Alex McCord

A new episode of the Real Housewives of New York City aired last night and you know something is majorly off when Kelly Bensimon appears to be the lone sane one on the show. The episode brought us a classless Countess, a paranoid Jill, and an equality march that went totally off course with Sonja working overtime to hijack it and equality police Alex working even harder to prevent the said hijacking. Ultimately, Alex became the new Bethenny with most of her fellow housewives ganging up on her.

The episode begins with the ladies meeting up at Sonja‘s home to get ready for the marriage equality march. The “gay icon” – her words – has been asked to be the grand marshal for the event. Sonja, who might or might not have gone to the Nene Leakes school of overblown egos following a season on Bravo, thanks the ladies for coming to support her on her “special day.” Alex is taken aback, rightfully so, and channels her inner RHOM’s Adriana by making it clear she is on the committee! And low and behold, Kelly is the voice of reason when she states in her interview, “So is it Sonja’s day or Alex’s day? I’m not sure but I was marching for marriage equality.” And I’m still not sure how I feel about a medicated and sensible Kelly.

They’re baaaack! Agaaaain!

After getting bumped two months ago in favor of the Miami housewives, the Real Housewives of New York City return tonight on Bravo at 10/9c.

On the season 4 premiere titled “Grin and Bare It,” Ramona hosts a rooftop cocktail party while elsewhere, tension continues to brew between Jill and Alex; and the ladies gear up to participate in a gay-equality march. Single mother and spa entrepreneur Cindy Barshop joins the cast. A preview clip is below.

Watch What Happens Live – The guests tonight will be Ramona Singer and Jill Zarin!

In other news, following a major slight fall from grace last season with her actions both on and off the show, Jill Zarin reveals the reason she decided to return for another season.

But first Jill states she felt she was ganged up on last year. “I was ganged up on by Alex, Bethenny and Ramona,” Jill tells the NYDailyNews. “It’s so last year and it’s so over that I don’t want to talk about it anymore. … But let me tell you, it’s hard to fight three against one. One on one is one thing. Three on one, not so even.”

So why did she return? “I asked my husband, Bobby, ‘What should I do?’ And he said, ‘Don’t leave,’ ” she says. “My family felt that I wasn’t portrayed accurately, that I needed to come back, to have another round at it. Then, if I want to leave, I leave with my head held high.” Aka ‘I’m going to spend this entire season pretending to be nice and trying to redeem my image.’

Meanwhile, the NYC ladies visited The View talk show this week during which both Jill and her BFF Kelly Bensimon tried to insinuate the show isn’t real, well at least last season, with Kelly also trying to convince us she isn’t really crazy.

First Jill insinuated Bethenny Frankel played up their fight for the cameras last season. “You wanna know what the truth is? The truth is I thought it was a wink-wink. We had a fight, I thought it was sort of drama for the show and that we would make up,” said Jill.

And when host Sherri Shepherd asked Kelly about being crazy and that whole Scary Island meltdown, Kelly denied being mentally unstable. “I didn’t fall apart. It’s hard to be portrayed as crazy and it’s hard to come back from that,” said Kelly. “Sorry you guys I didn’t fall apart. I know it’s hard for everyone to understand that … I make great television and Bethenny and I create better television. So, I mean, that’s what it is,” added Kelly as we try to figure out what planet these people are living on.

They’re baaack!… Again!

Bravo just announced moments ago that the Real Housewives of New York City will return for their 4th season on Thursday, April 7, at 10/9c.

This follows the previous snafu that occurred last month during which Bravo decided to postpone the show 2 weeks before it’s scheduled Feb. 15th premiere in favor of the lackluster Real Housewives of Miami.

The NYC Housewives have all teased that Bravo postponed the season due to too much drama and needing more time to edit the show, which was still filming two weeks before it was meant to debut. And judging from the trailer below, they might have been right.

Bravo promises “the new season will definitely be worth the wait.”

The new season trailer is below –

TELL US – ARE YOU STILL EXCITED FOR THE NEW SEASON? THOUGHTS ON THE NEW TRAILER?

It’s now been two weeks since Bravo made the surprising announcement to postpone the Real Housewives of New York City season 4, which was originally scheduled to debut tomorrow Feb. 15, and the NYC Housewives are still defending the show.

The latest cast member to speak out is Ramona Singer, who tells E! News there is “no truth” to the reports that reveal the show was pushed back and is being overhauled due to a lack of drama.

“How could it be boring? Am I boring? I could never be. It really is everyone’s scheduling. Everyone has different schedules and things going on and we are working on it,” she said.

Ramona then went on to add that Bethenny Frankel’s absence will actually make the show better. “Oh my gosh, this is the best season ever, because there’s no evil drama,” she says. “People ask will the show be good without Bethenny on it, but I think the show will be better because she made it too dark. She and [BFF-turned-nemesis] Jill [Zarin] made it too dark with the fighting.”

Ramona once again reiterates that this upcoming season is the best one yet. “I’m telling you, I know, I filmed it,” she says. “This is the best season yet. We’re in Morocco and it’s better than Sex and the City.”

And in a separate interview with E! News, Alex McCord also echoes Ramona’s sentiments by stating this season is filled with drama and many fights.

“Oh, it’s not one epic fight, it is 100 fights,” Alex told E!. “We’re comfortable enough with each other now that it’s no holds barred. I did not know Cindy before. You’ll have to see what happens with her and everyone.” Alex adds that one incident reaches such madness that “you can’t make up what happens.”

E! also interviewed Bravo exec Andy Cohen who states the network simply needed more time to edit the season. “It’s great, it’s an amazing season, we just wrapped three weeks ago, we really wanted to get it perfect and we had Miami sitting on the shelf,” he told E! News. “It’s great, we all love it. Bethenny and Jill had their own drama. What’s interesting about the premiere is the dust is still settling on that feud so it’s interesting to see how these women are picking it back up.”

And finally, below is an old school photo of Kyle Richards and Bethenny Frankel. Kyle tweeted the photo which was taken back in 1993. If you recall, Bethenny and Kyle go way back as Bethenny was the chauffeur to Kyle’s nieces Nicky and Paris Hilton.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE STORY? DO YOU THINK THE BETHENNY & JILL DRAMA MADE THE SHOW TOO DARK?

A day after the shocking news by Bravo, stating they were postponing the Real Housewives of New York City in favor of the Real Housewives of Miami two weeks before its premiere date, many are now wondering what the real reason is.

As we pointed out yesterday, Popeater reported back in December that Bravo higher ups were not happy with the way the 4th season was going after viewing the footage. Things were apparently so bad that Bravo asked Bethenny Frankel to return to the show for many appearances, something she wanted no part of.

Fast forward to today and the NY Post as well as the NYDailyNews are both reporting Bravo pulled the plug on the Feb. 15 premiere because they thought it was too boring.

According to the Post, the producers decided to cancel the original premiere because “it lacked the explosive catfight-filled drama expected of” other Bravo housewives series. In fact, Andy Cohen emailed the entire cast of the show early yesterday informing them of the news.

“We decided yesterday that our best bet was to give ourselves a little breathing room,” Andy wrote. “I would rather get the show right than rush it to air.” Andy also warned the cast not to tweet about it until Bravo made the official announcement.

Sources tell the Post that following good ratings for its drama-filled Beverly Hills counterpart, the producers simply felt the New York show didn’t have enough drama to satisfy viewers. “They wanted the ladies to fight like cats and dogs, but they got along,” said a source. “[But] they are now freaking out that they’ll get fired for being boring and replaced by more fiery women.”

The NYDailyNews also confirms the Post’s story adding the cast was informed of the change just hours before it became public news. Bravo also reportedly received negative feedback following the sneak peeks they aired this week during the RHOBH. The final reason for the change? Bravo “thinks ‘Miami’ is more like ‘Beverly Hills‘” and bets fans of the latter, which just ended its season, will “piggyback” onto “Miami.”

The cast of the show are however giving a different reason for the sudden cancellation. Both Simon van Kempen and Alex McCord tweeted yesterday that Bravo simply needed more time to finish the editing considering they were still filming just a week ago.

In an interview with Star magazine, Sonja Morgan gives the same reason. “I think they feel like they have such good stuff, they don’t want to waste it. They want to make sure it’s done properly. Personally, I’m relieved. It gives me more time to relax, especially considering Ramona [Singer] and I were shooting seven times a week. They’ll have Miami go out first and when they’re done, we’re up.”

Sonja added, “they need some more time to edit. We’ve filmed like crazy, more than ever, and we’re seven ladies so they have a lot of footage to go through.” Safe to assume they “filmed like crazy” because Bravo wasn’t happy with the footage they saw more than halfway through filming.

As for Bravo, Andy released this official statement – “No conspiracy here, folks. We have an embarrassment of riches with Miami and New York, and I assure you that ‘the Real Housewives of NYC’ will be well worth the wait.” The new season is now slated to air in April or May.

It seems Simon van Kempen, who has been described as being a honorary housewife on the Real Housewives of New York City, is finally getting his own spinoff show! Albeit a web show.

According to Popeater, Bravo has given Simon, husband of Alex McCord, his own spinoff webcast which will focus more on his everyday life away from the drama that is ‘Housewives.’  But fret not as Simon will continue to appear on the NYC Housewives.

“I’m delighted to get a mini spinoff from ‘Housewives’ and so glad I didn’t have to get pregnant or married to do so!” Simon tells Popeater referencing Bethenny Frankel. “Seriously, Alex, the boys and I have a lot of fun living in Brooklyn, and these webisodes give viewers a chance to see all four of us away from the drama of ‘Housewives.'”

So what can we expect from Simon’s web show? Simon promises that fans will get to see him “shopping, cooking, accidentally injuring myself and attempting to overcome one of life’s toughest afflictions.”

The new yet to be titled spinoff is slated to air during the new season of the Real Housewives of New York, which debuts February 15 on Bravo.

It seems Luann de Lesseps and cast-mate Ramona Singer have now made up following what Ramona calls an “accidental” re-tweet she made last week which showed the Countess’s 16-year-old daughter Victoria de Lesseps rolling up a joint and using the N-word in a youtube video.

In the above photo, tweeted by Alex McCord this week, you can see the Real Housewives of New York City stars looking rather chummy as they all headed out to lunch in Los Angeles paparazzi capital aka The Ivy restaurant.

The NY ladies are currently in LA to promote the upcoming 4th season of their Bravo show. “Luann and I may have our differences but we all respect each other,” Ramona told Radar on Wednesday. “We do get along and in fact we are having lunch together today.”

RadarOnline reported earlier this week that things had gotten so bad between Ramona and LuAnn that the two ladies refused to speak to each other or even be anywhere in the physical vicinity of one another.

“Ramona and Luann have both insisted to producers that they expressly be kept away from each other throughout the trip,” a source close to the situation told Radar. “To say they loathe each other would be an understatement!”

The source also added the two requested to “be put on totally separate flights and in addition they have requested that they are not even placed on the same floor of the hotel in LA.”

In other NYC news, Sonja Morgan hosted a ‘Show Me Your Best Burlesque’ party days ago.  The theme of the party was “Fishnets, Feathers and Flesh,” and in attendance were some of her fellow NYC Housewives.  Photos of Alex, Kelly, Ramona, Sonja and new housewife Cindy Barshop at the event below.  Also below are photos of the NYC Housewives doing press in LA. Judging by the pics, it’s pretty obvious how the cliques aligned this season.

Almost a week after a classless youtube video of her 16-year-old daughter made it’s way online (the video has since been removed from Youtube), Countess LuAnn de Lesseps is finally breaking her silence and denouncing her daughter Victoria de Lesseps’ actions, which included rolling up a joint and using the N-word.

In a statement given to Popeater, the Real Housewives of New York City star calls her daughter’s actions “unacceptable” and promises to use this setback to teach her about the consequences of said actions.

“I am the parent of a teenager, and as any parent can attest, teenagers go through periods of doing things that are wrong and not appropriate and that are later regretted,” said LuAnn. “My daughter Victoria knows that the behavior she exhibited was unacceptable. I have chosen to deal with this as a private family matter and an opportunity to discuss consequences of our actions.”

If you recall, LuAnn’s costar Ramona Singer re-tweeted the video after a fan tweeted it to her. Ramona then took down the tweet almost immediately. And now, Ramona is once again apologizing for her actions in a brief interview with Popeater’s Rob Shuter calling the re-tweeting “accidental.”

“I’m not very tech savvy, and [I’m] heartbroken that I accidentally retweeted this. I called Luann and Victoria immediately to apologize and tell them to remove the video. Regardless of our catfights on the show, our children are off-limits,” stated Ramona.

Alex McCord and hubby Simon Van Kempen however seemed to have a different take on things as they feel LuAnn should be more forgiving towards Ramona based on her own past actions.

“None of us are perfect, and sometimes we all tweet or retweet a little too hastily,” Simon said. “But it would be a little duplicitous for LuAnn to complain too much about Ramona’s regretful retweet when both she and Jill Zarin had great fun lambasting our oldest son throughout the third season.”

Alex added, “In the four years we’ve been involved with ‘Real Housewives,’ neither Simon nor I have ever said anything negative about any other castmates’ children. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for many others on the show.”

And finally, while LuAnn wants to deal with this issue privately and understandably so, Rob does report that Bravo cameras were on hand a few days ago to film an event during which Ramona, Alex and others discussed the issue. Which raises an important question – Is it fair for LuAnn to not want this issue discussed on camera?

One side of the argument is that LuAnn signed up for the show and to put her life on television, good or bad. Plus the issue is already public knowledge and involves a costar. Another side of the argument is that though LuAnn signed up to do the show, her daughter did not and should not have her dirty laundry aired on TV. Which brings us to the question…
