Real Housewives of Atlanta

Do reality stars ever just fade off into obscurity or is it in their DNA to keep looking for the next show? I don't think I have a thick enough skin for a reality career, and after being embarrassed by my behavior on national television, I think the last thing I'd want to do was to find another way to look like an idiot in front of millions.

However, there is a reason I'm not a reality star, and there's a reason why they are so entertaining. No matter what, they don't give up on jumping from show to show, network to network to extend their already too long fifteen minutes of fame. It's now time for Cynthia Bailey's husband Peter Thomas to find the next big deal to keep him on our small screens. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star is hoping to channel his inner Lisa Vanderpump!

Good gravy, Real Housewives of Atlanta is insane this season, isn't it! When Nene Leakes isn't snubbing Kenya Moore's odd attempts at charity events and Cynthia Bailey isn't organizing field days and playing referee between her husband and the Neenster, it seems that Kandi Burruss is dealing with Mama Joyce drama. It's a lot y'all!

In her Bravo blog this week, Cynthia begins, "Hello everyone! Welcome back to another drama filled episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta! Let’s jump right on in!"

After wishing Peter the most happiest of birthdays, Cynthia dives right in to discuss the beef between her husband and her best friend.  She writes, "I was a little upset with Peter the next morning (after Kenya's event) for confronting NeNe (although she actually confronted him), because I did not think it was the right time to talk. The night had already taken a turn for the worst, and I didn't see the point in trying to fix something that was already broken. Had NeNe not gotten out of her car, walked over to Peter, and initiated the conversation with Peter, there would not have been a reason for him to be in her face acting like a bitch, right? It was pretty clear that his conversation was directed to me. So I don't know who the monster was that was waiting at the top of the hill, because the only thing that Peter was waiting for was his car to leave."

The reality TV viewer numbers are in.

Good Numbers:  Real Housewives of Atlanta continues to interest a large audience. 4.041 million tuned in for the Bailey Bowl drama this week. The season finale of Sister Wives attracted 2.235 million and 1.916 million stuck around for the tell all special, bringing the season average to 2.025 million.

Steady: The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills trip to Puerto Rico attracted 1.8 million and Basketball Wives L.A. logged 1.882 million viewers this week. Dance Moms and Teen Mom 2 consistently log strong and steady numbers despite giving us two of the most hated reality TV stars in recent history – 2.069 million sat through Abby's abusive ways and 2.222 million couldn't resist Jenelle's shameful behavior.

Bad Numbers: 2.072 million fans watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians this week. That's a 500,000 drop from last week's over-hyped proposal show. Part two the Shahs of Sunset reunion garnered 1.044 million viewers. Do you think Shahs of Sunset will return with a season average of 1.272 million?

The NeNe Leakes vs. Marlo Hampton fallout was always meant to happen. Two ego-driven monsters desperate for fame? Of course they're gonna butt weaves – or possibly toupees depending on who you ask!

After NeNe blasted "Manlo and Krayonce" (thanks for the credit for using my HW moniker, BTW Ms. Leakes), Marlo took to her personal blog to give her side of the story from last week's episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta

"Chinese Proverb: Beware of people throwing shade while wearing bad toupees!" Marlo begins. "I’m doing my best to be the one to take the high road, but these last few weeks have been filled with lots of shade and haterade from people promoting products from Donald Trump’s hair emporium!" Taking the high road apparently means taking to twitter and throwing grenades at NeNe left and right.

Taking the high road also includes pointing out all the ways NeNe is an inferior, insecure, copycat version of Marlo. "I’ve never claimed to be perfect, flawless or without regrets. Who is? Definitely not the fake bleached blond with the bold ambitions!" Marlo continues. "She talks about my past incarcerations, her past includes pole sliding, lap dancing, lights, cameras and action! Which one of us is worse? Both of us have come a long way since then haven’t we? Good thing we took advantage of 'opportunities.'”

kenya moore

Kenya Moore doesn't mince words when addressing this week's episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Actually, Kenya doesn't mince words ANY week when summing up the latest episode.  Kenya blasts co-star NeNe Leakes for being a hypocrite and slams her for her holier-than-thou attitude.

Kenya starts off by scolding NeNe for using the word "bully" too casually.  "According to NeNe I bullied her to come to the ball! Aside from seasons prior to my debut on the show, I have personally witnessed NeNe’s acts of terrorism. I have never threatened anyone by being made to choose to be on my side or else suffer the consequences; I don’t use my status on the show or intimidation tactics to try to sabotage other Housewives’ success on the show; and I certainly don’t “unfriend” people who don’t agree with me. I don’t subscribe to this type of egregious self-serving behavior. There are children suffering, even dying from being bullied. Let’s not further exploit the word in order to gain sympathy, it only diminishes those who are truly victims."

NeNe and Gregg Leakes shopping in Soho

Well, someone certainly doesn't care about being friends with any of her Real Housewives of Atlanta co-stars. It's the NeNe Leakes Show, and that's all there is to it! After the craziness of Sunday night's episode, the Neenster has choice words for new biffles Marlo Hampton (she's not even a real cast member, NeNe reminds us) and the crazy that is Kenya Moore. Poor Cynthia wanted some fun at the Bailey Bowl, but with this group, that is quite the pipe dream!

It comes as no surprise that you won't need any sunglasses given the amount of shade NeNe throws in her Bravo blog this week!  Aptly titled Manlow and Krayonce, she begins, "Here we go again! If you read my blogs, then you know I hate long, drawn out stuff. I don't have time to touch on the BS, so let's jump right in! The Bailey Bowl: I love a good challenge, so when I was told to gather up a team and meet on a field for some fun and competition, I was there! We started off by having some good competitive fun. Then here comes the BS!"

Aaaahhh… NeNe Leakes - you know what they say: the higher the heel, the farther the fall.

Last night on Real Housewives of Atlanta, NeNe and her former BRIDEmaid Marlo Hampton got into a huge argument over nonsense.

Overnight it seems Kenya Moore and Marlo have become tighter than Marlo's wardrobe. Although I don't think anyone would describe them as friends – more like thick as thieves because they are up to some plotting!

Reeling in the aftermath of Kenya's charity event in which NeNe was honored but not honored (nor honorable) NeNe admits to Gregg (aka Tagalong) that she turned into NayNay, her super-ghetto alter-ego who likes to go all PLONK! and circumstance. As he listens to his wife's tale of woe, Gregg is sipping coffee from a toilet-shaped mug. I can't help but wonder… Is Gregg's toilet mug an indication of the status of his life? He's flushed his integrity and self-respect down the toilet for fame.

Former (or is it current?) entertainment lawyer Phaedra Parks appears on the March cover of Upscale Magazine alongside two other ladies of reality TV: Tameka Raymond (Atlanta Exes) and LaTavia Robertson (R&B Divas Atlanta).

In a quote about her experiences appearing on Real Housewives of Atlanta, Phaedra explains that though the show may have ahem… scripted moments, the stars certainly aren't treated like actors!

“We’re not members of SAG so it’s not like we’re getting benefits from replays," Phaedra says of one of the glaring pitfalls of being on reality TV. "We’re talents that aren’t being considered as actors, so they're getting talent for a nominal fee. They’ve found a way to make money and cut the cost on studios and productions so they’re making the largest profit with the least amount of residual.”
