This week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County is pretty drama-free, relatively speaking. Peggy and Alexis continue to rehash and compete (with a photoshoot face-off being one of the night’s highlights), Tamra and Fernanda make nice, Vicki continues to struggle with her marriage issues, Gretchen heads to the Lone Star State to sell her wares, and Slade’s mom tells it like it is.
Tamra meets Lynne for lunch and Lynne asks if Tamra and Fernanda are an item. Tamra acts shocked but spills more of the details on the infamous kiss. She reveals that Eddie is convinced that Fernanda is in love with her. I am not so sure Eddie feels this way or if it’s more Tamra wanting him to feel that way, but regardless, we learn that the kiss did involve tongue, but thankfully, no “nipple tweaking.” Tamra always has a way with words.
Peggy goes to Alexis’ home to confront ask her why Jim wasn’t at the dinner party. In her interview prior to speaking with Alexis, Peggy says that as long as she’s known Jim “he’s never had a real job” so she’s not buying that “work” kept him from attending. Alexis is (finally) honest, admitting that Jim doesn’t want to hang out with the catty ladies any longer, and Peggy is hurt that Alexis didn’t feel as if she could tell her the truth earlier. Peggy presses to see if Jim has beef with she and Micah, and Alexis rambles on and on about how she’s too busy to have a social life, what with her perfect kids, and working out, and that whole fashion designer thing. Peggy brings up a time when Jim was very condescending to Micah about Micah’s lamborghini knowledge (seriously, who ARE these people??) and Alexis reminds Peggy that Jim has had four lamborghinis in the past. Ahhhh, now I get why this episode is called “It’s Not a Competition.”

As we reported months ago, Peggy and Micah’s home was in foreclosure after they defaulted on their home loan. Well fast forward to today, and Peggy is now suing three different banks, BAC Home Loans Servicing, U.S. Bank National and PNC Mortgage, in an effort to save her home. Peggy is claiming the banks didn’t honor a loan modification agreement.
According to RadarOnline, Peggy and Micah owe $1.3 million on the home with multiple mortgages. After purchasing the home in 2006, Peggy, 41, and Micah made payments on time for 2 years. They however began to experience financial difficulties and the payments on two loans became irregular. They have one mortgage for $1 million, and a second for $312,540 according to records. The couple also quit paying their Orange County property taxes but have since negotiated a payment for that.
In the court documents, Peggy claims she made a deal to pay interests only for 10 years but was shocked in November when the banks still filed a foreclosure notice. “(Peggy) is determined to keep the property,” the lawsuit states. “It is her family’s home, and she does not want to lose the Property in a foreclosure sale.”
Radar adds the home was last assessed at $875,000 in 2009, way down from the $1,379,000 they paid for it back in 2006.
As mentioned above, Peggy and hubby Micah have been shown on the show spending money on jewelry, plastic surgery, and parties, aka non-necessities, at the same time their home loan was being defaulted on. In fact, Peggy brags in the opening credits of the show about owning a Bentley. Peggy’s home was scheduled to go up for auction on March 17 but that was ultimately canceled. But hey, who needs a home to sleep in when you own a shiny Bentley!
Court records show Peggy’s home had a default notice dated Nov. 16, 2010, with the amount in default at $190,713.
Moving on to tonight’s all new episode of the OC housewives titled “It’s Not a Competition.” On the 10th episode of this season (yes, we’re already on episode 10!), Peggy and Alexis discuss their ever-fraying relationship, but their conversation only creates more tension. Meanwhile, Slade’s mother arrives and corners him about his job status; and Vicki and Peggy gather for some wine and whine.
The episode airs at 10/9c and a preview clip is below.
Sunday night’s Real Housewives of the O.C. focused on Peggy and Micah’s dinner party and w(h)ine pairings. Tamra and Vicki added a new “mean girl” to their clique in the form of Donn, Gretchen dodged digs aimed at an absent Slade, Alexis spent the evening crying (and lying!), while Peggy sat back and wondered why her dinner party was so full of drama. (Peggy, here’s a hint– check out your guest list).
The episode begins with delicious looking food preparation. Oh look! It’s Mary Sue Milliken of this season’s Top Chef Masters! Subtle, Bravo. Peggy Tanous and her husband Micah are diligently watching over the people who are actually setting up and decorating for their dinner party. The two spend a lot of time name-dropping high end clothing, watches, and cars while getting ready together.
Slade Smiley’s child support woes have just become headlines in the O.C. (I had to remind myself that it was filmed several months ago), and Gretchen has given up her usual grating laugh for near tears as she explains the “real story” to her hairdresser. Not surprisingly we discover that Slade won’t be attending the dinner because he’ll be at home painting naked spending time with his children.

On the 9th episode this season titled “Whine Pairings,” Peggy and Micah throwing their annual dinner party and hire celebrity chef Susan Feniger to cater the event. Tamra’s new boyfriend, Eddie, meets the ladies for the first time. During the party, Alexis causes a scene and flees the table, leaving Peggy livid and Donn is shocked by Vicki’s comment to the group about wishing they had started their own family together.
The episode airs at 10/9c on Bravo and a preview clip is below.
Watch What Happens Live – Tonight’s guests are Alexis Bellino and news personality Willie Geist.
TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE PREVIEW & TONIGHT’S NEW EPISODE OF THE OC HOUSEWIVES?
UPDATE - It seems Jim’s absence from Peggy’s dinner from hell is not an accident. If you recall, Alexis told E! News right before the premiere of season 6 that her hubby Jim Bellino had quit the show. And while Jim appeared on the first couple of episodes this season, he has barely been shown in the recent episodes. Back then Alexis cited Jim wasn’t happy with the “jerk” edit Bravo gave him, and in one of her recent Bravo blogs, Alexis reveals Jim decided to film much less following their trip to San Diego.
“Many of you are inquiring why I’m not on the show much the past two episodes. I think I know why. It might be because of the fact that my husband decided to film less after the San Diego trip,” blogged Alexis last month. It’s safe to assume Jim caught wind that he would be getting the “jerk edit” once again based on the questions Bravo asked Alexis during her interview about the trip, hence his reason to film less. But hey, if the title of a controlling douchey husband fits…
In a new interview with Celebuzz, the 34-year-old Alexis discusses her relationship with her fellow housewives costars today, her Alexis Couture fashion line, having to grow a “thick skin” for her second season, and most importantly, having to deal with the backlash from being on the show. Excerpts are below –
On the show, you have the Alexis Couture fashion line. How is that going?
It’s going great! The episode you guys get to see it on has the photo shoot for it, so you’ll get to see the different styles. I also wear stuff on the show. I followed something that I was passion about and got someone on board with me, so I made it happen.
What three words would you use to describe your own personal style?
Trendy, edgy, and girly. Very Sex & the City.
You’ve been on the show now for a couple of years. It what ways has your life changed since starting the show?
It’s changed a lot in the fact that when I first came on the show I was kind of naïve and thought I was going to be friends with everybody. After a season of seeing everyone’s true colors and seeing how reality television works, it put a bit of a twist for the second year. You second guess yourself more because you think about how other people will perceive it. I’ve also just decided that I need to take more risks. I was very timid and scared to be confrontational during the first year. I was worried about what America would think, but I realized people are going to have different opinions.
What is your relationship with the rest of the housewives like right now?
It’s sad because I thought with Peggy coming on we would be able to survive and get back to the friendship. We’re not really on good terms as of right now, but I’m still hopeful that something might change or that we can have a discussion and start over. I miss my friend. With Tamra, I’m just shocked at what comes out of her mouth. I was hopeful that Vicki and I could start again, but I’m hurt. I hope we can put the past behind us.
How do you deal with the negativity in the press?
I don’t even read what is in the press. I stay out of it because I know that no matter what, people are going to say negative things. If someone tells me they read something, I’m hurt at first, but I think my skin is a lot thicker this year.
Is there any other housewife from a different franchise that you identify with?
I don’t know if I identify with them, but there are definitely other ‘housewives’ I like. The group is kind of like a sorority. I like Kyle from Beverly Hills a lot because I think she is real. I think I can relate to her.
You already have three children, so are you planning on having any more kids anytime soon?
You know, I’d love to have another little boy. My husband is absolutely done, though. I’m hopeful maybe in a couple of years he’d like to adopt.
And when it comes to the revelation on the most recent episode thatTamra Barneyand Fernanda Rochashared a bathroom kiss while Tamra was still with husband Simon Barney, Alexis makes it clear she is not Team Tamra. Below is what Alexis had to say about Tammy Sue’s cheating in her Bravo blog –
“Oh boy, then we get to the scene with Fernanda and Lynne. Who else was shocked to hear Tamra and Fernanda kissed last year at Tamra’s birthday while Tamra was still married? Why am I shocked though? Cheating is cheating, whether it’s with a girl or a boy. That was a chin-dropper! And once again, I feel Tamra has pointed fingers and blamed others for her own actions. She claims Gretchen cheated and was this horrible girlfriend to Jeff, yet it seems Tamra did the same thing she was accusing Gretchen of. Also, getting a little deeper, Tamra just accused me of not owning the foreclosure rumor (which was never true as we sold our home), but she is not owning kissing this other woman?”
Oddly enough, Alexis’s first husband Jeff Barryaccused her of having an affair with a wealthy father of three she met at the gym during their marriage. According to an interview Jeff gave two years ago, he and Alexis moved to San Diego shortly after their 2002 wedding. “We were young and didn’t have a lot of money.” says Jeff. “Then Alexis…started hanging out with trust fund babies. Having the right pair of expensive jeans became important to her.”
Jeff stated he pretended to be a friend of Alexis’s and started emailing her under false pretenses. His suspicions were then confirmed that Alexis was indeed sleeping with the married wealthy man. Coughs, this might explain why good ol Jim doesn’t trust like Alexis going anywhere without him, coughs.
The Missouri college sweethearts separated in 2003 after just 15 months of marriage and the divorce was finalized in June 2004. You can click here to read more on Alexis’s first marriage and divorce.
As forGretchen Rossi, she seemed to skim over the revelation of Tamra’s cheating in her Bravo blog, perhaps not wanting her own skeletons to come out again. “All I have to say is wow regarding the scene with Fernanda! Drama! An affair possibly took place? If Fernanda’s partner didn’t know, I wonder if Simon ever knew?” were Gretchen’s only comments about the kiss. Well played Gretch.
TELL US – THOUGHTS ON ALEXIS’S INTERVIEW AND COMMENTS?
We’re midway through the sixth season of the Real Housewives of Orange Countyso what better time to bring you some before/old school/blackmail photos of your favorite OC housewives. On the top left is none other than Tamra Sue Barney and on the right is a teenage Gretchen Rossi! (Feel free to click on either image to make it bigger).
Below are way more before they were famous photos including some shots of Alexis Bellino and hubby Jim Bellino before any plastic surgery, Peggy Tanous during her modeling days, a much younger Vicki Gunvalson and hubby Donn. Plus more awesome shots of Tamra & her wild 80s hairstyles, and more Gretchen!
In a new interview with CNN, Vicki, 48, actually feels that the Bravo hit show definitely contributed to her separation from husband of 16 years Donn Gunvalson.
“Six years ago when Donn and I started, we didn’t have 90 percent of the problems that we have now and I truly believe it is the show,” says Vicki who filed for divorce back in October. Vicki and Donn, who were still living together following the filing, have since listed their OC home for sale last month.
Along with the show, Vicki also blames her busy career for her split from Donn. “[W]e had a good foundation. We really felt like we could battle it and the reality was I got too busy for him. My business in itself – I have 400 agents and 12 employees and I’m at the office a lot because I was trying to film TV in there and then he felt deflated… the center of my universe was not my husband,” she says. “I didn’t have anything left for him and we grew distant. If I didn’t have the show I would have had more time for him. That’s the reality.”
Vicki goes on to add that while being on TV played a role in the failure of her marriage, it’s also a matter of life playing out in front of the camera.
“Look there’s gonna be divorces and there is gonna be deaths like when Lou Knickerbocker died. We didn’t expect that,” says Vicki. “[T]his is the reality and if you are throwing your life on a reality TV show, you have to be prepared for the consequences.”
While no one will ever fully know all that went wrong with this marriage, I can’t help but wonder if Tamra Barney’s divorce had an impact on Vicki’s decision to leave Donn. Perhaps Vicki is feeling the grass is greener on the other side and that she will find her own ‘Eddie’ though she might come to realize there aren’t a lot of men who will put up with her shenanigans Donns out there. Plus back in March, Vicki insinuated to UsWeekly that she wanted Donn to fight for her which makes me wonder if she really thought the whole divorce thing through or if this was a failed attempt to get Donn’s attention. Whatever the case, the couple is moving forward with their divorce.
Once again, below is a preview clip of the upcoming episode of the OC Housewives, which sheds some light on Vicki & Donn’s marital issues.
TELL US – THOUGHTS ON VICKI’S COMMENTS? DO YOU THINK REALITY TV CAUSES MARRIAGES TO FAIL?
On the latest episode of Real Housewives of the O.C., Peggy Tanous and Tamra Barney channel their inner Ramodels, Gretchen Rossi gets immortalized on canvas, Vicki Gunvalson worries about her daughter’s Vegas vacation, and Alexis Bellino fancies herself the next Michael Kors (I am so sorry for the comparison, Mr. Kors). Former cast members Jeana Keough and Lynne Curtin return to make things interesting for Tamra.
Vicki invites Alexis over for a glass of wine to clear the air. Alexis is still droning on and on about Macegate. Vicki feigns interest in Alexis’ business endeavors while making little digs here and there. It’s all fine (yeah, right) with Alexis as she always tries “to do what Jesus would do.” Alexis tells Vicki that she’s not stupid, to which Vicki chastises, “Of course, not, you’re just young.” Alexis fires back, “I have a 48-year-old husband who has a lot of life lessons.” Um, Alexis, that statement did nothing but remind the viewers you married a much older sugar daddy…with a chimplant.
