Robyn Dixon set off a bit of a firestorm on this week’s Real Housewives of Potomac when she asked if Ashley Darby‘s husband’s behavior was “a white guy thing.” At Charrisse Jackson Jordan‘s 50th birthday bash, Michael Darby’s antics came under scrutiny when he allegedly started grabbing the butts of fellow…fellows! Katie’s Rost‘s boyfriend, Andrew, was the recipient of Michael’s playful grab-a$$, and seemed to take it all in stride. But the whole situation blew up after Robyn asked her (very loaded) question.
Robyn defends, “I’d first like to explain my comment, because it surely was taken too seriously and in this racially sensitive world we are living in today, it needs to be explained. I wasn’t trying to create a racial stir by asking if Michael’s grabbing of Andrew’s butt was a ‘white guy thing.’ I really was just trying to throw Michael a lifeline, because what other good explanation is there for a straight, married man to grab another man’s butt? Hmmmm?”
Katie Rost has made it her tagline, and her storyline, on the debut season of The Real Housewives of Potomac. “I’m a ball and gala girl, it’s my legacy and my calling,” smiles Katie in her opening sequences. But how much of this “legacy” translates into action when it comes to raising money through charity events? Some say, not much – if anything at all!
Katie’s family’s charitable organization, The Rost Foundation, is apparently real (realer than a Real Housewife, at least!), but hasn’t performed a whole lotta, um, charity in the past decade or so. Yet, Katie constantly refers to The Rost Foundation as the impetus behind planning lavish eventsthat never pan out or even get off the ground. So, what gives, here?
Eileen jokes about Dubai, “I wonder if Kyle [Richards] is a genius for inviting us all to a destination with such strict laws. Since swearing is a punishable offense, I guess I’ll have to get really creative in my communication this week.”
“Getting to Dubai was a journey,” admits Eileen. “When we arrived, it was like we’d been flown to another planet. The hotel was extravagant, over the top, and definitely ‘other worldly.’ I’m so glad I called dibs on the underwater ‘suite,’ a word I’ll use loosely, because it was about 10 times the size of my first apartment. I also didn’t have to share a room with anyone. I mean besides the fishes…”
Last night’s Vanderpump Rules reunion, part one, dedicated a fair amount of time to rehashing Scheana Marie and Mike Shay‘s troubled first year of marriage. While Shay battled a Vicodin addiction off camera, Scheana turned to her paid castmates friends for support. How Scheana spoke about sobriety (Don’t be a sober bore!) and her apparent non-support for Shay’s sober aspirations (Here, have a vodka-soaked tampon!) got her into a lot of hot water with the viewing public.
Now Scheana is backtracking – ScheanaStyle! Which means she feels sort of bad…but not really. (Wait – is it all Stassi Schroeder‘s fault!? Yeah, let’s blame her!) She reflects, “I don’t like to have regrets. I live and learn and I learned a lot this year watching the show back and seeing the negative feedback. I will say that I’m thankful for how hard this past year was because it humbled me and made me look at things from an outside perspective. A lot of things I said were taken out of context and that was extremely frustrating. I never meant to come off as unsupportive or uneducated.”
There are blogs that entertain and blogs that inform. Blogs that gush and blogs that gloat. There are even blogs that change the game in one fell swoop (looking at you, Eileen Davidson!) by revealing a darker side of a reality star than we’ve previously seen. Phaedra Parks’blog, however, does none of these things. And so it is that she remains the Supreme Queen of Evasion and Deflection!
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star is under some scrutiny over her relationship with ex-bestie and costar, Kandi Burruss. More specifically, folks are wondering whether Phae-Phae made the call that caused the Feds to show up at both Kandi’s and Cynthia Bailey’s houses to confiscate items Apollo Nida was storing there. True to form, Phaedra addresses NONE of this mess in her blog, instead focusing on what a great party planner Dwight is – and how on point Kenya Moore’s costume was.
After Ashley Darby’s husband Michaelarrived unexpectedly to his own beach house during a girls’ trip, Karen Huger took it upon herself to go on and on…and ON about the perceived etiquette breach. Karen claims it was Ashley’s reaction to the situation more than the situation itself which really ruffled her feathers, though. And which caused her to pop off in a quite un-polished moment!
The Real Housewives of Potomacstar first comments on Gizelle Bryant’s decision to publicly confront Katie Rost about possible drug use. She scolds, “I believe that it was not the right setting for such personal/sensitive questions in front of the group. If I were Katie I would’ve stood my ground with Gizelle if I were being attacked.”
