Dancing With The Stars

It’s official! Following weeks of speculation, ABC has officially confirmed Brad Womack will be returning as the new Bachelor.

The announcement came during last night’s episode of Dancing With The Stars.  For those of you not familiar with Brad, he was the season 11 Bachelor back in 2007, and became infamous after dumping both of his final two picks.

ABC is however claiming Brad, 37, is now a changed man.  According to the network, Brad has undergone “intensive therapy” and has been on a “quite painful journey of self-awareness” since the 2007 fiasco.

Brad, a Texas bar owner, is also set to appear on the Ellen show today, during which he will admit to having some “commitment issues” in the past.

“More importantly, that [Bachelor] process is difficult,” said Brad in the Ellen interview. “I thought that I was as open as I was supposed to be and clearly I wasn’t. I walked away and wound up all alone and left two girls standing there.”

Brad also assures fans of the show that things will be different this go.  “I know it’s tough to believe it’s a television show but…I am a completely different person. I don’t want to visit that thought.”

Moving right along to last night’s Dancing With The Stars episode.  For the most part, all of the stars showed major improvement over their first dance with the sole exception of Michael Bolton, who earned the lowest score of the night – a 12 for his dull jive, which Bruno called the worst jive dance in the history of the show.

Despite being toted as the one to beat, Brandy and partner Maksim failed to impress last night, falling to the middle of the pack with a score of 21.  The highest score of the night once again went to Jennifer Grey, scoring a 24 for her impressive quickstep dance.

A full recap of last night’s scores below -

Jennifer Grey & Derek Hough: 24
Audrina Patridge & Tony Dovolani: 23
Bristol Palin & Mark Ballas: 22
Kyle Massey & Lacey Schwimmer: 22
Brandy & Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 21
Kurt Warner & Anna Trebunskaya: 21
Rick Fox & Cheryl Burke: 21
Florence Henderson & Corky Ballas: 19
Margaret Cho & Louis van Amstel: 18
The Situation & Karina Smirnoff: 18
Michael Bolton & Chelsie Hightower: 12

After taking off last season of Dancing With The Stars, professional dancer Karina Smirnoff is now opening up about her current dancing ‘Situation,’ her new boyfriend, and working with her former fiance.

In the interview with Access Hollywood, Karina discusses dancing with Jersey Shore’s The Situation. “He hasn’t hit on me! And I’m taking it as an insult,” Karina joked about the rumors the two would end up hooking up. “Like, what am I? A grenade?”

In Jersey Shore terms, a grenade is an unattractive female. “We’re like brother and sister,” Karina adds, however making it clear the two do have some chemistry. “We laugh, we definitely have some flirtatious kind of mystery.”

Another reason we shouldn’t expect a Karina/Situation hookup? Well, for one Karina has a boyfriend. Karina, who has been dating pro baseball player Brad Penny for months now, says Brad and The Situation have become buddies. “They love each other and they exchanged phone numbers,” she said.

Karina also opens up about having to work with her former fiance Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who is now partnered up with Brandy. Karina and Maksim broke off their engagement exactly a year ago.

“I was a little concerned about that coming into this season and that was one of the main reasons why I wanted last season off,” she told AH. “It’s cool… It’s my job; I love what I do; I love dancing; I love choreographing and I get paid for it so it’s pretty much you know perfect scenario, perfect situation. I wish him all the best.”

Moving on to tonight’s episode of DWTS. What can we expect? According to TMZ, Bristol Palin will be dancing the quickstep to “You Can’t Hurry Love,” Audrina Patridge will be dancing the quickstep as well to “Love Machine,” and The Situation will also be dancing the quickstep to “We No Speak Americano.”

Multiple outlets also reported last week that following the season premiere no show, Sarah Palin will be in attendance tonight.

Dancing With The Starsresident hottie Maksim Chmerkovskiy is speaking out about the current season of the show in a new interview with E! Online.

In the interview, Maksim touches on the topic of his ex-girlfriend former dancing partner Erin Andrews. Though Maksim refuses to reveal what exactly went down with Erin, it was reported weeks ago that the two briefly dated before eventually ending their relationship after a short period. Maksim also discusses his current dance partner, Brandy and why he is impressed with Bristol Palin.

Excerpts from Maksim’s interview below -

How happy are you about last night’s show? You came in second with 23 points.
Very happy! I’ve been always telling Brandy that you just have to get the first show out of the way. I think she did an amazing job for the first time, for the nerves, and anxiety and all that stuff. I really enjoyed our dance.

What’s up for you and Brandy next week?
We’re doing the jive. We’re still testing the waters out with Brandy to see what she’s comfortable with, what she’s going to be better at…She’s a very versatile person with so many looks. She can just smile and look adorable and innocent and all that, but she has a hot and sassy side as well.

Were you surprised at how well Bristol did?
Bristol did great! I think Bristol has a lot to prove and she certainly tries her best. She shouldn’t put pressure on herself. If there’s no pressure, there are no expectations and she can just walk out and do her thing. I applaud her bravery for even being on the show.

Will we ever see you and Erin dance again on the show?
I came back to dance with Mel for our 100th show. You never know, maybe they’ll bring us back. I would love to dance with Erin again for sure if she would like to but at the moment right now, this very second, my mind is on what Brandy and I are going to be doing next week.

Why is everyone so obsessed with you and Erin and trying to figure out what was going on between the two of you?
I think we showed partnership beyond just the show. I’ve apologized to our fans because romance or not, they will probably never know because I’m a private person. I put out as much as I can on Twitter, my website, and my YouTube channel, but just to an extent. What Erin and I had is between me and Erin.

The first results show of the new season of Dancing With The Stars aired last night with David Hasselhoff ending up as the show’s first casualty.

The elimination came down to David, who earned 15 points for his stiff Cha Cha Cha, and Disney star Kyle Massey, who received an impressive 23 points for his first dance.

David’s elimination was a bit shocking considering he was one of the more popular “stars” on the show, but not so shocking when you take into consideration the fact that his many fans in Germany were unable to vote for him.

David however took his elimination in stride.  “It’s been a great ride,” he said following his elimination announcement. “I feel bad for Kym because she worked so hard to try and get me where I was going. I’m just so proud that my daughters are here and got to see me go this far. So, it’s great.”

The 11th season of Dancing With The Stars premiered last night on ABC. While the general consensus amongst critics seems to be that this cast is not as good as last season’s, E! Online is reporting today that with over 21 million viewers tuning in last night, the ratings are up 3.5 million viewers from last fall’s premiere.

Last night brought us some great surprises, Kyle Massey anyone? While some other stars failed to sizzle on the dance floor. Three of the stars tied for last place with a score of 15. Those stars are The Situation, Margaret Cho, and David Hasselhoff. In the case of The Situation, he had a bit of an excuse as he only had 6 days to practice before the premiere, compared to the 3 weeks his competitors had.

The belles of the ball last night would have to be Brandy and Jennifer Grey. Brandy received praises from the judges for her graceful Viennese Waltz to go along with her score of 23. Jennifer Grey also danced the waltz following her emotional practice session with partner Derek Hough. Jennifer scored the highest point of the night, receiving a 24. Trying for second place alongside Brandy was Kyle Massey, who shocked the audience with his great Cha Cha Cha performance.

Despite the comparisons to Kate Gosselin, Bristol Palin gave a solid performance, receiving a score of 16. The most talked about event of the night however came in the form of an absence from the show. Despite numerous reports from multiple media outlets confirming that Sarah Palin would be at the show last night, the former Governor of Alaska ended up being a no show. According to the Today Show, Sarah had a last minute change of heart and decided she did not want to steal the spotlight away from daughter Bristol. Sarah will reportedly attend next week’s show.

Unlike last season, one of the dancing couples will be eliminated during the first week of competition. The results show airs tonight on ABC at 9/8c.

Dancing With The Stars

The 11th season of the hit series Dancing With The Stars is set to premiere tonight on ABC!

So what can we expect during the 2-hour premiere? TMZ is reporting that the most shocking performance will come from teen mom Bristol Palin and her partner Mark Ballas, as the two will dance the Cha Cha Cha to “Mama Told Me (Not to Come).” Bristol will reportedly rip off some “tear-away clothes” during the performance.

It gets even better as TMZ also confirms Bristol’s mom Sarah Palin will be in the audience tonight. Sources tell TMZ security has been heightened at CBS Television City in LA, the place where DWTS is broadcast.

In other DWTS news, Brandy and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy are said to be the ones to beat, while The Situation is at the biggest disadvantage, as his competitors were able to get in two extra weeks of practice, while he was still filming the 3rd season of the Jersey Shore.

DWTS 11 premieres tonight at 8/7c on ABC.

Bristol Palin has been referred to as this season’s Kate Gosselin on Dancing With The Stars, and according to a new report by TMZ, the Alaska teen is living up to Kate’s diva reputation.

TMZ reported this weekend that Bristol has been missing a lot of practice with her professional dance partner Mark Ballas. Sources close to Mark tell the site that he has been complaining about Bristol missing practices and is worried her performance on the show will be “embarrassing.”

Mark reportedly canceled last Monday’s rehearsal because of a party for his mother, then Bristol canceled on Tuesday because she had committed to giving a speech, and canceled on Wednesday because her son, Tripp, was ill. Bristol was also only able to practice a half day on Thursday.

The good news seems to be that Bristol did practice a full day on Friday, and Mark is said to have been impressed with her Friday practice.

In other Bristol news, Popeater is reporting that Bristol wants nothing to do with her ex Levi Johnston, and is demanding he be barred from the audience.

“The last thing in the world Bristol wants is to look up from her cha-cha-cha and see his big goofy grin looking at her,” a family friend tells Popeater. “This is her time to shine and she doesn’t want him trying to steal her spotlight.”

Dancing With The Stars

The photos are here! ABC has released the official costume photos of the Dancing With The Stars season 11 cast.

There is however one cast member missing from the photos, as MTV reality star, The Situation, was still filming the 3rd season of the Jersey Shore when the photos were taken.

Above is this season’s Kate Gosselin Bristol Palin with partner Mark Ballas. Oddly enough, Bristol mentioned last week that she planned on wearing the most modest outfits and planned on being the most dressed contestant. Perhaps the above outfit is conservative in Alaska.

Bristol also appeared on the Tonight Show Friday, during which she denied the rumors of being a diva. “Literally, I was thinking about it today: the only thing I’ve ever asked for is a velcro mic pac so I don’t have to wear it on my belt loop,” she said. “That’s the only thing I’ve ever asked for.”

As for how she got on the show, Bristol mentioned she received a text message while working as an office manager at a dermatologist’s office in Alaska, and jumped at the opportunity. “Within the next week, we had signed the contract. Some people are like, ‘Do you really want to be in the spotlight?’ but I’m having fun with it,” said Bristol.

And when it comes to her dancing skills, the 19-year-old admits she is “so uncoordinated and I don’t have any rhythm.” Her partner Mark however reveals Bristol has been making good progress in her dancing.

The favorites to win at the moment? Brandy and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy according to Las Vegas odds.
