The tipping point came this weekend after an incident over her makeup. Sources tell TMZ that Nene threw a temper tantrum because she hated the way her makeup was done for the show’s opening interviews. She then had the makeup artists start her makeup over again, except she still wasn’t satisfied.
Following two makeovers, Nene decided to take matters into her own hands, doing her makeup by herself.
In other news, the always outspoken NYC Housewife Bethenny Frankel is back at it yet again. Bethenny, who is mostly admired by her fans for her brutal honesty, took a jab at the Atlanta Housewives during her recent appearance on the Rachel Ray Show.
While attempting to make fun of her spotlight-loving dog Cookie, Bethenny said the following: “I think she has an agent. She literally hams it up for the cameras,” Bethenny said of her dog. “She’s like … one of the housewives of Atlanta. Every time the cameras are on she’s, like, doing something.”
Some are now saying Bethenny was comparing the Atlanta ladies to dogs, but knowing Bethenny, she more than likely didn’t mean it in that manner.
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON NENE’S BEHAVIOR AND BETHENNY’S COMMENTS?
Time to recap the 3rd episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta titled ‘White Hot.’
This episode brought us fame monsters, threats to unborn babies and the magical appearance of Sheree’s eldest daughter. The episode starts out with Kim Gaga verbally abusing her assistant Sweetie, while also packing for her big live concert in front of the biggest gay dance party in the universe. Evidently, lip syncing to an auto-tuned backtrack takes a lot of preparation.
Nene takes her youngest son Brent out for a walk in the park. The two share a tender mother and son moment during which Nene brings up the topic of Bryson’s arrest. Nene states in her interview that she did not want to go into the arrest details with Brent due to his young age, but something tells me at age 11, Brent is well aware of all that is going on around him.

On the third episode of the season, titled ‘White Hot,’ Kim receives the opportunity of a lifetime when she is invited to perform at one of the biggest gay circuit parties – the White Party. But only having “Tardy for the Party” under her repertoire, is Kim ready for her first concert appearance?
Meanwhile NeNe continues to struggle with her son Brice’s brush with the law, and new housewife Phaedra continues to defend her husband Apollo and his shady, criminal past amidst rumors around town. But when it seems that Phaedra and Apollo don’t exactly see eye to eye when it comes to parenting, how will this affect their relationship? Find out tonight!
In other Atlanta news, RadarOnline is reporting that Nene Leakes’ marriage to hubby Gregg Leakes continues to be strained. The latest is that Nene is very furious at Gregg all over the money he reportedly borrowed from Dwight Eubanks.
Despite Gregg’s denials on the show that he only borrowed $500 from Dwight, a source tells Radar that Gregg did indeed borrow $10,000. “Gregg lied to NeNe because he did get a $10,000 loan from Dwight and now she is really pi**ed at him.”
The source adds, “Money is a sensitive issue between them and NeNe cannot believe that Gregg would lie to her. She feels it has put her in an awkward position with Dwight because they are really good friends who confide in one another both on and off camera.”
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON TONIGHT’S EPISODE?
The Real Housewives of Atlanta discusses her relationship with castmates Kim Zolciak and Nene Leakes, dating NFL player Willis McGahee (who is rumored to have 7 kids by multiple women), and why she almost didn’t return to the show this season.
“To be honest with you, I didn’t know if I was coming back,” she says. “I was like, ‘Eh, I don’t know.’” Kandi, who has an album coming out on Dec. 14, ultimately decided to return for business reasons. “It’s both good and bad being on this show. I’m glad to be part of a successful series, of course, but there are other things that [the cast] can’t talk about on our end that we feel should be better,” says Kandi, likely referring to not earning enough money from the show.
Excerpts from Kandi’s interview below -
TVGuide.com: I have to know. Did you work on Kim’s new song, “Google Me“?
Burruss: No, actually a friend of mine did.
TVGuide.com: Ah, good. Because “Tardy for the Party” was better.
Burruss: Yeah [laughs]. I did do a new song for Kim called “The Ring Didn’t Mean A Thing.” You’ll see it this season. Kim and I also went on a promo tour, which was a little crazy. She performs live. It was small, just three cities, and I kind of took her like an opening act. We did a tour bus and everything. It was … interesting.
TVGuide.com: And how is your relationship with NeNe these days?
Burruss: We’re cool. We don’t have any beef this year. What happened last year was really … I don’t even know how it happened. It didn’t even make sense. It was a moment that went too far. At a certain point when we were promoting the season, it did start to get out of control. We started having arguments over the radio over stupid stuff, and the network had to reach out and say, “You guys need to calm down.” After that, we both kind of checked ourselves. Now we have no issues.
TVGuide.com: You begin dating National Football League running back Willis McGahee this season. What was that like with the cameras following you?
Burruss: Honestly, I would never do that again. He’s a cool guy, but I think when you put it out there in public too soon, before you even have a chance to really get to know each other, I think it gives too many people the opportunity to make an opinion. And they do it before you get to make your own opinion!… Right now, we’re friends. That’s all I can say.
TVGuide.com: Tell me about your upcoming album Kandi Koated.
Burruss: The album takes you on a trip through a relationship. It’s all about finding love, having love, losing love … There are a couple of let’s-get-back-together songs. But it takes you through all those different emotions. It’s an R&B album, and there some very big ballads on there. I had songs from Ne-Yo, Justice League, Brian Michael Cox and Jazzy Pha, who produced the single “Leave U.”
A new episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Monday at 10/9c on Bravo.
Episode 2 starts out with Kim Zolciak and her assistant Sweetie going for a beer run or walk or something. One hit wonder Pop star Kimmy feels she needs to look great, you know, considering she is a big pop star and all now. The two end their run by re-hydrating with a beer.
We see a very pregnant Phaedra at her workplace. The attorney is meeting up with a non-celebrity client of hers who was arrested for marijuana possession, and no, it is not Nene’s son Bryson, just in case you were wondering. “Unfortunately, 1 in 3 black men will be indicted for a felony and do some prison time. Instead of us punishing people who have obviously served their time, we really need to embrace them so that they don’t have to go back into crime,” states Phaedra, who is obviously doing her part by marrying an ex-con shortly after his release.

On tonight’s episode, titled ‘Model Behavior,’ the other housewives discover that Phaedra‘s husband Apolloserved over 5 years in prison. They quickly began to speculate and wonder how a lawyer ended up with an ex-con.
On Nene’s home front, things get even rockier as her son Bryson asks to come back following one of his arrests for drug possession. Meanwhile, following her fight with Dwight, Nene runs into him at a public event and attempts to talk to him using a much calmer approach. Will Dwight give Nene the time of the day? Will they be able to resolve their issues? Find out tonight at 9/8c on Bravo.
Also on tonight’s episode, the other new housewife, Cynthia Bailey, will make her debut. In an interview with the HollywoodLife, Cynthia sings the praises of Nene Leakes but questions Kim Zolciak’s authenticity.
“I didn’t see it coming because she is so bigger than life, but NeNe was the most real person on the show,” she says. “I felt like she was consistent and proved herself to be a friend.” And when it comes to Kim bisexuality, Cynthia has some doubts. “She puts it out there and then doesn’t want to talk about it,” she says. “I will say for the most part I think Kim will do whatever she needs to do to stay relevant.”
A preview clip from tonight’s episode is below -
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON TONIGHT’S EPISODE OF THE ATLANTA HOUSEWIVES?
In an interview with TV Guide, the outspoken housewife discusses her family drama, why she no longer talks to axed castmate Lisa Wu Hartwell, and why she believes new housewife Phaedra Parks is jealous of her.
Excerpts are below -
TVGuide.com: Even though you haven’t seen it yet, I can also tell you that the first episode shows you and Dwight coming to blows. What happened there? What did we miss in the off-season?
Leakes: What everyone doesn’t know is that we don’t talk on a regular basis. We were never the kind of friends that call each other every day … He and I were never that way. I know it may have appeared differently on the show. I did really like him and respect him, but one of the reasons that we hadn’t talked for a really long time is I felt that he had been doing things that weren’t worthy of a friendship.
TVGuide.com: You mean the deal between Dwight and Greg. (In the premiere, Kim tells NeNe that Dwight had been saying NeNe’s husband Greg had asked him for a $10,000 loan; Greg denies it.) Does the truth of that situation come out? Leakes: I think so. I’m pretty sure. I know we address the issue. I am very clear today about what happened, but at the time, I was not. You guys will see.
TVGuide.com: This season you deal with your son being arrested and your marital problems with Greg. Was it more difficult to keep filming than it has been in previous seasons?
Leakes: Yes.I go through a lot this season, emotionally, in my personal life and with my children. I think you’re going to see me go through a lot with my family. I will say that one thing I am is a very good mom. I’m not like a lot of moms today. I was raised strict and I’m pretty strict with my boys. Also, you guys have never seen Greg and I really disagree; you’ll see a lot of that this season. It was tough though. Really emotional scenes are draining. If you are crying and having an emotional moment in front of the camera, those are the times I want to run out of the damn house and cry by myself. It’s just hard when you know people are looking.
TVGuide.com: How are you and Greg now? Leakes: Greg and I, you know, we’re still husband and wife. We’re still married. No matter what happens, we will hopefully be friends.
TVGuide.com: There are two new housewives this season, Phaedra Parks and Cynthia Bailey. Cynthia’s not in the premiere, but Phaedra is. So far we know she’s a hotshot lawyer — and she’s got some strong opinions about you already.
Leakes: I knew Phaedra before. I didn’t know her personally, but we are from the same home town. We went to the same high school. I’m a little bit older. When we were in school — and I can say this because she told me this herself — she would say to me, “I’ve always looked up to you. I’ve always admired you.” I was very popular in high school. Once she was on this show though? She never really talked to me or spoke to me. It was strange. She had nothing at all to say to me. I felt like there was some type of jealousy there. … I will tell you I had heard that Phaedra always thought she was always glamorous or fabulous, I guess. I never saw that. I heard that a lot when we were filming, that she thought she was a diva and a “real Southern belle.” I was like, “Well, we’re from Athens, Ga.,” so I don’t think she’s a Southern belle.” She’s country.
TVGuide.com: Do you keep in touch with Lisa now that she’s off the show?
Leakes: No, I don’t talk to Lisa at all. I didn’t get to know her until the second season. We were really cool, even though … Look, I’m a very good judge of character. I should win a damn award for being a good judge of character. I get you right away. I get it. And so, as Lisa and I hung out more, I got her. That’s all I can really say. I got her. I got who she was. I was OK with who she was, but we could not be good friends. We could be friendly, and work together and even have a drink together. But as far as me crying on her shoulder or telling her secrets, I wouldn’t.
A new episode of the Atlanta Housewives airs next Monday on Bravo at 9/8c.
So typically, the plan is to wait a few weeks into a Housewives season before doing weekly recaps, but within 10 minutes of watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta season 3 premiere last night, I knew a recap was coming today.
The season premiere definitely did not disappoint. It brought the drama as well as some highlarious great one-liners. “I’ve been chasing dick since I came out of the womb” anyone? Priceless.
My only pet peeve with the Atlanta ladies is that last night’s episode just seemed o what’s that word I’m looking for — phony! From watching the show, it is rather obvious that the ladies are very aware of the cameras and are definitely playing things up while getting into their characters. Example – Sheree’s comment about winning an Oscar one day. It just seemed like she was playing into the whole narcissism aspect of her character. I wasn’t buying it nor do I believe she really feels that way, nor do I think she has a new found passion for acting. I believe the ladies are turning things up a notch this season as not to get the Lisa Wu Hartwell treatment.
