Love & Hip Hop

Last night’s episode of Love & Hip Hop was a hodgepodge of car shopping, conversations with Chrissy’s aunt Cookie and cat fights. Chrissy still struggles with the status of her relationship with Jim, while Yandy introduces an interloper with some awesome hair-pulling skills.

Jim Jones is buying me a car at the Audi dealership looking for his first white car (he lost a bet) and mocking Chrissy’s reaction when she finds out about his new purchase. It is a beautiful car, fit for a hustler. Jim’s words, not mine. His friend promises to get the bleeped ready (after much rewinding I am going to definitively type he said he’d get the “puff puff” ready) so they can christen the car on the ride home. That gorgeous car won’t even be off the lot before it reeks of marijuana.

Well, after a week hiatus from Love & Hip Hop last night made up for the brief break… sort of. It was an eventful episode with Emily contemplating reconciliation with Fab, Kimbella and Yandy hoping for a non-existent apology from Chrissy, and Olivia’s manager Rich giving her some tough love.

The show begins as Emily and her friend Teairra go shopping for a statement furniture piece for Emily’s new place. There is a lot of discussion of how the scrotum should hang after examining a nude statute. Teairra wants to set up her friend on a date, but Emily is reluctant because she’s not ready to get back out there. It’s a conversation I could pay more attention to if I weren’t distracted by the giant stiletto shaped bathtub in the shop.

Without a doubt, the ladies of Love & Hip Hop definitely know how to turn up the heat where drama is concerned. Lately, it’s been a clash of the musical egos between the former First Lady of 50 Cent’s G Unit Olivia Longott and Latin music sensation and model Somaya Reece.

In a recent VH1 blog, Olivia admits, “I took a lot of heat [on a past episode] because of my attitude toward Somaya. What people need to understand: I’ve made bad decisions in my career, but what I will say is that someone saw the talent in me. Say what you wanna, that I didn’t blow up, that I’m wack, or love me, but the fact is, I was signed to Clive Davis as the first act on J Records, and also traveled the world with 50.” That’s a pretty decent resume, I’d say.

“But don’t get it twisted,” she continues. “I know I’m starting over, doing it alone, but I won’t ever say Somaya and I are on the same level, because I don’t think she has much talent. That’s not hate, I’m allowed to have my opinion.” Opinions, hate… what’s the difference on these shows?

While Olivia applauds her cast mate’s willingness to work she believes the only thing Somaya has in her favor is the show itself. She reveals, “Her work ethic is insane and of course a TV show kinda evens [the] playing field, but reality is, if Love & Hip Hop didn’t exist, this conversation wouldn’t ever come up, so I get that too. Not too mention the lies she’s told on my manager, but hey, that’s for another day…” Mee and Yow!

And if one series isn’t enough, it looks like Love & Hip Hop may be getting its own spin-off on VH1, an insider tells Sister2Sister. Because the show is doing so well, the network is hoping to double the popularity with a similar show based in Atlanta and starring rapper Diamond.

The same source reveals that fellow Atlanta rapper Rasheeda and Rici, who served as Yung Joc’s former assistant are also being approached about potentially starring in the series. While nothing is set in stone, it is rumored that how Diamond will be portrayed is a source of contention. While Diamond’s publicist wants her to appear polished on the show, producers are calling for the rapper to totally be herself while the cameras are rolling. If the producers get their way, “Diamond would definitely be the Chrissy [Lampkin]” of the spin-off, the insider promises.

Regardless whether the two sides can come to an agreement, one thing is for certain, says the source. “New York don’t have nothing on Atlanta.”

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON OLIVIA’S COMMENTS? IS SHE ON THE SAME LEVEL AS SOMAYA? DO YOU WANT AN ATLANTA SPINOFF?

Last night’s Love & Hip Hop was filled with everything it should have been: a family feud between Jim Jones’ loud lady and rapping mother, Fab’s exes getting slightly friendly and, of course, Kimbella’s hair getting up close and personal with a candle wick. Priceless!

The episode begins with Chrissy Lampkin and Jim Jones discussing her chat with Yandy Smith over the ladies’ recent blow-up. Chrissy tells Jim that she feels like she could be a better manager for Jim than Yandy is. Poor Jim. He can barely get through his interview without looking like a kid off of his ADD meds… the last thing he needs is for his lady and manager to be feuding. He offers to let Chrissy help him design some coats for his collection instead. Chrissy’s on board until they pair gets in a tiff over her cut of the check. Jim laughs, saying that Chrissy is “[messing] up his concentration.” What did I just say about ADD? Those who have it can certainly spot it!

There is quite a bit of drama surrounding the ladies of Love & Hip Hop, especially where a certain Brooklyn rapper is concerned. The kicker? He’s not even on the show, nor has he ever watched an episode!

Fabolous, whose ex-girlfriend and baby mama is the quiet Emily Bustamante on VH1′s hit show (along side the woman he hooked up with while Emily was pregnant with his son — classy!) recently discussed his opinion of the show. Here’s a hint… he’s not a fan, calling it “just not my cup of tea.” He explains his reservations in a recent radio interview with New York City deejay Angie Martinez.

Fab begins, “It’s just one-side of what’s going on. I don’t bash it but I’m not really in support of it either. I don’t think it depicts me the way I am; it just depicts a one-sided version of what’s really going on.” He continues, “I wouldn’t want to exploit anyone in my family. My son; my son’s mother. I wouldn’t even want to do a show with any of that unless we all agreed together to do it.”

Fabolous also believes Emily should have more of an opportunity to call the shots. He explains, “There’s no ownership on her side. She’s kind of like a piece of somebody else’s show and I’m not with that. I put too many years in business of me working in this industry for me to be a piece of somebody else’s thing.”

Fab elaborates on this notion by addressing the Kimbellaphant in the room… the fact that his longtime former love was informed by his fling of his fling… all the while the cameras rolled. Speaking of the producers he says,“I wouldn’t say they don’t care about Emily, but they’re there to make entertaining television and if they can dig up a girl from four years ago who could make an interesting twist in an episode of their show, guess what? They will do it.”

He continues, “Where did she come from?… I’m not [the bad guy]. From their depiction of what I am, I can see why people would think that but I’m also not going to bash the show and get into a verbal back and forth with my son’s mother over some people who really don’t know me and they don’t change anything in my life.”

While he’d never be on Love & Hip-Hop or any reality dating-type show, Fab does admit he wouldn’t rule out a reality television career altogether, stating, “I would be involved in a show that was something like Run’s House. . . that’s a different kind of show. Even the Kardashians’ show to me is more family branded and structured.” Seriously, Fab? I feel you on Run’s House, but did you really need to give props to the Kardashians?

Fab also reveals to Angie that Emily and him are “regrouping” and attempting to get to know one another again.

So what does Emily have to say about the entire situation? As usual, she takes the high road (with a few subtle digs), especially when discussing Kimbella Vanderhee. In a recent interview, she talks about her situation with Fabolous and why she doesn’t have a problem with her ex’s former mistress.

Of her breaking point with Fab, Emily asserts,” There wasn’t really a breaking point, it wasn’t like I left and there was an argument. No, over time we had a lot of talks; if I want a change in my life and I want him to change and I want this to work, guess what? I’ve got to change me first. Evidently, there was something I was doing wrong and I had to change it. I changed my living situation and my circumstances. I’m glad that I’ve made a decision. My life has changed for the better and even with me and him everything has changed, we’re good. He’s in a better place because I did the show and he learned a lot from it. I will say that it has more pluses than negatives.”

She is equally diplomatic when discussing Kimbella, also known as the woman who revealed to Emily in front of a group (and the entire viewing population, I might add) that she’d had sex with Fab while Emily was pregnant with his child. Again, classy. She says, “I don’t even want to go into that. I will say this, I have no hard feelings against Kimbella. We don’t have no beef. At this point, this far along, she’s doing her thing and I understand. It is what it is. It wasn’t the time or the place. She had to go into those meetings and say that to those producers in order for them to get the information. She knew what she was doing.”

“Personally, I would have taken that to the grave,” she continues. “I never would have thought that she would want to say that on national T.V., especially when your man works with [Fab] and that is his colleague. But, everybody’s different. That was her decision and I guess she felt like she had to get it off of her chest or whatever, but it didn’t play off well in the situation.”

It sounds like Emily doesn’t want to waste any of her energy reliving the drama, so kudos to her. It’s a rarity in reality television, that’s for sure! A new episode of Love & Hip Hop airs tonight on VH1.

THOUGHTS ON FAB’S INTERVIEW? WOULD YOU WATCH A SHOW CENTERED AROUND HIM? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF EMILY NOT HAVING AN ISSUE WITH KIMBELLA–DO YOU THINK SHE’S BEING HONEST?

VH1 Yandy Smith

Following the drama on Love & Hip Hop season 2, Yandy Smith is speaking out!

On last night’s episode, Yandy, who manages rapper Jim Jones, got into it with his long-term girlfriend Chrissy Lampkin who felt Jim was nothing more than a check to Yandy.

In an interview with MTV, Yandy admits managing Jim tends to put her in a number of sticky situations. “When you guys see Jim walk outside, he’s calling me and he’s going crazy on me,” explains Yandy of the scene in the first episode where Jim first sees his mom’s song “Psychotic” — a diss track to Chrissy on WorldStarHipHop. “Not only are you a manager, but you’re an advisor, you’re a friend, you’re a counselor, you’re a therapist, so in that moment it was ‘let me keep Jim out of jail before hurting somebody over at WorldStar.”

Yandy adds that the drama is also difficult for Jim. “I think Jim gets to a point where [he thinks] — it’s my mom and it’s my wife — he loves them both dearly and of course he doesn’t want to see them fight, but it’s a hard place to be,” states Yandy. “They’re both A-type personalities, so just trying to back them both down or have someone apologize, it’s just not gonna happen. So he does things ways man thing to do and that’s just wash his hands of it.”

It, however, appears all is well between Yandy and Jim as she tweeted last night: “Man you know how much I love Jim and he was being mean! Lol.”

As the season moves along, you have to wonder if Chrissy is getting a big ego based on her season 1 popularity as she seems to have a problem with almost everyone this season. And speaking of last night’s episode, I was a little surprised with Emily’s bold toast to Kimbella in which she stated “A toast to you, Kimbella, for making the cover, you are the most qualified. You’ve had the most black men in you, including mine.” Can you say Ouch!

While witty, I can’t help but wonder why Emily is not as upset with her baby daddy Fabolous, a.k.a. the man who cheated on her, as she is with Kimbella. In fact, Emily was photographed attending a Fabolous event just two weeks ago as well as posing for a picture with both Fabolous and actress/singer Adrienne Bailon (long rumored to have been Fabolous’ chick on the side while he was dating Emily). Hmmm. Things that make you wonder…

Those photos are below.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON LAST NIGHT’S EPISODE? WAS CHRISSY JUSTIFIED IN HER ARGUMENT WITH YANDY? OR DID SHE OVERREACT? WAS EMILY JUSTIFIED IN HER TOAST TO KIMBELLA?

The season 2 premiere of VH1′s Love & Hip Hop did not disappoint as it even included an all out brawl!

Newbie Kimbella Vanderhee, girlfriend of rapper Juelz Santana, found herself on the receiving end of an attack by Chrissy Lampkin over a revelation she made to Emily Bustamante.

The explosive fight took place during a party Emily hosted to celebrate finally getting a backbone the end of her nine-year relationship with rapper Fabolous. Kimbella, not wanting to go the route of Evelyn Lozada on Basketball Wives, decided to inform Emily — in front of everyone — that she dated Fabolous while Emily B was pregnant with his son. Kimbella has stated she had no idea Fabolous had a girlfriend.

Emily, while appearing hurt, took the news rather calmly but for some reason, Chrissy decided to physically attack Kimbella claiming she had no right to inform Emily of the news the way she did. Chrissy, reportedly age 41, punched Kimbella and even savagely stomped on her while she was down.

Fast forward today and Chrissy is now revealing she regrets her actions… sort of, saying she is sorry for allowing Kimbella to take her to that place. Apparently, Kimbella is the one to blame for her over the top anger.

“I don’t regret my feelings, but I regret the way I allowed myself to be pulled out of character. [Vanderhee]‘s another grown woman, and it’s crazy to put your hands on somebody like that,” said Chrissy to MTV News. “It’s just that I was so hurt and so caught in the moment — it was just reactional. I just reacted to the pain. I know it’s gonna sound crazy, but it wasn’t really personal.”

Chrissy goes on to admit she didn’t really give Kimbella a fair chance. “I really didn’t get a chance to know her [Kimbella], so I don’t know what her intent was, but I just felt like it was hurtful,” said Chrissy of coming to Emily’s defense. “I can only deal with what was in front of me and it just came across really hurtful.”

Chrissy’s boyfriend Jim Jones (who is on the same label as Kimbella’s boyfriend Juelz Santana) admits the fight put him in an awkward position. “It’s awkward,” Jim admitted. “If it was a fight with anyone else, it wouldn’t matter to me, but due to the fact that Juelz is my brother, it’s a little bit different.”

As for Kimbella, she insists she meant well in her actions. “I didn’t come at [Emily B] maliciously. I had good intentions and I wasn’t there to hurt anyone or take anything from anyone,” said Kimbella to MTV. “I could’ve taken her aside to tell her that privately, but I felt like in the moment, Emily was so proud that she was leaving [Fab], and I was just in that moment with her.”

My take is Chrissy’s actions were completely uncalled for… especially if she is 41-years-old. She is simply too grown to be attacking another woman… especially over an issue that doesn’t even concern her to begin with. I believe she had it out for Kimbella from the start. As for Kimbella, I don’t know if she really meant well with Emily (perhaps telling her in private would have been better), but she did not deserve to be attacked and stomped on.

As for Kimbella and Fabolous, he recently stated he did not date her and barely knows who she is. Uh uh.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON CHRISSY’S ACTIONS? WAS IT NECESSARY OR UNCALLED FOR? DO YOU THINK KIMBELLA MEANT WELL WITH EMILY?

In other news, did Chrissy finally get a proposal from long-term boyfriend/rapper Jim Jones? According to a report that is the case! If you recall, Chrissy proposed to Jim last season yet nothing ultimately came from that.

According to a report by Bossip, Jim finally popped the question to Chrissy last month in Miami. Sources tell the blog: “Jimmy had a super romantic outdoor proposal planned, the rainy weather forced him to take it indoors.” The proposal reportedly took place in the ballroom at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Miami with most of Chrissy’s castmates present. No word yet on whether or not VH1′s cameras were on hand to capture this moment.

The new season of Love & Hip Hop premieres Monday, November 14 on VH1.
