The network was reportedly hoping that viewer fascination with the Duggar brood and the popularity of eldest girls Jana, Jill and Jessa was enough to salvage the already controversial show, but the fallout from the discovery that Josh molested his sisters and other girls as a teen refused to die-down. In fact it seemed to be exacerbated by Josh’s wife Anna’s fourth pregnancy and the Duggar family’s refusal to really confront the situation honestly or to treat their daughters as victims.
Today the network finally announced that the Duggars would no longer be returning to TV. This morning a network representative informed the Associated Press that the Duggars “will no longer appear on the air.”
TLC announced this afternoon that it’s pulling all episodes of 19 Kids and Counting in the wake of the Josh Duggar molestation scandal. Mama June is probably a little sad she has to put that lawsuit on hold…possibly.
TLC isn’t exactly saying that they’re canceling the show, just that they’re pulling the episodes off the air. “Effective immediately, TLC has pulled all episodes of 19 Kids And Counting currently from the air. We are deeply saddened and troubled by this heartbreaking situation, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and victims at this difficult time.” They didn’t give any further info about the status of the show.
Former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star June Shannon (aka Mama June) is hopping mad at TLC this morning and she’s about to lawyer up. June is furious that the network hasn’t pulled the plug on 19 Kids and Counting now that Josh Duggar has admitted to molesting several young girls when he was a teenager, a few even allegedly his own sisters.
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are heading back to the TV screen next month when their reality series “19 Kids and Counting” returns for its 10th season this Tuesday on TLC.
Michelle and Jim Bob sat down with the Today show yesterday morning and right away the first question that everyone probably asks Michelle in an interview was asked…is she pregnant again? Her response: “Not that I know of. We would love to but we don’t today.”
