Here at RT, our job is to snark on all things reality television, be it stars, shows, or just general gossip. I'm not going to lie…it can be a lot of fun, and usually the people, programs, and situations make it super easy to write (hopefully) hilarious blog posts. However, when one of us is fortunate enough to get to interview one of the reality stars we normally joke about, it's a wake-up call…in a good way!
Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Sheree Whitfield about what has been going on in her life now that she is no longer involved with Bravo. I'll be honest, I was a tad bit nervous. It's not every day you get to have a conversation with someone you watched religiously on TV, especially when part of your job is to spew humor at her expense. I'm from a city in South Carolina just two hours from Atlanta, and the ATL was a favorite stomping ground in college and remains a shopping mecca for people in my neck of the woods. That said, RHOA and its stars have always held a special place in my heart. I'll likely never eat at RHOBH'sLisa Vanderpump's SUR (sigh), but it's really cool to see the women of Atlanta dining and shopping places I've actually been. Of course, when I graced those restaurants and boutiques I ate a side salad and purchased nada.
Sorry for digressing, but I felt the need to share part of the reason why I was so excited to chat with Sheree. She couldn't have been more professional, kind, and gracious. Sheree dished on her new jewelry line, her plans for the future, her gratitude towards her fans, and her thoughts on RHOA.
"We're talking right now. We're filming season eight of the Housewives and it's something [Bravo]'s interested in," Tamradishes to Life & Style. "We haven't said yes or no yet, but we're definitely thinking about it." Yeah right… she's totally begging Bravo!
Tamra recently went wedding dress shopping and the segment was filmed for RHOC. They also filmed her bachelorette party weekend which included the entire cast save for Alexis Bellino.
We're sorry to interrupt your Friday with something so somber, but we just can't ignore what's happening over in Connecticut. We can't even attempt to wrap our minds around this horrific act of violence on innocent people.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those affected by today's tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. We also wanted you guys to have a place to talk and react as these unfathomable events continue to unfold.
The reality stars are Tweeting out their shock and sadness, too. We give them grief, but when things get "real", they are able to stop trying to nab the spotlight and pause to focus on what's REALLY important in the world.
Also, new information has come to light about the ______________ that left a giant question mark in the minds of viewers until the recent gossip started. Who knew it would ever be this juicy? I, for one, could never have imagined such an alleged cover-up, could you?
Earlier this week, Whitney and Weston were accused of smashing someone else's laptop and cell phone, arrested, and charged with criminal trespassing.
This is the second arrest this year for each of them.
In March, Whitney was arrested for stealing a pregnancy test from Walmart. Following the arrest, Whitney said, “Sometimes it takes hittin’ rockbottom.” In July, Weston was arrested and charged with felony possession of controlled substances, misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects, and DUI. Also, he may or may not have been charged with failing to stay awake for mugshot.
The X Factor just cannot seem to get it together. The latest dilemma to plague the show which has suffered from poor ratings and fan reaction as of late is that judge LA Reid is leaving and will not return for a third season.
LA is returning to his full-time gig at Sony. "I have the utmost respect for Simon Cowell," told The Hollywood Reporter. "He is the very best, and I have had the opportunity to learn so much from him. Working with him on X Factor has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'm honored to have sat on the panel with such incredible talent."
Apparently LA, who has been a part of the show since season one and has survived cast restructurings, would prefer to return to his roots.
