Another day, another injury for Dancing With The Stars as Melissa Rycroft is the latest star to suffer an injury. The 26-year-old former Bachelor star sat out of last night’s show. Her partner, Tony Dovolani, performed with professional dancer Lacey Schwimmer instead.
The doctors believe Melissa is suffering from a hairline fracture of the ribs. Melissa says, “I hurt my ribs last week doing a difficult move. It was feeling better and then I hurt myself again. I felt a blinding pain shoot down my side, so we decided it would be best to go actually have a doctor check it out.”
Melissa has been touted has one of the front runners to win it all. She was able to rehearse yesterday morning but did not feel well enough to perform for the show. She is expected to make a full recovery soon.
Melissa thanked her fans saying -
“I was doing alright but went to the doc before dress rehearsal for some last minute treatment and ended up having a bad reaction that’s affecting my breathing,” she wrote. “Hopefully (fingers crossed) I’ll be good tomorrow. But thank you for all the love, support and votes! We need it!”
Eat your heart out Jason! Melissa has clearly moved on as she shows of her new boyfriend Tye Strickland at a red carpet event this week.
The new couple walked their first red carpet together at Us Weekly’s Hot Hollywood party Wednesday. The two walked hand in hand as Melissa was being honored for her new glam style since her breakup with Jason. “I feel like I am a normal girl in L.A. now!” said Melissa who was also spotted practicing some moves with her DWTS partner Tony Dovolani in their booth throughout the night. “It’s weird. It’s awesome. It’s so surreal.”
Kudos to Melissa as Ty seems to be a definite upgrade from Jason.
The Dancing With The Stars injuries continue to pile on with Ty Murray being the latest victim. The rodeo star took a hit to the eye Wednesday but said it’s nothing he has hasn’t seen before.
This injury occurred while all the stars were practicing a group routine, Ty, 39, threw his partner Chelsie Hightower, 19, in the air, but her microphone pack fell off and struck Murray in the eye. Murray told People, “It was bleeding for a little while, and is slightly back and blue but I kept ice on it. It’s not a big deal to me because in bull riding you see that from time to time, but I guess people aren’t used to seeing a little blood in the ballroom.”
Professional dancer Derek Hough says Murray shook it off, despite the bleeding. “He’s a cowboy, so he’s used to that kind of stuff,” Hough says. “You know Ty, he’s like, ‘It’s alright. No problem. Don’t worry about me.”
Dancing With The Stars is set to lose one of it’s best dancers as Julianne Hough is revealing her plan to leave the show next season. “I wasn’t planning to come back this season because I wanted to focus on my music, but I went back and it’s been so much fun to dance with my good friend who happens to be my boyfriend.” Julianne is currently partnered up with her real life boyfriend Chuck Wicks.
Julianne was also recently named top new artist at this years Country Music Awards. The 20 year old goes on to say, “I will be taking next season off,” she confirmed, adding that she’ll be busy touring and bringing out the “real” Julianne Hough.
David Alan Grier recently talked about his Dancing With The Stars weight loss. The actor told US, “I’ve actually lost 26 pounds. The first day I came in, I was like, ‘I’m not going to lose weight – we’re waltzing!”
David’s extensive dancing routine includes 3 hours of daily aerobics with his dancing partner Kym Johnson. Kym adds, “You’re burning a lot more calories because you’re actually moving your whole body, as opposed to doing just weights.” Grier says he had also been on a strict diet of egg whites, fruits, and yogurt.
Melissa is on the cover of this week’s People Magazine and she opens up about her heartbreak, and new found celebrity.
On meeting American Idol Judge Randy Jackson – “He was like, ‘Heeeeeeey, how are you?” And, then, of course, it happened: Jackson pulled her into a big bear hug. “Just three months ago I was on the other side, I am so not a celebrity.”
On getting over her heartbreak – Melissa tells People she intended to spend months getting over her Bachelor heartbreak. “I go through stages, I will shut down and lock myself in my room. And then I’ll get to the point where I can’t be by myself and I have to be around other people all the time. Otherwise I’ll drive myself nuts crying. I cry it out. Then one day I wake up and go, I’m okay.”
More of Melissa’s interview can be seen in this week’s People magazine issue.
Dancing With The Stars ended last night with this season’s first double elimination! There was no dance off as Holly Madison, Steve-O, and Steve Wozniak found themselves in the bottom three.
Holly and Steve Wozniak ended up getting the boot. Both Steve and Holly had endured injuries since the show began. Holly states, “It was a lot physically harder than I thought it was going to be, but it was so much fun and I’m so glad l got a chance to do it,” Madison said. ” And I still love the costumes – that’s still my favorite part.”
Steve also had a positive attitude about his time on the show. He tells People, “These are like real people. Everybody smiles and is supportive and helpful.” While Steve was delightful on the show, it is nice to see him go home before he turned into DWTS’s Sanjaya.
