On last night’s episode of Sarah Palin’s Alaska, TLC tried a cruel and unusual experiment by putting together arguably two of the most controversial women/public figures in recent times.
Kate Gosselin and her plus eight made a special appearance on Sarah Palin’s show this weekend, as she joined the Palin family for what was supposed to be a fun camping adventure.
Kate however made that impossible as she pretty much whined and complained from the minute she got there. In fact, Palin’s father put it best when he stated Kate “bitched from the moment she got off the plane.”
“Look there’s a bear on the floor, did anyone notice?” said Kate in a patronizing tone upon arriving at Sarah’s home and things only got worse from there. Below are just a few of Kate’s bitchy comments through out the show -
“I’m worried about my toes; they’re freezing.”
“I’ve been bitten [by bugs] about 200 times — it’s horrible.”
“I’m miserable, but somebody’s gotta be.”
“This is cruel and unusual punishment.”
And before the camping trip was officially over, the Kate Plus 8 mom decided she was over the entire thing. “This is ridiculous!” Kate shrieked. “I just don’t get it! There are no paper towels! I’m freezing to the bone, I have 19 layers on, my hands are frigid! … I held it together as long as I could, and I’m done now.”
Yikes. As for Sarah Palin’s response to Kate’s bad attitude, she tweeted the following – “Life=10% circumstances, 90% your reaction to circumstances. Sunday’s “Sarah Palin’s AK ‘Alaskan Hospitality’” episode illustrates that a bit.”
According to a new RadarOnline report, reality ice queen Kate Gosselin is feeling sad and lonely these days despite having a successful reality show and eight kids.
A source close to Kate, 35, tells RadarOnline that at the end of the day, Kate feels she has no one to confide in. “The truth is Kate is really sad and lonely with few true friends,” the insider said.
The source adds that Kate, who is usually photographed going to the nail spa, tanning salon or shopping alone, considers her bodyguard Steve Neild to be the closest person to her, though he is married with two kids.
“Steve lives in the basement of her home and he accompanies Kate everywhere, but they strongly deny that there is anything going on between them despite the fact that they have taken trips to Alaska and to Mexico together… Apart from Steve she does not have many true friends to confide in or just go out and have fun with while she does not have the best relationship with her family either.”
It seems Kate also has a hard time making friends with the locals in her home town due do her over domineering personality. “They don’t think greatly of her and she is not popular at the local stores, post office or car wash, because she cannot win people over and comes across as cold and aloof,” the acquaintance said.
“Kate’s life revolves around her kids and the reality show… when have you ever seen Kate photographed having fun on a girls’ night out?” adds the insider.
While Kate’s ex-husband Jon Gosselin has publicly dated numerous women since their divorce, Kate has yet to be romantically linked to anyone with the exception of the romance rumors involving her married bodyguard. The two were photographed on vacation in Mexico back in September, fueling the affair rumors even more.
TELL US – DO YOU BELIEVE KATE IS LONELY? DO YOU FEEL BAD FOR HER?
Kate Gosselin is making the press rounds today, giving new interviews to the Today Show and PEOPLE magazine. And no, she has nothing to promote. She is simply wanting to set the record straight on some issues.
Issue #1 being that two of her kids were expelled from their private school in PA due to bad behavior. Despite the report made by several media outlets, include the reputable PEOPLE magazine, Kate still denies her kids were expelled though she admits they “were having anger issues, acting out, having behavior things.”
“The school would never use that word,” Kate, 35, tells PEOPLE. “[Collin and Alexis] were not expelled. [The school] did not feel like they could meet their needs anymore, so it was decided they should leave, for now.” (Um isn’t that expulsion?)
Kate also tells PEOPLE the kids were acting out because they missed their dad Jon Gosselin. “They’ve been the ones to verbalize the most that they miss Daddy,” she says. “I could see that they’re the ones struggling the most.”
And it wouldn’t be a Kate Gosselin Today Show interview if she didn’t manage to take a shot at her ex-husband. When asked by host Meredith Vieira about a Tweet Jon sent last month, apologizing for his actions in 2009, Kate said she found his words to be insincere.
“I have never personally been apologized to,” she said showing frustration and adding that she doesn’t consider “an interview on TV or a tabloid” the appropriate venue to issue an apology.
While Kate claims to have forgiven Jon “for the sake of my kids,” she still wants us to know she is a victim. “I am angry — I’m hurt and I’m angry,” she said of Jon’s past actions, adding she does not like to dwell on the past because she doesn’t “have time to waste being upset.”
When it comes to the status of her kids today, Kate tells PEOPLE Collin and Alexis are seeing a therapist and “doing much, much better.” She adds, “I’ve kept the stability, the income – everything that they know and love – I’ve been the parent to come through on that.”
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON KATE’S INTERVIEWS?
In an all new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kate Gosselin finally opens up about the news of her two kids being expelled from private school.
In Touch magazine was the first media outlet to break the news two weeks ago, reporting that two of the Gosselin kids – Alexis and Collin Gosselin – both age 6, were kicked out of school for “rage issues” and bullying other kids.
Now the Kate Plus 8 mom is denying her kids were expelled, instead claiming she elected to pull them out of school for home tutoring. “Two of my children are being tutored at home, with a teacher who is working closely with our kindergarten teachers in school, doing the identical curriculum,” Kate stated in the interview.
So why randomly pull two out of your eight children from school? “The pressure was getting to them,” she said. “You have the divorce anger mixed in with that. … The goal is to get them back into school as soon as possible.”
Right. PEOPLE magazine, which also reported the expulsion story, is however not retracting their story. In fact, they published another article yesterday following Kate’s interview, which reiterated the fact that the kids were indeed expelled from their private school.
TELL US – WHO DO YOU BELIEVE? KATE GOSSELIN OR PEOPLE MAGAZINE?
“Kate lives like she is a movie star,” a friend tells Popeater. “She flies first class and stays at the most expensive hotels and spends money on herself like it’s going out of fashion. Remember, this is a woman who once spent $7,000 on a haircut!”
The source also adds that Kate thought she would get some endorsement deals following her stint on DWTS. “She thought she would earn millions by advertising baby carriages, food and cloths, but no one wanted her. The poor thing even thought she would get a deal with Cover Girl after being on ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ instead they went with Beyonce.”
The most shocking part of the article is that Kate is so worried about her finances that she is considering getting – gasp – “a real job!”
And in other Kate news, Life & Style magazine is reporting that TLC has canceled Kate’s other show – Twist of Kate. The reason? “It’s no longer on the schedule because Kate can’t bring in the ratings,” says a source.
Even worse, her other TLC show, Kate Plus 8, might also be in danger of cancellation due to low ratings. According to the Hollywood Life, the June 22, 2009 episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 registered 10.6 million viewers, compared to the 1.3 million viewers who tuned in for her recent Alaska episode.
TLC reportedly pays Kate a lot of money to do the show, so with the low ratings, the network might be more than willing to say adios to Kate despite her popularity.
UPDATE – A rep is confirming to UsWeekly that Twist of Fate is not canceled adding that the news is “100 percent not true.” Twist of Kate follows Kate as she visits and helps families facing obstacles.
TELL US – ARE YOU SHOCKED BY THE REPORT? DO YOU BELIEVE KATE HAS BLOWN THROUGH MILLIONS?
Days after In Touch weekly first reported the news, PEOPLE magazine is now confirming that two of Jonand Kate Gosselin’skids have been expelled from their private school in Pennsylvania.
Why you might ask? According to In Touch, the kids – Alexis and Collin Gosselin – both age 6, were kicked out for “rage issues.”
“They’ve fought with their peers, called them nasty names and made fun of other kids,” a source told the magazine. In fact, the In Touch report suggests the kids’ filming schedule might have caused the trouble at school.
“Collin had such bad issues that he refused to get his picture taken at school because he’s tired of being on-camera,” the source said. “The things they are saying are not words they should know,” the source continued. “They are learning them somewhere, but Jon doesn’t know where.”
PEOPLE magazine also confirms the kids are now being homeschooled while a source close to Kate claims the reports of violence and bullying is being exaggerated (um no it’s not if it got them expelled).
“The situation is being grossly overstated,” the source says. “The kids are going through a challenging time, but Kate doesn’t feel this is something that should be discussed publicly. It is a private matter.”
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS STORY? WHO DO YOU BLAME? SHOULD THE KIDS BE TAKEN OFF TELEVISION?
Actor Eric Roberts, who is set to appear on the upcoming season of Celebrity Rehab, recently exploded on the Kate Plus 8 mom on his twitter page, even calling her a “child abuser.”
“I know she’s fading from the news, but hopefully someone’s still got their eye on the wellbeing[sic] of her kids. Kate Gosselin is a child abuser,” Eric wrote before expanding on his opinion this weekend in an interview with the Small Town Gosselins blog. Excerpts from Eric’s interview below -
Small Town Gosselins: Your tweet about Kate Gosselin was quite passionate. What exactly precipitated it?
Eric: Simple, really. Thank goodness there is footage of Gosselin hitting her kids, and apparently feeling fine about it. I say thank goodness, because behind closed doors makes it that much tougher to stop… This trend to document life as it happens, and to have the documentation studied by strangers, is not going away any time soon. I don’t think it’s inherently bad. I think the Gosselin kids’ private lives are their problem, not the fact that their private lives are public. They have an awful mother, and a father who doesn’t stop her.
STG: TLC states that it has earned $200 million in the past five years from Gosselin-related shows. TV Guide reports that Kate Gosselin is paid $250,000 per episode. The eight children split 15% of that income, so each child gets 1.875% while the mother gets 85%. Comments?
Eric: The number of kids Kate and Jon have are the reason Kate and John have money. It would be awful if financial stress was added to those kids’ problems. But the money should be divided 10 ways.
STG: Jon Gosselin has stated emphatically that he does not want his children to be filmed anymore, that they have said they don’t want to do it, and that they are now having behavioral problems as a result of having grown up in front of the cameras. Yet Kate Gosselin refuses to stop the filming. What do you think this is all about?
Eric: I think Jon is being unrealistic. How is that family going to live? The kids could have a great time doing the show if their mom wasn’t a cruel horror who is clearly repeating generational abuse. Jon’s got his eye on the wrong ball. The kids, however, should not be forced to do anything.
STG: Do you feel differently about the Kate Gosselin than you do other reality TV parents, and if so, why?
Eric: Can’t stand Kate. Most of the other reality TV parents seem gentle and loving. I have a feeling David Charvet’s wife, Brooke, isn’t all that nice either, unfortunately.
STG: What advice would you give Kate Gosselin, and why?
Eric: My advice to Kate Gosselin would be to get out of denial and receive anger management with Dr. Richard Green in Woodland Hills, California. Next time she feels herself lifting a hand to harm one of her children, she should instead make a call to her local 12-step program. Those programs help with patterns of violence, among the more expected things they treat.
STG: What advice would you give her children?
Eric: I would want the Gosselin kids to know that their parents’ rage is not their fault, and to please do therapy to keep themselves from continuing the pattern.
STG: Advice to Jon?
Eric: Make a legally binding arrangement whereby Kate loses her financial security any time she hits those kids. She’s playing the role of good mom. When she stops playing the role as it’s written, she should be fired.
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON ERIC’S INTERVIEW AND COMMENTS?
Apparently Ariel joins a long list of nannies and helpers who have left Kate. “She has gone through about 11 nannies and tons of helpers in the past few years,” adds the insider. “Shifts can last up to 24 hours, and you have to go on trips with the family. Sleepovers are often required, and there is no set schedule with days off. You work when Kate says she needs you to work.”
And while Kate, who is currently not on TV, could reportedly save some money by being a more hands on mom, a source says that would interfere with her dreams of making it in Hollywood. “Kate is unavailable to her children,” says the insider. “She never plays with them anymore and is constantly busy with her personal affairs. That’s why she always needs a nanny!”
