Basketball Wives

The reality TV viewer numbers for Sunday and Monday are in. Honestly, there isn't a whole lot to report, as most of the audiences are holding steady.

Real Housewives of New Jersey didn't seem to be affected by the terribly boring Emmy Awards, which managed nearly 18 million viewers.  Melissa's singing and the Posche 2 party brought 2.476 million viewers (compared to last week's 2.404) to Bravo.  Will Stiletto Gate give the season finale a boost?

Also on Sunday, 2.010 million Kody fans tuned in to the season finale of Sister Wives. 1.903 million stuck around for the Whiners, err, Wives Tell All special.

On Monday night, Real Housewives of Miami and Basketball Wives fell hard, each losing roughly 250,000 viewers. This week, only 812,000 tuned in to see Joanna and Adriana's wedding prep, and the hot mess that was Tasha's weave bar grand opening attracted just 1.723 million.

Teen Mom 3 remained steady with the baby daddy drama and 1.429 million viewers.  Mondays are a bitch?  Maybe for Bravo - but not for MTV.

For once (I know, I can't believe it either), I am going to reserve judgment on the following interview.  In part, I think Basketball Wives' Tami Roman's chat with the Christian Post is sincere, but I can't help but think that all of these ladies are on a massive PR campaign to spiff up their tarnished images despite the same bad (albeit calmer) behavior this season.  Plus, I don't want to get struck by lightning…

Talking to the magazine, Tami shares that the online petitions created by fans last season to have her kicked off the show caused her to fall into a deep depression.  She says, "I was traumatized. I became an introvert and literally withdrew from everybody that loved me, the people that I worked with and I didn't know how to handle what was happening."  Again, reserving judgment.

It was the power of prayer, according to Tami, that turned things around (perhaps things are still turning? No judgment, Lauren).  She admits, "It caused me to just say, 'ok God help me out of this situation' and I decided to make all the necessary changes," adding, "But I needed to have people really know me, know Tami and not just the imagery that they see on Basketball Wives."

I love a Basketball Wives episode that starts back just a smidge before the previous one ended.  VH1 wants to make sure we know how upset Evelyn Lozada is with Tasha Marbury and Suzie Ketcham for their insensitive giggling over head-butting jokes, but they don't take us back far enough to relive Tami Roman losing her cool over a hand gesture.  Shaunie O'Neal just sits back with her puppet strings.

And just like that, Evelyn's tears fall like rain (again) and she exits the restaurant with the Puppet Master running after her friend.  "Am I being dramatic?" Evelyn asks. Finally, a question we all want to answer.

Later, Evelyn is shooting the cover for Vibe Vixen, and she questions Tami as to whether she overreacted to Tasha's joke.  Tami understands why her friend is upset and suggests that Evelyn have a talk with Tasha about her hurt feelings.  She is actually proud of Evelyn as last season's variety would have thrown a drink (or a chair, or a shoe, or a wine bottle) at anyone who looked at her the wrong way.  I guess we all just pretend that Tami didn't just pop off on Evelyn during lunch for a misplaced hand. Okay, I'll play that game.

I've got two pieces of Basketball Wives news that are going to make you want to cry in your Cheerios.  First of all, Laura Govan had a birthday party, and you weren't invited.  I'll give you a few minutes to get over that burn.

Recovered yet?  Okay, good.  I know we're all supportive of Tami Roman proving that she's changed and doesn't mind talking to the hand (oh wait…) and can have an argument without getting heated or violent (ehh…), so you'll be disappointed to hear that she still thinks that Evelyn Lozada should reconcile with Chad Ochocinco Johnson.  Do we as a society really need that additional drama?  I think not.

2013 EOTM Awards

You know what they say, when life hands you lemons, make some lemonade.  It seems that Basketball Wives' Tami Roman missed this memo because when life gave her lemons in the form of mean girl co-stars not wanting to let go of her volatile present past, she decided to make nail polish instead.

On the past episodes of this season's BBW, producers have tried (in very tiny doses) to portray Tami as a calm, cool, and collected (read: sane) woman with a cosmetics business venture looming on the horizon.  Really, all we've seen is Tami pick out enamel colors with a celebrity manicurist and ponder whether she should name shades after those who are closest to her.  However, I guess now she has plenty of time on her hands to devote to her latest endeavor.

You can certainly tell a lot about a lady by the company she keeps, and if you're striving to be besties with the women of Basketball Wives, that may not fare very well for your character…at least in my opinion.  It seems that Tami Roman has found out the hard way.  I'd like to feel sorry for her, but we all know that's never going to happen!

As much as she promises that she's changed for the better, Tami recently got fighting mad (literally) at pal Evelyn Lozada for giving her the hand.  Tami has also gotten upset with co-star, current frienemy, and BBW creator, accusing Shaunie O'Neal as trying to define her by her violent, bullish past.  You know, up to this point, I'd thought that Tami was making a mountain out of a mole hill regarding Shaunie's "it could go really good or really bad" comment (Seriously, I can't believe that we're still talking about that one sentence).  Now, however, I don't put it past Shaunie to quietly instigate.  She is, after all, the cast's puppet master!

It's the Sunday and Monday ratings wrap-up time! With Keeping Up With The Kardashians still on a fall break (but filming their Christmas special), Sunday's competition was a little bit slimmer.

Penny Karagiorgis did little to save Real Housewives of New Jersey's ratings! The show was only up slightly with 2.4 million viewers, landing itself as #8 on the list of Cable 100 shows according to Futon Critic.

Kody Brown's hair had almost as many watchers! Sisters Wives drew 2.3 million viewers. Seriously people… the flowing locks. The delusion – it's irresistible! The other TLC polygamous drama My 5 Wives also attracted a fairly big draw. 1.8 million people wanted to see the man that beat Kody in the kreepy department by marrying cousins

Oh Basketball Wives…how I'm starting to miss the in-your-face antics.  If I am subjected to more of Evelyn Lozada's crying or Tami Roman's passive aggressive hair stroking, I may lose it.  Don't even get me started on Shaunie O'Neal's "new found voice."  Thank goodness for the cool Tasha Marbury and the kooky Suzie Ketcham or I might just give up on this mess altogether!  Who am I kidding?  I couldn't even if I tried…

Last night's episode had all of these attributes and more. Evelyn wants to placate her daughter's fears that her mother is reconciling with Chad.  She reveals that she did text Chad that day for his birthday.  She just wanted him to have a blessed day, but that's the extent of their chatting.  Sure. Evelyn wants to know if her daughter was worried about her during the photo debacle.  Her daughter basically calls her out and says she wasn't worried, and she reminds Evelyn that she totally put herself in that situation.  Preach. Am I so much on auto-pilot with this crew that I missed the fact that Shaunie was producing a play about Basketball Wives?  She thinks it will be a much needed positive spin for the brand.  She's looking forward to seeing some scene run-throughs while she's in New York City.

Evelyn and Tasha go shopping and discuss Tasha's peace talk with Tami. Evelyn still isn't totally convinced that her friend has changed.  She's knows Tami will always be one to cut a b!tch. For her part, Tami is meeting with a life coach in hopes of getting rid of her anger issues. She knows she won't turn into Mother Teresa overnight, but it's worth a try. Tami shares with her life coach Shaunie's "it could go really good or really bad" comment regarding Tami meeting Tasha a bazillion episodes ago.  Really, VH1?  This statement is now what constitutes an entire story line?
