So, the artist formerly known as Bow Wow is making an honest woman out of Erica Mena. Who would have guessed? I had no idea that 1) that Bow Wow was trying to drop his famous moniker in favor of his real name (good luck with that, Shad); or 2) that he was dating Love & Hip Hop’s original hot mess. #loosecannonbymona
Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. Shad’s announcement that the pair is now betrothed set the Internet abuzz with people confused about the undercover couple and just who Shad Moss is (I kid, I kid). Is VH1 thinking of venturing into the realm of wedding specials?
The star, who is no stranger to a tumultuous love life and has been rumored to be linked to Bow Wow recently, reveals that this season viewers will see her focus on both love and business! Erica reveals that she is “transitioning from old ways to new ways.”
“I’m coming into my own,” Erica explains. “I think people will be able to accept it more because they’ve seen my growth from the beginning to now, and they’ve kinda got the point that I don’t hesitate on who I love, whether it’s a woman or a man. I love them, I’m in love with them, and that’s just what it is.”
VH1 promises: “A new group of R&B and hip hop hopefuls have their eyes on the prize and are ready to deliver the shock, drama, and scandal as only the #1 social show of the summer can do. With the music industry constantly evolving, these artists’ unwavering ambition keeps them hustling to stay at the top and willing to lay it all on the line.”
Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood premieres September 15 on VH1. Rumor has is that the cast and their storylines leave a lot to be desired – Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Atlanta anymore – we shall see! Check out the full cast and sneak peek below.
Y’all know I’m not going to know what to do with myself on Monday nights when this season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta comes to an end. Sure, VH1 will have something just as dramatic, and catty, and horrific to slide right into its time slot, as if we won’t be mourning the loss of the Puerto Rican Princess and Benzino’s neck. I’m not buying what you’re selling, VH1.
Mona Scott Young tries to sell us on other franchises of the show, but nothing and no one can measure up to the scripted insanity that is Atlanta. New York City? Please! I’m yawning just thinking about it! And what about Love & Hip Hop: L.A.? Is that even still happening?
The Peter Gunz repopulation project continues! Peter and wife Amina Buddafly gave birth to their first daughter together last week on Tuesday, July 29th.
Amina announced the good news by thanking fans for the support, “Thank you guys for all the well wishes and nice comments and messages!!! haven’t gotten thru all yet but I’m so happy we’ve made a beautiful gorgeous precious angel who I can’t take my eyes off of…just enjoying some private time for now but you know we will share more soon.”
Please accept my sincerest apology. I dropped the ball in a major way! How did I not know that my favorite new scripted show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta was on twice this week? Since the recap is already a day late, let's just dive right in to the insanity, shall we?
Joseline Hernandez goes to Stevie J.'s man cave to continue to nag him about Mimi Faust's friends being all up in their business. Does she just wander around in lingerie all the time? Seriously, the sets, the lighting, the costumes, the horrible acting–this is NOT reality television! Stevie ignores his bride while surfing the Internet, and lo and behold! He's just happens across the blog story that shares Mimi's "leaked" sex tape with Nikko. Talk about coincidence!
Next, I was literally about to give up on all things Mona Scott Young when I saw just how bad Karlie Redd's acting is until I learned that she is supposed to be acting because she's in a "movie" now called 30 Days in Atlanta. Someone call Sundance! Karlie is so thrilled to be in a relationship with Yung Joc. Not only is he younger and more successful than Benzino, he has a neck! Yung also doesn't like drama. She tap dances between making out with him and accusing him of cheating since he's wearing the same clothes she saw him in yesterday. Karlie thinks the best way to keep tabs on him is to for them to move in together. That is a GREAT idea!
A rapper being ashamed of how he was portrayed on Love & Hip Hop? Is that even a real thing? Most of the guys on the show end up looking like total cheating, violent d-bags, but they keep coming back for more, season after season. Not so for Saigon after his first–and reportedly last–go-round on the show.
As y'all recall, Saigon's story line ran the gamut from screaming at his child's mother and accusing her not being a good parent to seeking couples counseling to be a better communicator and father. Of course, that all backfired at the reunion amid his cussing and disrespect towards Erica Jean. The pair will be appearing on an upcoming episode of Iyanla Vanzant's Fix My Life, but that's the extent of Saigon's budding reality career. He doesn't like his edit from his inaugural season, and he won't be returning. Are we to assume that he takes the slightest bit of responsibility for his behavior or that it was all Mona Scott Young's fault?
It's the battle of the VH1 reality stars! Not only are they feuding on their individual shows, two from different shows are now battling it out on Twitter. I'm sure that Mona Scott Young is laughing all the way to the bank these days!
Both Basketball Wives: LA and Love & Hip Hop have participants who recognize that drama is key to staying relevant. The more fighting and upheaval the better! BBW: LA's newbie Sundy Carter is learning quickly how things work. Not only was there a brawl at the season three reunion, but now Sundy is facing off with Erica Mena on social media. Yup, sounds about right!
