Kate Plus Seven doesn’t have quite the same ring, now does it? Until the Gosselin sextuplets turn eighteen, you can bet their fame hungry (one confirmed, one claims to hate the spotlight but always ends up in the tabloids) parents will be fighting over the welfare of all eight of their children in a very public manner.
TLC’s first family became even more famous after Jon and Kate divorced. Kate ditched her signature rooster hairdo and sought out any television appearance available, while Jon spent his time in tumultuous relationships with much younger women, palling around with Michael Lohan, and morphing into a free Ed Hardy billboard. Sure, they were super entertaining to those of us who love a reality train wreck, but their poor children didn’t sign up for this madness! And, like all things Gosselin, the saga continues.
Holly Robinson Peete, of old school 21 Jump Street fame (yeah!) and husband & former quarterback Rodney Peete are getting their own docuseries (aka reality show) on OWN. The working titled production, For Peete’s Sake, will “follow the lives of husband and wife duo Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete as they juggle their careers with their family life,” according to blackcelebkids.com.
Why is OWN taking an interest in the Peete family, which includes the couples’ four children – twins RJ and Ryan Elizabeth (17), middle son Robinson (13), and the youngest, Roman (10) – and Holly’s widowed mother, Dolores? Well, according to OWN president Sheri Salata, “As longtime members of ‘The Oprah Show’ family, we’ve watched Holly and Rodney navigate successful careers in show business, a devoted marriage and a growing, love-filled family.” Salata adds, “This new series gives an entertaining and honest look at a modern family that just happens to live in the celebrity spotlight.” Salata also tweeted yesterday, “Team Peete is ready to roll!” after Holly had posted a photo on her Twitter account of her hubby and her hanging with the Lady Who Rules Us All, Oprah Winfrey.
Jillian Michaels is returning to reality TV with a new docuseries called Being Jillian, which follows the former ragey trainer of TheBiggest Loser as she juggles family alongside her fitness and health business. Additionally Joel McHale will be expanding on his The Soup ‘tales from the week’ concept by executive producing a a new show focusing on snarking snark from outrageous and hilarious website comments found throughout the internet. <Crossing-Fingers Reality Tea makes an appearance!>
In Just Jillian, Jillian“strips down and bares it all” for an intimate and revealing docu-follow which exposes the real Jillian; thus giving viewers an “authentic, unfiltered look inside this surprisingly sensitive superstar’s private world and family.”
“Viewers have been privy to every part of the couple’s relationship over the years as they became parents, dealt with Mendeecees‘s incarceration, the challenges of their subsequent separation, and eventually, his conditional release,” shared VH1. “Now, VH1 invites fans to be present for the happiest day of Mendeecees and Yandy‘s lives as they join together in holy matrimony.“
Paris Hilton is one of the original reality stars. She took being a “celebutante” to the next level of branding with a reality show, product lines and more. Paris is now DJ’ing, among a million other things, and making a ton of money without having to parade around for cameras anymore. She sat down with Nylon magazine for their new issue to chat about everything from getting daily reality TV offers to launching her new makeup and skincare line.
On how she’s changed since doing The Simple Life. (Oh how I wanted her pink truck back then!) “Back then I didn’t even wear fake eyelashes, and I didn’t know about contouring. I didn’t really wear a lot of makeup on the show. I was more of a tomboy before.”
