Luann de Lesseps is fresh out of rehab, so of course, it’s time to whisk her away for a wine-fueled weekend and cruel reminders of her failed marriage. Naturally! The Real Housewives of New York head to the Mayflower Spa in CT, where Luann learns that Ramona Singer tried to score an invite to Tom D’Agostino’s New Year’s Eve party – yup, the very one Luann had heard about in dreaded NOT-WEST-PALM-BEACH! Dorinda Medley continues to peck at Sonja Morgan about her penchant for hanging on to the past, while Bethenny Frankel comes to Sonja’s rescue. Even weakened allies are still allies, I guess?
Before they leave, Luann greets Dorinda at her new apartment – you know, the one she barely moved into before getting cuffed and booked? The PENTHOUSE, dahling! Now, she’s baking cookies and brewing coffee in an effort to keep the rehab/yoga/therapy pink cloud going. Dorinda is glad Lu’s doing so well and hopes a trip to the spa will help her stay in a safe cocoon. Um, except that cocoon contains a Ramona, so…maybe not so safe. Luann’s already heard that Ramona was trying to score an invitation to Tom’s NYE party, which is mind-blowing considering what went down last year.
This season of Real Housewives of New Yorkis just too good. We were blessed with that arrest footage of Luann de Lesseps in Palm Beach. Luann went straight from her arrest to rehab and now she’s back with the cast in tonight’s episode. If anyone deserves to be holding an apple in the center of the opening credits, it’s Luann. Sorry, Bethenny Frankel. As compelling as that feud with Carole Radziwillis, Bethenny’s other scenes are essentially a Skinnygirl infomercial.
For the past two seasons it has been all “about Tom” and now Luann’s ex-husband Tom D’Agostinois a main topic of conversation yet again during tonight’s episode. I cannot be the only one who misses the constant Tom chatter from seasons past. Or maybe, I am. I don’t care. Any episode that revolves around Luann and Tom in any capacity is something I’m looking forward to.
In the wake of Luann de Lesseps‘ trip to rehab, former (and present) stars of Real Housewives Of New York and other franchises are speaking out about the producers’ tactics to allegedly push alcohol on the women in an effort to solicit big drama. This accusation is nothing new, but the details are quite illuminating and provide an interesting testimony for the behind-the-scenes workings of the show.
Aviva, known for the infamous prosthetic leg toss on the finale of season 6, was part of the RHONYcast reboot after season 4 and appeared on the show for two seasons (“writer girl“). Kelly, obviously, is notorious for her feuds with Bethenny Frankel culminating in Scary Island. Both women, along with some current housewives who chose to remain anonymous, claim there is a vested interest to push booze on the cast – even if it’s clearly against their best interest.
You know what they say, “the costars that take photos together stay together.” Well, no one actually says that, but it does make some sense. A lot of your favorite reality TV stars spent some quality time with their castmates (and their fellow network celebs) this week. And of course, they documented it all on Instagram.
Carole starts off, “Bethenny came in hot, straight from telling her driver Kevin a bunch of nonsense. Imagine a friend texting ‘I miss you’ and sending cute pictures of the both of you only to get a ‘that’s a lot’ reply. To believe her story you’d have to believe I was the sh–tiest person on Earth. I may not be huggy, but I’m not sh–ty either. There is Bethenny’s version of events, and then there is reality.”
It was a night of joy and pain on the Real Housewives of New York, with the ladies visiting a prison boot camp, Luann de Lesseps returning from rehab, and Bethenny Frankel reuniting with long time enemy, Jill Zarin, after the tragic passing of her husband, Bobby. The laughs and tears were intense, and I’ll openly admit that I shared both as a viewer. In fact, I might have cried so hard my left contact popped out (theoretically…) because the tenderness in last night’s opening 12 minutes was truly a thing of beauty.
We begin on the day of Bobby’s funeral. Ramona Singer and Dorinda Medley are on the way there, with Ramona explaining that she visited Bobby as soon as she found out he was sick again. Dorinda feels like losing Bobby is a loss for the world; she loved him. When Bethenny heard from Sonja Morgan that Bobby had passed away, she chartered a private plane from Aspen to come be by Jill’s side. Nothing – not even a long-standing reality TV feud – could stand in the way of this moment.
It seems like (almost) every Housewife is turning on Bethenny Frankel this season on Real Housewives of New York. Most of the ladies have reached a breaking point and I don’t blame them. From the constant Skinnygirl promotion to the condescending comments, it seems like a lot to take on.
Then again, they are all paid to hang out, so I don’t feel that bad for anyone in this social circle. Plus, now we are blessed with some hilarious Bethenny-inspired shade from Dorinda Medley.
