Rachel Zoe Project

This is so NOT bananas.  In fact, it's so far from being bananas it's practically a cantaloupe.  Everyone's favorite 1970's inspired bag lady stylist turned designer returned to Bravo last night with a vengeance.  That's right!  The fifth season of the Rachel Zoe Project premiered, and it started off on a very bad note thanks to Page Six.

Way back in August, Page Six published a scathing article saying that Rachel Zoe's new line was in trouble and was not attracting customers at high end department stores.  The article speculating that her show would be canned before a fifth season could air.  Well, we all know that last part isn't true!  As you can imagine, Rachel wasn't too thrilled with the article, and we got to see her reaction play out in our living rooms.

According to a major news outlet, Cameron Diaz has fired Rachel Zoe as her stylist. I know, I know – how can we possibly go on with our regularly schedule Friday after reading such devastating news? It won't be easy – but we must try.

The New York Post has reported that Cameron is no longer working with Rachel, adding, "Some sources snipe that Zoe's been too busy building her own empire, with clothes, shoes, bags and accessories bearing her name, and that she's got less time for styling her celeb clients."

Thank you, Bravo.  Thank you.  The network has announced it is renewing some of our favorite reality shows, as well as giving a new platform to a familiar face.  We will now be able to find out what the fashionable peeps are doing thanks to the line up.  I.  DIE.

The former besties from the Rachel Zoe Project realized that one show wasn't big enough for the both of them.  After a falling out between the teeny vintage draped sourpuss and her uber-preppy gay Canadian sidekick, we were treated to double the pleasure in stylist shows.  Bravo has now confirmed that both Rachel Zoe and Brad Goreski will be back for more.

Over four seasons of The Rachel Zoe Project viewers have watched Rachel Zoe evolve from waifish, self-absorbed A-List celebrity stylist to totally demanding, malnourished, self-important business mogul and now mom. Now new report claims that the bottom is about to drop out from America’s worst boss!

It seems that last season garnered very low ratings for Rachel’s show, which focused predominately on how much she hates ex-assistant Brad Goreski and her pregnancy. Both of which really have nothing to do with fashion. You know, the real reason people even cared about the show.

A lack of viewers’ interest in Rachel’s personal problems culminating with poor sales of her retail line and a lessening of celebrity clients in exchange for focusing on her brand has Bravo execs and fashion investors worried about the future of her empire.

In an all new interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Rachel Zoe, Bravolebrity and stylist to the A-list, makes it pretty clear she still harbors some resentment for her former assistant Brad Goreski!

When asked about Brad’s Bravo spinoff It’s a Brad, Brad World, Rachel doesn’t mince her words. “I won’t ever see it,” snipes Rachel. “I don’t think it matters enough to me, to be honest. He should live his life how he wants. He’s not in my life and won’t be. People move on. All that matters is having good people around me.”

The two parted ways back in 2010 after Brad decided to branch off on his own. Rachel has since accused Brad of using her and lying to her about his plans to launch his career, while, there have also been reports alleging Brad stole a client or two from Rachel. Brad has always denied any wrong doing and stated back in January that Rachel has not been truthful.

Rachel’s interview with THR is for its second annual list of the most powerful stylists in Hollywood. Rachel, who recently turned 40, is however missing from the list of the top 25 stylists as the mag deems her “too big to rank.”

Too big to rank indeed, Rachel has quietly managed to build herself a rapidly growing multimillion-dollar fashion empire with 27 employees and counting. The Rachel Zoe collection is now carried in 210 high-end department stores including Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue, with retailers like Neiman Marcus boasting an 85 percent sell-through. In fact, Rachel has also designed a more affordable line for QVC - which netted $35,000 in sales per minute.

With talks of expanding into Asia and other regions, Rachel is more on the cautious side. “I’d rather tread a little lighter. I’m superstitious,” she says.

And, the question most fans want to know is will she be returning for a 5th season of her Bravo hit show The Rachel Zoe Project? After all, season four averaged 1.4 million viewers per episode. “I don’t know,” says Rachel. “We’re in talks with Bravo… It takes a long time to film, and I give 100 percent of myself as executive producer. I do love being on television and in peoples’ homes. I’m not an actor, so there is a connection that’s real. … But I also think, ‘Are people sick of it? Is it time to do something new?’”

Bravo is reportedly looking into a new concept for the 5th season and could make an announcement at its upfront in April .

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON RACHEL’S COMMENTS ABOUT BRAD? SURPRISED AT RACHEL’S SUCCESS? DO YOU WANT TO SEE A NEW CONCEPT FOR HER SHOW?

If anyone watched It’s A Brad, Brad World last night you saw Brad Goreski, the former Rachel Zoe protege, going out on his own in the wilds of Hollywood styling.

Brad left Rachel last year and to hear her tell it he ditched her five minutes before the Oscars after stealing half of her client load and 3/4 of her couture department yet the newly independent Brad has his own version of how their split went.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, Brad discusses his new show and the departure from Zoe, Inc. “I think people will be surprised to see that when I left I didn’t have a ton of work,” he says of the first episode of his show where he is seen putzing around and searching for jobs — which is very different from Rachel’s styling oriented show The Rachel Zoe Project, filled with apparent manufactured drama. Brad says that’s about the most drama you’ll get from him, “I’m not a table-flipper,” he laughs.

Speaking of Rachel — just what went wrong between the former besties? According to Rachel, Brad told her he wanted to leave the high-paced styling world to live a quiet life with his boyfriend of ten-years, Gary, but then stabbed her in the back by immediately starting his own company and snagging his own show.

Brad’s side of the story is very different (and frankly sounds more plausible). Carefully explaining his perspective and maintaining that he wants to take the high road, Brad is aghast at how Rachel chose to demean him on TV. “I think it’s unfortunate that she decided to take the angle that she did because it’s not the truth.”

“It’s unfortunate that all of the time that I spent with her, and the many lengthy conversations that we had discussing my departure from working with her, that she would choose to character assassinate me on television.” Brad claims he gave Rachel two and a half months notice, trained his replacement (the invisible Jordan?) and even stayed longer to finish uncompleted jobs.

“I just think it’s unfortunate that she feels so competitive with me in a way,” he muses. “Because I left to create a name for myself – and not to ride on any of her coattails.” Brad wouldn’t say why he has been keeping mum about the dissolution of their relationship or if he signed a non-disclosure agreement with the company upon leaving, but he does want to clear his name that he isn’t a client or clothing stealer.

A similar thing happened with another of Rachel’s assistants, Taylor Jacobson, who claims she left the company amicably while Rachel and Rodger continue to slander her to the press and accuse her of stealing. Taylor, like Brad, never really spoke out about the realities of leaving, save to say it wasn’t how Rachel is construing things.

“She’s so incredibly successful, that a stylist starting out – I don’t know what kind of threat that is to her. Maybe she thinks I’m incredibly talented. Who knows,” Brad says of Rachel. Personally, I think she is jealous that Brad’s cheerful and fun personality took off with fans making him the more famous of the two.

“I did reach out to her numerous times, and there was never any response back,” Brad reveals, adding that they often are together at fashion shows and events, but Rachel ignores him. Mature, much?

As for Rachel’s allegations that he tried to steal some of her clients, Brad insists that is not the case. “That’s not the truth. And she knows that’s not the truth. I didn’t even say goodbye to a lot of her clients because I didn’t want anything to be misconstrued as me soliciting anybody.” Brad has styled former Rachel client Demi Moore, but claims Demi sought him out.

“Maybe one day we’ll be able to speak again, but if she chooses to not, then I guess that’s the way it has to be,” he explains. “People are saying, ‘What’s the problem?’ There is no problem from my side. I don’t have any problems with her.”

Rachel clearly does not agree because when asked for comments Rodger Berman (Rachel’s hubs) released the following statement: “Rachel and Rodger are amused by his convenient interpretation of events and have no additional comments.” Wow, Rachel needs to get over herself.

Regardless of the fallout, Brad is glad he got the opportunity. He says Rachel taught him that “it’s possible to do both styling and the show at the same time, but I learned so many more things from her about styling, and working in fashion, and being kind to people.”

And he is optimistic about the future. He is currently styling Christina Ricci and Rashida Jones, getting ready for awards season and he just signed a deal to work with Kate Spade!
