Shahs of Sunset

Kim Kardashian has a new fan.  Don't worry…it's not me!  The reality maven recently came under fire for a series of tweets about the discord in the Middle East.  While I think that the backlash Kim received for trying to be nice (even I have to face the fact that she was being genuine…and that's hard to admit), she is at least finding solace in the comments of fellow (less famous) reality stars.  Riding coattails much, Shahs of Sunset?

Reza Farahan, the openly gay and amazing breakout star of Bravo's latest hit, is coming to Kimmie Kakes aid in light of her attempt at international diplomacy.  After getting death threats for her Israel and Palestine tweets, Kim is planning a goodwill trip to Kuwait and BahrainShe heard they have awesome nightclubs.  Reza thinks her Middle Eastern promotional tour is the greatest idea ever.  Seriously, dude, you need to play it a bit cooler.  After all, your show has already had a successful season with another on the way.  No need to salivate over Kim like you don't know what it's like to be slightly famous.

Shahs of Sunset season 2 has officially been announced and Bravo has released the cast. Sammy Younai is out and Lilly Ghalichi is in! Promising plenty of drama and lots of challenges for its Persian princes and princesses, the cast will deal with struggles both between themselves and in their personal lives.

This season Reza Farahan will face a full-on "gaylife crisis" while MJ Javid decides to finally pursue a committed relationship. Mike Shouhed finds the girl of his dream, but there's one snafu – she's not Jewish! Asa Soltan Rahmati's dream of becoming a Persian pop princess is threatened by a financial crisis.

GG Gharachedaghi decides it's finally time for her earn a living so she starts a business with her sister. Unfortunately her anger management issues cause major problems. And new girl Lilly seems to have it all on the surface – but balancing her business and her personal life are proving to be more difficult than it looks!

No word on whether last seasons dramaful extra Anita Gohari will be returning, but I hope so. I'm surprised she wasn't promoted to a full-season cast member. I'm also surprised they haven't brought on an extra guy to replace Sammy

Below are the official cast photos – and the trailer for season 2!

TELL US – WILL YOU BE WATCHING? WILL LILLY MAKE A GOOD ADDITION TO THE CAST?

Shahs of Sunset is gearing up for it's second season and with the rumored firing of Sammy Younai, naturally a replacement is needed. And who better than an uber hot model who is guaranteed to get GiGi Gharachedaghi's friend "Crispy" going?

According to Glamour Magazine, designer and model Lilly Ghalichi will be joining the cast! And she is quite the impressive package. Lily describes herself as “a Persian Barbie on the outside, but…with intelligence and drive on the inside.” She's a licesened attorney that left the 9-5 world to become a swimsuit designer behind the line Have Faith Swimgerie and lifestyle blogger with a tell-all twist. She's also known for her glamour girl style!

Can I get a "Thank you, jesus!!"??

The Shahs of Sunset is set to return in December and they've shed some pounds – and I'm not just talking about MJ's trimmed down frame.   It seems that wannabe-playah Sammy Younai is not returning for season 2, according to Tamara Tattles!

I was completely into Shahs from episode one – the glitzy getaways, the drunken Vegas romps, the tazer guns and rage issues, but I just could NOT warm up to Sammy.  He came across as fake and he tried too hard to be interesting.  I would've had more respect if he hadn't acted so smarmy and been a little more humble.  (Remember that blind date where he thought he was too good for the hot girl?)

What do you get when you mix Lisa Vanderpump‘s best buddy Mohamed Hadid and the Shahs of Sunset’s Sammy Younai?  Why a $58 million mansion, of course!  The home was developed by Mohamed and featured on the first season of Shahs when he asked Sammy to oversee construction while he was out of town.  According to jewcy.com, the monstrosity boasts an indoor pool that smells like lemons and a pantry within the pantry.  I think it’s safe to say that I am way too poor to even be writing about this!

Last week two time loser in television love and all around loser Brad Womack slammed his ex-fiance Emily Maynard; saying he “dodged a bullet” with her and had no plans to watch her look for love again on The Bachelorette. Well, Emily is a nice person and speaking to Access Hollywood, she genuinely believes Brad didn’t mean to sound so harsh. OK – is it possible for Emily to, like, ever get upset?

“At first, my feelings were really hurt, because we left everything very civil and I’ve never said a bad word about him,” Emily confessed. “But, knowing Brad, he didn’t mean it that way. That’s what I want to say,” she added.

As for how things went for her this season, Emily said she had serious reservations about kissing so many different guys as The Bachelorette, but whaddaya gonna do?

Reza Farahan wants us to know that not all reality TV is scripted and “steered” by the powers-that-be. (aka Ryan Seacrest).

The Shahs of Sunset star says that he and his fellow cast mates are the real deal.  And unlike some of those others famewhores on the air, you will find this gang together even when they’re not filming.  “It’s not a reality show based on characters that were brought together randomly — I had dinner with GG last night, I talk to Mike everyday, MJ and Sammy are in Coachella for a music festival together right now.”

Reza says that no story lines are contrived or forced on them.  You know, it was their own decision to gift each other with colonics and film it for the world to see (and be traumatized by).  “Ryan would call, email, text, check in but it was just to make sure we were happy, make sure we were OK, make sure that whatever feedback, whether positive or negative that we were OK with it. But it was never to steer us. There’s no steering.”

Also not fake (besides Reza’s pornstache)? The intimate details of his life.  He is committed to spreading his fabulousness to all the land and in the only way he knows how: through brutal honesty and an “all or nothing” attitude.  “You can’t have expectations of wanting to bring about change in your community if you have one foot in and one foot out…. There’s so much homophobia and it was either: not do it, or if I was going to do it, I was going to put it all out there. And that’s what I did.”

Reza is okay with putting it all out there, but he said that his cast mates have a lot of regret over things they did or said on camera, but he didn’t dish any details. Perhaps

Reza is hoping that by sharing their lives, they’ll do some good to break down some of the misunderstandings out there about Persians in general.  “We’re humanizing a group of people that have been characterized and misrepresented as terrorists. If I’m a hard-working gay man who’s proud of himself and his family supports him, I want to showcase that instead of what’s been showcased since I got to this country, which is that we’re terrorists, we all have camels in our driveways and we all own an Uzi, all of which are not true.”

Even though he’s wanting to bring some change and give viewers a new perspective on Persians, he also isn’t the spokesperson for the entire community.  “At the end of the day we’re not trying to represent anything other than ourselves. I wasn’t elected by the Persian House of Representatives to represent my people and this is not a documentary on the plight of the Persian people. This is about six fun, fabulous people living in L.A., period.”

After seeing themselves in the six season one episodes, I’m dying to see how they’ll behave in season two since some of them have regrets. Hopefully it doesn’t get boring!

Are you ready for more mustaches, diamond water, taser guns, parties and cat fighting? Bravo just announced that it has officially renewed Shahs of Sunset for a second season!

The news isn’t too shocking since the ratings were increasing with each one of the six episodes.  The season finale was the most watched, with 1.5 million viewers, which was a 20% increase over the previous week’s show.

The original cast consists of Reza Farahan, Mercedes “MJ” Javid, Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, Mike Shouhed, Asa Rahmati, and Sammy Younai.  We’re assuming that the entire cast will return, but I wonder if they’ll add any of the side players (like Anita Gohari) to the full-time roster?

If we’re voting anyone off the island, I’m checking Sammy’s name on my ballot.

TELL US – ARE YOU HAPPY ABOUT SEASON 2? ARE YOU HOOKED ON THE SHOW? OR DO YOU WISH IT WOULD GO AWAY?
