On DWTS, one of the stars, opera singer Katherine Jenkins, has been a fan favorite this season…which is phenomenal considering not a lot of people knew who she was when the contestants were announced. Admittedly, she’s adorable, endearing, and a heck of a dancer. However, when performing her second routine in the semi-finals, she made a mistake…or was she injured?
After her mishap, both she and partner Mark Ballas were tweeting–not about her misstep, but of the back injury that caused it. Katherine tweeted, “I’m with the Doctor, he says it was a reflectorical spasm in my lower back,” which was quickly followed by Mark telling fans, “Katherine hurt her back, I tried my best not let her fall at the end. Hope we still have ur votes.”
So, injury or cover-up for a mistake that could have cost them? Katherine is my frontrunner, and I don’t think she’s the type to not own her mistakes, so I think she has a back injury…and I hope she feels better soon!

The eighth season of The Bachelorette vows to be unlike any other. The famewhore making the decisions this season is Emily Maynard. America’s sweetheart, America’s famewhore, same difference. You probably remember Emily from Brad Womack’s second season. Brad’s the frequent-flyer bachelor who handed out roses in both seasons 11 and 15 of The Bachelor. His second attempt at true love ended with him proposing to Emily. Emily accepted Brad’s proposal, but her ridiculously high expectations and naiveté quickly wilted the relationship.
Emily is a single mom. And, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but she was engaged once before Brad. She was engaged to Ricky Hendrick, of NASCAR fame, in 2004. Sadly, on a rainy Sunday afternoon in October of the same year, Ricky boarded a plane sans an ill-feeling Emily. The plane crashed, leaving behind a pregnant Emily. Now, Emily is a single mom looking for true love on The Bachelorette. Even though it didn’t work for her the first time around, she “knows the series works.” Because, you know, that 17% success rate is a great testament of the true love that comes from appearing on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. I’m obviously grading on a curve, here. I’m including Trista Sutter, Jason Mesnick, by way of U-turn, Ashley Hebert, and Ben Flajnik, who is still collecting money on the deal.
Chris Harrison, oh blue-eyed, well-dressed, always there with stellar love advice, Chris Harrison. Call me. As I’m sure y’all know, I was very upset to hear about the divorce of the Bachelor franchise’s most level-headed and handsome host. Of course, instead of letting him deal with his family problems behind closed doors, People Magazine wonders if he himself will be the next Bachelor. Um, have you seen him? While he’s a beyond fabulous host of the train wreck, he’s way too good to be an actual contestant. For shame!
The very classy Mr. Harrison manages to remain upbeat, telling the magazine, “Getting out of a 22-year relationship, having just announced my divorce to the world a week ago, having two kids and trying to start a new life, I’m thinking I wouldn’t exactly be a great candidate to be the bachelor right now or anytime soon.”
With the Bachelorette premiering in less than a week, everyone (that may be a stretch), including me, is wondering what to expect from mild-mannered single mom Emily Maynard. She infamously turned down being the Bachelorette (much to Bentley Williams’ chagrin) after first being approached, explaining she wanted to live out of the limelight with young daughter Ricki. However, the rose veteran and former “winner” of Brad Womack’s (second) season, has since done a one-eighty, agreeing to let twenty-five cheesy eligible bachelors vie for her hand in marriage on the show’s eighth season.
Realitytvworld.com has the skinny on her latest print interview in the upcoming PEOPLE magazine. Emily talks of finding love, little Ricki, and those ever-present hot tub scenes the ABC franchise loves to exploit.
The newest Bachelorette tells the magazine, “I don’t want to be kissing every guy. I want to still be a lady. I’m a mom first,” adding, “I’m hoping the hot tubs have been completely phased out.”
Emily also doesn’t want date time to ever interfere with daughter time. While Ricki has been traveling with mom throughout the season, she has spent a lot of time hanging out with her grandparents and a nanny, and, according to Emily, loving every minute of it. Emily reveals, “[The show] has been so good at making sure there’s time scheduled for the two of us.”
Yesterday a class action lawsuit was filed against ABC andThe Bachelor by Nathaniel Claybrooks and Christopher Johnson, two Africa-American men who claim they were discriminated against at a recent Bachelor casting event. A photo of the two men is above.
“This is a case about equal opportunity,” said Cyrus Mehri, who is one of the lawyers representing the plaintiffs. “It’s about putting everyone on equal footing. We’re not saying that these two men should definitely have been selected. This is saying that they should have been given the same level of consideration as white applicants.” According to the LA Times, both men say, upon their arrival at a 2011 casting call they were treated with disrespect and largely ignored while white counterparts were treated completely differently.
Nathaniel Claybrooks, a small business owner, alleges his on-camera interview was much shorter than the ones given to white applicants and he was not given the same opportunities. Christopher Johnson says after handing in his application, he was unable to proceed past the lobby into the main interview room while white applicants were ushered right through by casting officials.
Both men claim rejection has nothing to do with their suit, but an effort to change the process and bring awareness to blatant discrimination. It’s worth adding that in fifteen seasons of The Bachelor, there has never been a bachelor of a different ethnic background. Nor has there been a Bachelorette of a different ethnicity. Now I’m not saying that’s intentional on the show’s part, but it is worth investigating. Show creator Mike Fleiss joked about this in an interview, saying former Bachelorette Ashely Hebert may have been 1/16th Cherokee.
The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages. “But basically, this is about the need for reform,” their lawyer explains. ABC declined to comment on the recent suit.
Discussing the suit are two former Bachelor contestants. “It is clearly not right that after 10 years of successive seasons there hasn’t been a black Bachelor or Bachelorette, especially when we have a black president,” Matt Grant, star of The Bachelor, Season 12 told RadarOnline.
“As one of the longest running reality shows on TV, The Bachelor is a national brand, a part of American pop culture and part of the make-up of the country,” Matt continued “It should definitely be more racially diverse because it is not reflecting the demographic of the nation right now.” Matt adds that during his season, London Calling, there was only one African-American woman competing to be his wife – and he claims he brought up the lack of diversity with producers!
“While I don’t think any of the producers are inherently racist,” he added, “I just think that mistakes are being made.” Matt believes the contestants are merely chosen to reflect the primary viewership. “The real reason for it I think is because most of the viewers are from the middle of the country and are predominantly white. Which leads to the moral question, ‘Should The Bachelor cast reflect the viewing demographic or the real national demographic?’” This Matt is pretty smart isn’t he? He needed television to find a wife?
“If you have more black people involved in the show then maybe more black people would watch,” said Matt added.
Also speaking out, is former Bachelor and Bachelor Padnut contestant, Elizabeth Kitt. “The cast was predominantly white,” she tells RadarOnline. “I didn’t hear any racist slurs during filming so to say the show is racist is going too far, if you throw that out there too many times it is the boy who cried wolf.”
Elizabeth seems to think the lawsuit is baseless and believes it’s simply a case of more white people applying to be on the show, a sentiment Mike Fleiss has also echoed. “I’m a little annoyed by the lawsuit, if you want to be on the show – then apply!”

DO THE PLAINTIFFS HAVE A POINT? IS THE BACHELOR INTENTIONALLY CASTING WHITE CONTESTANTS OR IS IT MERELY A COINCIDENCE? DOES THE BACHELOR NEED TO DIVERSIFY?
It seems the most homogeneous dating pool in America will soon get a wake-up call! Shortly after Lamar Hurdstarted a campaign to become the first black Bachelor in the franchise history, two other African-American men have decided to file a class action lawsuit against the show for discrimination!
According to TMZ, the two plaintiffs attended a casting call in a Nashville Hotel to audition to be the next Bachelor. Christopher Johnson, one of those men—who also happens to be an aspiring NFL player—claims when he arrived the producers asked him why he was there.
Apparently, that’s when the discrimination began. Christopher and another African-American applicant, Nathaniel Claybrooks, claim they were then taken to the side of the room and excluded from the normal audition process. Neither man received a call back and both believe it is because of their race!
In response, they have filed a class action lawsuit today in federal court against ABC, Warner Horizon Television, Next Entertainment, NZK Productions and creator Mike Fleiss. More details will be coming this afternoon and Reality Tea will keep you posted on the developments.
In other news, Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson continue their campaign to convince people they are in love. Hey, getting married following The Bachelor comes with a hefty reward – lifetime infamy! And likely some monetary pay-offs as well.
According to HollywoodLife, the couple is madly in love and will be walking down the aisle sooner than we think! “Courtney and Ben are getting married! They have totally rekindled their feelings for each other on an even deeper level,” Courtney’s friend reveals. “The drama that happened after the show actually brought them closer together and they both realized that they didn’t want to lose each other. Courtney has even been looking at wedding dresses.”
Indeed, the two were spotted at Mark Zunino’s recent wedding dress fashion show – which of course totally proves this wedding is happening, like tomorrow, and not that the couple is pretending to be in love for fame and publicity as some reports have claimed.
“They sat in the front row and were holding hands the entire time,” Courtney a friend reveals to HollywoodLife. “They looked really happy and very much in love. During the show, Ben played with Courtney’s hair and she was giggling and pointing to the different wedding dresses.” Apparently, when and if she weds, Courtney will be sporting a Mark Zunino gown. Ok, then.
And finally, with Emily Maynard‘s season of The Bachelorette premiering next month, ABC has released the first glimpse of her portrait. PEOPLE got the exclusive. Emily looks stunning, of course, and is obviously holding a bunch of roses! The portrait is below!
The Bachelorette premieres May 14th at 8:30/9:30 EST on ABC.

Emily Maynard‘s upcoming season of The Bachelorette is in full-swing. The beautiful, blonde sweetheart was spotted filming her dates all over her hometown of Charlotte, NC and spoilers are popping out everywhere about Emily’s guys. This week ABC headed to Toronto to start the first leg of the international dates and apparently things are going well for one of the most beloved Bachlorettes ever!
Despite Emily’s sweet demeanor, host Chris Harrison wants the world to know she’s not always Miss Nicey-Nice! “She’s a pistol,” Chris warnedKelly Ripa on Live with Kelly “She’s sweet until she’s not!” Emily is also, apparently, “Perfect on a stick!” Whatever that means. Well, thanks for the update Chris and here’s hoping Emily keeps any rogue bachelors in line!
Moving on, rumors are swirling thatThe Bachelor is finally ready to introduce some diversity into its dating pool. Finally. According to Entertainment Weekly, Portland-based sportscaster and philanthropist Lamar Hurd could be on his way to becoming the show’s first African-American Bachelor! Can I just say it again – it’s about freaking time!
The 28-year-old former Oregon State basketball player interviewed with ABC about potentially signing onto the show as The Bachelor. Lamar’s assistant initially convinced him to submit a video to Bachelor casting directors and he was surprised when it garnered the attention of producers.
Show creator Mike Fleiss admitted last year that the show badly needed to diversify. “We always want to cast for ethnic diversity, it’s just that for whatever reason, they don’t come forward. I wish they would,” he explained.
Lamar, who is also divorced, is excited about the possibility of joining the show and has started a Twitter (@1stBlkBachelor) campaign to keep fans updated. “Let’s say I wanted to go on it, and was willing to do it, they haven’t even had a black Bachelor,” he said of joining the show.
And Lamar’s philosophy on love is simple: “It doesn’t matter what we’re doing, it’s who I’m doing it with. So if it’s someone that I’m in love with then we’re going to have a good time.” A video of Lamar talking about the show and a photo are below!

I think it’s fair to say that Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson‘s real world relationship has gotten off to a rough start. First, he admitted to dumping her after she was a royal twat to all the other women in the house, including making threatening comments about fellow contestant Emily O’Brien. Then, she has been begging the public to forgive her on national TV – and sadly it doesn’t seem to be working! And, he’s been accused of cheating after being caught on film kissing other women.
Instead of throwing in the towel, Ben and Courtney are making a concerted effort to make it work because their ABC contract demands it, but before we get to all that, Ben has possibly been caught, yet again, with another mystery woman. Good God, man – keep it in your pants!
Life & Style caught the terribly coiffed Bachelor joining a Courtney look-a-like for an alcohol-soaked picnic at San Francisco’s Tipsy Pig this past Sunday on March 11. Even more damning, in the photos below, the brunette was seen straddling a topless Ben and giving him a massage. Now, is that really the behavior of an engaged man? Not in the least! PHOTOS of Ben and the mystery woman are below!
“It seemed like they were close,” an eyewitness describes. And there was a whole lotta boozing going on! “They were drinking at the restaurant and at the park.” Ben was also caught hanging out with a different woman the night before! “Ben lit up when he saw a blonde woman he knew in the restaurant. He got up from his seat at the table and greeted her with a quick peck on the lips. He insisted she sit down at his table,” a bystander reports. “He had his arm around her hugging her. They both seemed happy and really into the conversation.”
Later that same evening, Ben was seen hopping into a cab with yet a different woman. A source claims they were just sharing a ride and he dropped her off at her place before heading home. A likely story…
How is Courtney handling all the news of her fiancé’s womanizing? She allegedly doesn’t care! And furthermore, all her televised apologizing and crying was a ruse! “Courtney’s tears are all bulls—. She wants to get everything she can out of this,” the insider claims. “And don’t feel bad for Ben either,” the insider insists. “His winery is doing well, so it’s a win-win for both of them.”
“They’re going to milk it as long as they can,” the insider adds.
And indeed that appears to be the case. In a new inteview for PEOPLE magazine, Ben talks his decision to rekindle things with Courtney and give her another chance, despite her catty behavior and idiosyncrasies. Ben hopes “people will get a better understanding of who we are and why we’re still together.”
So what does Ben see in Little Miss Crazy? Apparently, she continually questioned him! “She was one of the only girls on the show that questioned the experience and that’s what I found attractive about her – and I still do. Courtney was always like, ‘I’ve only been on two dates with you, why should I bring you home? My family is really important to me,'” Ben reveals.
“It was like finally, someone who asks the right questions instead of [saying], ‘My family is going to love you and it’s going to be wonderful and we could be married for the rest of our lives.’ ” Yep, Courtney came right out questioning the asinine Bachelor ways, despite signing on to appear with the so-called intentions of meeting her future husband.
As for how Ben anticipates things going in the future, he is confident! “Maybe someday people will get behind us, but for now we work really well together,” he explains. “The Bachelor will not define me as a person. This will be a blip in a few years.” Well, at least that’s a pragmatic approach!
It seems Courtney is in agreement, and according to Wetpaint she is planning to move to San Francisco. “That’s definitely happening, although it’s not something they’re going to do overnight,” an insider explains of their planned living arrangements.
“For now, Courtney will start spending weekends up there getting familiar with Ben’s life and his friends. And Ben’s going to make trips down to LA to do the same thing — meet Courtney’s friends and spend time with them.” I have a feeling Courtney is not going to like most of Ben’s friends as they seem to be mostly women – which we know she has difficulty with!
“They will start looking for a place to live together in Northern California. That’s where his business is and where his whole life is. Courtney’s looking forward to the move. They truly care about each other and they’re excited about this next chapter.”
The insider adds that Ben and Courtney aren’t interested in doing a big media tour either. Which sounds doubtful to me, given Ben just admitted neither one of them joined the show for love. “They have a few media obligations to fulfill as part of their contracts, like the cover of People magazine, which comes out this week, “ the insider asserts. “But other than those few commitments, they’re not interested in a big press tour. They’re just looking forward to spending some quality alone time with each other.”
Perhaps, this is the case of two skeptical people who just happened to fall in love on television and now want to be happy together, but frankly I don’t believe it!
