been a battle of the VH1 blogs between two (former?) friends of Basketball Wives, and it’s not pretty.
Royce Reeddiscusses Monday’s episode, and she has some choice words for her friend Tami Roman…and you’d better believe Tami has somethings to say to Royce as well!
Royce begins, “[F]rom the looks of it Tami had no intentions of ‘listening’ to what Kesha [Nichols] had to say because in Tami Law, she should’ve come to her first. I love you, Tami, but once again I can’t condone your actions. What you did at that dinner was not ‘keeping it real’ it was ‘keeping it rude and disrespectful.’” I found myself ducking when I typed that, terrified Tami was going to throw something at me from all the way in Miami for just repeating Royce’s words!
“There is a way to speak to people, and calling them out their name repeatedly when they are attempting to be respectful to you was not it. It’s sad to say that last night’s episode came across as bullying. That’s NOT the Tami I have gotten to know away from ‘this situation.’ The Tami I know is genuinely funny, kind, professional and respectful. I can call her at any time for real advice and she’s never reluctant to give it. The Tami I saw last night was not the Tami I’ve grown to love as a friend and would be in my wedding. Hopefully more anger management will help because there has to be more to this story.” Hopefully the compliments Royce bestows upon the “off-screen” Tami will keep her from becoming Tami’s next punching bag.
Finally, Royce addresses viewers who believe she doesn’t have Tami’s back. “A few have questioned my friendship with Tami due to me ‘calling her out’ in my blogs. That’s disturbing due to the fact she does the same to me,” Royce states. “I blog for vh1.com, I can’t be biased. I can’t ride or die for ‘wrong.’ Tami and I do not have a co-signing friendship. We are real friends and will call each other out be it right, wrong, bitch, bougie, etc. I will never sugarcoat anything and neither will she. Do we argue? Hell yes. Do we get over it? Of course! She knows if she needs me I’m there…” Hmmm, you may be there for her Royce, but will Tami even care?
Um, it doesn’t sound like it. Not one to typically blog about the show, Tami felt the need to clear the air (and explain her atrocious behavior) this week.
Of Royce, Tami writes, “I thought that we were real friends, but I personally feel that your position on this is stepping over bounds. As a friend, I would expect you to have a neutral position and not try to defend a grown woman who doesn’t deserve it. You can be friends with both of us without voicing your opinion on the matter because truthfully you weren’t there to witness ANY of it firsthand.”
“You are watching the edited version and basing your so-called ‘non bias’ opinion on that OR you are taking Keisha’s version of what happened and coming at me sideways,” Tami explains, continuing, “There have been PLENTY of times when I haven’t agreed with things you have done or said and I addressed those things with you in private out of respect for you. I don’t bring my concerns to anyone but you and I definitely don’t discuss how I may feel about certain situations with the other girls. As far as they know, I have always had your back even when you were wrong.”
She concludes, “Additionally, there have also been plenty of times when people have voiced their opinion of you around me. First thing I say, as your friend is, ‘Royce is my friend and I don’t want to get involved.’ I would have appreciated you taking the same position. I choose not to get involved with things that don’t pertain to me out of loyalty to the people I call friends. I feel saddened that you couldn’t reciprocate. We view ‘real’ friendship differently and thus we may not be real friends…”
Two things…I love that Tami doesn’t even take the time to spell Kesha’s name correctly, and I find it hilarious when these ladies blame editing. However, Tami does blame a lot of her issues with Kesha based on things the viewers didn’t see. Addressing her new nemesis, Tami says, “To be clear, upon meeting you, I asked you respectfully to discuss anything you had to say about me…WITH ME. I wasn’t confrontational nor was I argumentative. Of course that part was edited out of the show; however you, Royce and Kenya [Bell] know what I said.”
Furthermore, Tami continues, “I don’t walk around with boxing gloves on and I don’t fight everyone I meet. I just feel you should’ve been a real woman and brought your concerns “directly” to me. I can assure you that if you had our dealings with each other might not be so rocky.” Good to know about the boxing gloves. Good. To. Know. Tami also claims that Kesha’s constant crying about “not being black enough” is a lie, and had we seen scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor, we’d know that.
She asserts, “Do me a favor, don’t be such a liar and manipulator. I know you have friends in high “Executive Producer” places, but let’s keep this all the way real. When I met you, I approached you in a friendly manner and I did not have any issues with you what so ever. Everyone in this situation knows I was told you were Caucasian, so when I met you that is why I asked you. In that same conversation (which was edited out), upon hearing your answer, I said that I thought you were mixed but wasn’t sure of what it was…my saying that I thought you were mixed with something was in fact ACKNOWLEDGING that you may be of African American decent. I am a product of mixed heritage and identify myself as a black woman also. I NEVER said you weren’t ‘black’ enough… that is a flat out lie!”
And there you have it, or don’t have it…according to editing. What about that “Executive Producer” dig? Ms. Shaunie can’t be too pleased with that one!
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE BLOGS? IS ROYCE IN THE WRONG? THOUGHTS ON TAMI’S EDITING COMMENTS?
Last night’s Basketball Wives was all over the place – charity events, fake dinners, launch parties, and Central Park. Even better? The veterans can’t decide which newbie to hate on, so they just go back and forth between confronting Kenya and Kesha. Always in the middle? Suzie, of course!
Oh Jen, glad to see you again! Yeah, I’m just being polite. Suzie heads to Jen’s new NYC digs because she is bursting at the seams at to talk more shiz about Kenya. She shares the video shoot debacle when Kenya and her posse didn’t realize what all went into renting out the club. Give me a break, Suzie. She sounds like a twelve-year-old.
Kesha and Evelyn meet for dinner because Evelyn thinks Kesha is pretty cool. Kesha is hosting a charity event and she doesn’t want the same kind of behavior that Suzie brought to Royce’s event. Evelyn would love to support her event, but she doesn’t want drama if Jen is also invited. Kesha would like everyone to attend, but if she has to choose between Evelyn and Jennifer, Evelyn will get the invitation. However, Kesha is quick to remind Evelyn that she has no problem with Jen. She does relay her issues with Tami, and Evelyn believes those can easily be resolved if Kesha shoot straight with Tami.

Do you, dear readers, take Evelyn Lozadaand Chad Ochocinco, to have and to hold, on Tivo and DVR, in boredom and in drama, in smackdowns and in make-ups, forsaking all groupies, as long as the season lives? I do am having cold feet. Unfortunately, there’s nothing I can do about it.
As Reality Tea reported yesterday, the Basketball Wives star, who of course, has never been the wife of a basketball player and her NFL player fiancé (why are they on that show?) are getting a spin-off. The show will follow the couple’s wedding planning up until their big day…should it actually happen.
VH1 confirms that recent rumors are true, and the premiere will occur in September of this year. How will I ever wait that long to see if Evelyn is able to make an honest man out of Chad? The working title of the series is the super catchy Ev and Ocho. If you say it fast, it almost sounds like a fancy brand of olive oil. If Evelyn starts hawking her own brand of EVOO in the near future, we’ll know she reads this blog…and she may have lawsuit on her hands.
The series will be comprised by eight half-hour episodes, culminating in a special two-part wedding special. The press release cites that fans of Evelyn’s, who have watched her life unfold for four seasons on Basketball Wives, will get a special behind-the-scenes peek at the couple’s impending nuptials. We have seen Ev and Ocho’s (that will never get old) relationship on screen since its inception, so it’s only natural we get to be in on the wedding-planning planning as well, right? Hey, it worked (so far) for Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann!
Of course, the show won’t be all dress fittings, cake tastings, and guest list debacles, although, celebrity wedding planner Diann Valentine will be on-hand to juggle the pressures of choreographing the “star” studded extravaganza. The program will also focus on the hardships faced by Ev and Ocho (still not old) as they face rumors of infidelity, nosy paparazzi, and criticism in the media. Perhaps they could avoid such things by not making their wedding into a media circus…but I digress. The audience will also witness family turmoil regarding who will accompany Evelyn down the aisle.
Make sure to choose between the chicken and prime rib, find your plus one, and RSVP to what is sure to be the most entertaining wedding series ever…on VH1…that debuts in September…and stars Ev and Ocho.

ARE YOU EXCITED TO WATCH ALL THE PLANNING THAT WILL GO INTO EV AND OCHO’S WEDDING? WILL YOU BE TUNING IN TO EV AND OCHO? ANYONE WANT TO PLACE BETS WHETHER THE TWO-PART WEDDING EXTRAVAGANZA WILL ACTUALLY OCCUR?
After months of rumblings and unconfirmed reports, TMZ is reporting that Evelyn, star of Basketball Wives, and NFL fiancé Chad, have inked a deal with VH1 for a spinoff about their upcoming wedding. You now, the one most people, including me, still don’t believe will ever happen!
Evelyn An insider tells TMZ that Evelyn and Chad will each take home $300,000 for their spinoff, which is scheduled to begin filming in the next couple of weeks. As filming is still ongoing for the current season of Basketball Wives.
Negotiations on the series reportedly ended last week, and VH1 is expected to make an official announcement this week.
Moving on to newbieKenya Bell, aka this season’s Meeka Claxton! More bad news for Kenya as she is not only hated by her costars but her husband too, who just filed for divorce.
TMZ reports former NBA star Charlie Bell has filed for divorce in a Michigan court citing a breakdown in his marriage.
This doesn’t exactly come as a big surprise as Kenya was famously arrested back in May 2011 for attacking Charlie with a box cutter… in front of their children. Classy.
Kenya was ultimately charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence, but was able to avoid jail time by pleading guilty to the lesser charge of misdemeanor domestic violence. A photo of Kenya’s mug shot is below!
A new episode of Basketball Wives airs tonight on VH1 at 8/7c and a preview is below as well.

The Basketball Wives (are any of them still wives?) are quick to defend the most recent episode. The women, who have been on the show since its inception, still seem to take great pleasure in passive aggressively taking down the new blood. Case in point? Kenya.
Oh, Kenya Bell. Kenya, Kenya, Kenya. She’s had a tough time as a newbie integrating with her fellow cast mates. If they aren’t blatantly mocking her YouTube videos, they are bashing on the disorganized way in which she approaches her budding music career, or talking smack about her weave. Can’t a girl catch a break?
The YBF.com breaks down a recent radio interview Kenya gave to Detroit’s FM 98′s morning show featuring COCO, Foolish, & Mr. Chase. Kenya dishes on this week’s episode. She explains why she was unprepared for her meeting with Tami Roman’s “team” and how she felt to see the other women talking so much crap about her.
In the interview, Kenya, who is from Detroit, begins by stating she is “mad as hell with these hot-ass-mess-chicks. These heffas is hating! We film and you don’t know what people are saying behind your back. So it’s like ‘wow… really?’ It’s crazy!” Wowzers.
Viewers will remember that fateful meeting between Kenya and Tami’s “people” where she showed up late, with no promotional photos and a portable CD player I would have given my right arm for back in 1998. Kenya is adamant that the meeting wasn’t totally as it seemed. She explains, “That was not like a music managing group. Tami’s team is a design team. All they do is basically style and pictures.” Continuing, Kenya says, “They really don’t do anything with music they just wanted to hear my song… they weren’t a music group or anything like that. They basically just do photos and styling for an album cover, etc…”
Kenya also wants to set the record straight about the coat she was wearing that Tami called a “peasant coat.” She says the coat actually cost her roughly $3,000.00 and bears the Save the Queen label. So there!
While it appeared that Kenya was being ganged up on for those ridiculous–but I’ll give her stupid brave–online videos, they have at the very least garnered her lots of attention. She tells the radio crew about her twitter trending, “Third week in a row! So I was just like, ‘Yall hate is making me great!’”
Of course, like all reality stars, especially the new girls who know their time could be fleeting, Kenya is vague about her returning for a second season of the show. She admits, “I don’t know… we’ll see how it all ends up. I’m just the new girl and there’s new girls every year. They just go in on the new girl.” However, Kenya isn’t concerned about how others may perceive her. She states, “My pageant history has given me the confidence where I can hear people talk mess and say whatever and I can still see myself how I see myself as a beautiful talented smart person who is goal orientated and driven.”
And “talk mess” they will. Evelyn Lozada devotes some of her precious personal blog time to the season’s newcomer. I have to admit that ol’ Evelyn didn’t come down on her nearly as hard as I would have expected.
She writes, “[O]n to KENYA! What in the world is going on in that girl’s head (no pun intended)? That weave-wig has to go…like now! Seriously, before she continues to pursue her singing career (and to her credit, she can sing) yet she needs to set up an appointment with @tamiroman’s glam squad, quick like and in a hurry.” Evelyn also feels the need to put in her two cents on the discord between Kenya and fellow new girl Kesha Nichols.
Evelyn observes, “The beef between her and Kesha is a mess. I don’t really know what to say. I think Kenya could have come at Kesha a little better especially since Kesha is the thorough and professional type. I know we are filming and we approach things when we meet up however Kenya should’ve had that conversation with Kesha in private. There was no need to throw a jab like that in front of all those people. I’m all about keeping it 100 but that was a bit much.” That’s a fair opinion, don’t you think? Evelyn is, after all, notorious for fighting her battles off camera and keeping it klassy on the show, right? Right? RIGHT? Oh, gracious.
In other Basketball Wives news, Tami is hating on Kesha. On an upcoming episode, Tami and Kesha have a brawl. Did it have anything to do with Kesha trying to move in on Kenya’s husband? Tami recently tweeted about the most recent episode, “OK so they just cut the part out where Keisha [sic] exchanged numbers with @kenyabell’s husband & tried 2keep it on the low #shady.” If that’s true, Evelyn won’t be the only one bringing dramz this season!
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF KENYA’S INTERVIEW? HAS SHE RECEIVED AN UNFAIR EDIT? DO THE OTHER LADIES KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THE NEWBIES TO JUDGE THEM? WHO WOULD YOU BET ON IN A FIGHT, KENYA OR KESHA?
Last night’s Basketball Wives was, per the usual, a hot mess of hating on the new girls, horrific dancing, and bad behavior at a charity event. Hmmm, was it a rerun?
The episode begins in Miami, with Evelyn coming over to Tami’s house to visit. Evelyn is so over the infidelity rumors, and Tami totally understands the lifestyle of an athlete, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s cheating on her. She advises her friend to ignore all the press. Evelyn has tried to tell Chad that the rumors don’t just affect their relationship, they affect their children. Tami is convinced the pair will be happily married in no time.
Evelyn takes the red-eye to New York to meet the new girls with Suzie. Evelyn is keen on Kesha’s style, but she is questioning Kenya’s weave. Kesha can’t get over Suzie’s constant penis references. For Suzie, Evelyn brings up Kenya’s Youtube videos. Evelyn is impressed that Kenya is open to taking down the videos, after hearing that they aren’t sexy or good. Evelyn feels a tad (just a tad) badly about bringing the videos’ suckiness to Kenya’s attention.
