Ahh, Real Housewives of New York…this week we say G’day to Jill (have you missed her? She missed you!), Sonja reveals the housewives’ pecking order to newbie Cindy, Kelly and Ramona call a truce (??), LuAnn makes it clear that shopping parties are not her glass of pinot cup of tea, and Alex finds her (slightly grating) voice when it comes to holding her own.
Jill returns to lunch with LuAnn, Kelly and Sonja, and the first thing out of Jill’s mouth is that she is done mouthing off about others. No. More. Gossip. From. Jill. And 5-4-3-2… “Oh, I want to be out of the gossip and the garbage, but sometimes I get sucked back in…” Kelly’s threat drunk text from Ramona resurfaces and the ladies learn Kelly is going to meet Ramona for lunch the following day. Sonja is concerned that Kelly isn’t quite ready to confront meet with Ramona, and thus begins the role-playing to prepare Kelly for the inevitable barrage of Rameddling. If Ramona ever gets the flu this season, I think Sonja could easily just grab a glass of pinot grigio, do Ramona better than Ramona does Ramona, and we viewers would be none the wiser.

On the fifth episode this season titled ‘Following Pecking Orders,’ Jill Zarin returns from Australia a new woman—or so she says. Her newfound sense of purpose to avoid gossip quickly ends when she dishes about Ramona during lunch with Kelly, LuAnn and Sonja. Kelly is ready to face Ramona about her recent behavior, but the other ladies don’t know if she is quite ready. In addition, Sonja details the group’s “pecking order” dynamic; Cindy and Ramona meet for drinks, but tension spills over Jill. A preview clip is below.
Watch What Happens Live - The lone guest tonight is none other than Kelly Ripa!
In other NYC news, Alex McCord discusses her newly found voice and attitude in a new interview with TV Guide. Excerpts are below -
TV Guide Magazine: Gotta say, you are sassy this season!
Alex: [Laughs] I’ve always been empowered. It’s just that now you’re seeing it on TV.
TV Guide Magazine: Do you think your friendship with former Housewife Bethenny Frankel changed you?
Alex: My metamorphosis, if you want to call it that, had nothing to do with anything other than my being fed up. In the real world, it might be enough to think someone’s an idiot. But on reality TV, you sort of have to beat them over the head with it. Otherwise, they don’t know.
TV Guide Magazine: Has it gotten old, always being filmed?
Alex: The more I do this, the more fun it’s becoming. One thing that I think makes New York special is that we still have four original cast members left. What that means is whether we like each other or not, we have a shared history of four years. We know where each other’s buttons are and how to push them. That makes for magical TV. All you have to do is get us in a room and turn the cameras on.
Meanwhile, Alex and her hubby Simon van Kempen are selling t-shirts with the now infamous “Thug In A Cocktail Dress” catchphrase scribbled on them, similar to the one Alex is wearing in the above photo. They are donating 50% of all proceeds to the Housing Works charity. The t-shirts and other apparel items plus jewelry are available at Thuginacocktaildress.com.

When E! News caught up with Adriana over the weekend, she made it clear she is not a fan of the latest season of the NYC Housewives. The reason? Because it is Bethenny-less.
“Bethenny Frankel was my favorite,” said Adriana to E! at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. “I don’t think it’s the same without her. I think it’s a bunch of matronly women trying to look hot,” added the pot.
The topic then turned back to her own franchise and whether or not a second season is underway, or whether the show would be getting the axe a la the Real Housewives of DC.
“We can’t officially say it yet, but I’m pretty sure…I’m pretty confident…,” said Adriana with a smile about the possibility of a second season. She also added that she signed a six-year contract with NBC (NBC Universal owns Bravo). Oddly enough, some of the DC Housewives were also confident their show would be returning and well, we all know how that turned out.
It will definitely be interesting to see what Bravo decides to do with the Miami ladies. We’re thinking a cast overhaul might help breathe some needed new life into the otherwise stale series.
TELL US – THOUGHTS ON ADRIANA’S COMMENTS? DOES THE RHONY SUCK WITHOUT BETHENNY? SHOULD BRAVO BRING BACK THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF MIAMI? WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU MAKE TO THE RHOM CAST?
First Kelly celebrated with a party at the TAO Nightclub at the Venetian on Thursday and then with a pool party the next day at the Tao Beach in Las Vegas, Nevada. The mom of two, who posed for Playboy over a year ago, showed off her crazy toned bikini body while sporting a purple print two-piece! More bikini photos of Kelly below.
In other news, Bethenny Frankeltook to her Bravo blog last week and made some comments about her former nanny Gina, who quit on the most recent episode to focus on her health. In her blog post, Bethenny also talks new nanny Dawa and gives an update on Gina’s health. Excerpts from Bethenny’s blog is below -
“There’s a new nanny in town, and she brings peace to my home. Dawa, as we both identically pronounced, is the opposite of Gina. She is quiet, shy, respectful, a light eater, and she never talks on the phone nor does she watch TV.
I love me some Gina, and her health is good now by the way, but we needed to transition into a mellow nanny. Most importantly, Dawa, like Gina, loves my baby Bryn and everything is going smoothly. Feeling comfortable with child care is peace of mind.
I’m very organized, or try to be. In the home, and with a baby, that is next to impossible. Nevertheless, I keep trying. Dawa being able to blow dry my hair is an extra added bonus. Truthfully, I’ve only had her do it twice. My hair is usually in a ponytail or a clip. It’s good to know she’s there in a pinch.”
This episode of Real Housewives of New York City was scattered, hard to follow, and all over the place – so the writing is reflective of how difficult it is to connect the plot points. The episode, which Bravo dubbed “Ramona’d” was all about Ramona Singer unleashing her Pinot Personality and letting her cray-cray take over, I call that Cramona. Crazy Ramona. We’ve seen it before from Mrs. Mario Singer – however not like this, but lets start out the recapping by focusing on another lady who is losing her marbles and a different one who is losing her teeth. Sonja Morgan and Cindy Barshop take it away!
Replacing Jill Zarin this season as Empress of the frienemies, Sonja agreed to trek all the long way downtown to TriBeCa and meet Cindy for some shopping and designer schmoozing at Vivienne Tam and then lunch at Cipriani. Unfortunately, when Sonja arrived Cindy had some news: after having a few too many Martinis at Ramona’s event the previous night, she devoured a bunch of pistachios and the veneers on her two front teeth fell off! A likely story if I’ve ever heard one –I personally think she took a drunken tumble after all those martinis. It happens to the best of us. The ladies proceed into the store where Cindy actually pulls out the broken front teeth, which she has brought with her in a Ziplock baggie along with an accompanying tube of Fixadent. While in Vivienne Tam Cindy, asks Sonja to help her put her teeth back in. Yuck. Sonja is understandably grossed out! Who wants to eat lunch after all that? Sonja still does, actually.

On the 4th episode this season titled “Ramona’d,” Ramona gripes when her Pinot Grigio wine isn’t made available at Cindy’s birthday party. Meanwhile, a betrayal results when Sonja confides in Cindy that she plans to negotiate a meeting between Ramona and Kelly, and LuAnn throws a cocktail party for the wives in the Hamptons.
The episode airs at 10/9c and a preview clip is below.
Watch What Happens Live – Andy Cohen will host a special “Watch What Happens Live: Royal Wedding Spectacular” tonight in true Bravo style with guests Countess LuAnn De Lesseps and Cat Ommanneyfrom the now canceled Real Housewives of D.C. If you recall, Cat famously made out with Prince Harry a few years ago and sold told her story to a UK tabloid.
Moving right along to Sonja Morgan who tells the HollywoodLife that being on the NYC Housewives is “emotionally exhausting.”
Sonja, who’s popularity has taken a hit this season following what some are calling overblown-egoritis, admits she has a hard time watching the episodes in advance (Bravo delivers each week’s episode to the stars of the show about a week in advance so that they know what’s coming). “I get too nervous to watch, so I put it off,” says Sonja, adding that she watches the episodes along with the rest of us.
Another tough part of doing the show for Sonja is having to relive the bad experiences, for example her fight with friend and costar Alex McCord. “It’s very hard because these incidences, they happen months ago and then they’re over in a matter of hours,” says Sonja. “But we relive it every time the show airs.”
Sonja also states that the show producers “take hours of film and then they take the most dramatic and highlight it. So that’s TV drama!” As for Sonja and Alex, the two seem to be in a better place today as they are still friends, and have both decided to put the march madness drama behind them.
TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE PREVIEW, SONJA’S COMMENTS & TONIGHT’S NEW EPISODE?
Jill Zarin isn’t just sporting a new look, but the Real Housewives of New Yorkstar got a (seemingly) new attitude. In a recent interview with Zap2it, Jill explains why she thinks she was judged so harshly last season, as well as why it was important for her to return to the show and set the record straight as “the real Jill.”
Well, folks, the real Jill thinks (probably hopes) you have the attention span of a five-year-old kid after a breakfast of fun dip and cherry coke (thanks, LFO). In the interview, Jill states, “The good thing about TV is people have a short memory and make decisions and such based on what they see in front of them at the time.” Hmmm, I understand the reason behind her thinking, but her logic is a bit flawed…what people are seeing in front of them so far this season is the same catty woman who talks behind people’s backs while begging to be seen as the likeable, unaffected (for the most part) lady we met in Season One.
“There’s no question that I think a lot of fans who questioned their feelings about me have come back to the nest,” Jill assures Zap2it. “I think because there were a lot of influences last year and that’s last year,” she adds. Safe to assume she hasn’t seen this poll.
Jill goes on to describe the relationship with her castmates as being similar to a summer camp. “I sort of visualize the show like the seven of us are in a bunk,” she explains. “And some of them will be your best friends. Some of them you’ll like a lot. And some of them it will be harder to get along with. We’re all in the same bunk, [s]o you do the best you can to try to get along with everybody all the time and it doesn’t always work, but you try.”
When it comes to the demise of her friendship with former costar Bethenny Frankel, Jill makes certain to put all the blame on Bethenny. “Last year, I don’t believe that was the case, because Bethenny was leaving the show and she had no reason to keep trying,” explains Jill. “She was moving out of the bunk. She knew she wasn’t coming back next summer, so she didn’t have to make up with anybody.”
Jill also credits her loved ones for encouraging her to return and show viewers the “real Jill,” you know, the one who refers to her costar as a “f*cking b*tch” on national television. “I spent a lot of time with my family and decided to come back to the show because I didn’t want to leave on a down note,” she says. “I needed to regroup and re-center.”
Jill goes on to say that she is happy with what was filmed for the fourth season. She cites it as her favorite season to shoot, saying she felt healthier than ever when filming began. So, while Jill and her fellow castmates make lanyards, roast marshmallows and sing songs around a campfire, I’m curious to know…would you want to bunk with this season’s Jill Zarin??
According to a new report, not all reality stars are raking in the dough when it comes to their books.
The HollywoodReporter reported last week that Bethenny Frankelis the most successful of them all. Not only did she sell her Skinnygirl alcohol line for $120 million, but both of her first two books – which made the New York Bestseller list – sold a combined total of 480,000 copies!
New Jersey Housewife Teresa Giudice’s first cookbook – Skinny Italian – was also a hit as she sold over 100,000 copies.
Other Bravo housewives didn’t have as much luck starting with Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes whose memoir ‘Never Make the Same Mistake Twice‘ flopped pretty badly. Nene’s book sold 10,000 copies according to the Perez Hilton blog.
Also flopping were Jill Zarin andDanielle Staub, as their books reportedly sold fewer than 10,000 copies each. The Jersey Shore reality stars didn’t fare much better as Snooki’s book sold 35,000 copies with The Situation’s book only selling 15,000 copies.
