The theme of Thursday night’s episode of the Real Housewives of New York City seemed to be “Woe Is Me” by Jill Zarin. Not since Vicki Gunvalson of the OC Housewives have I seen someone play the victim role so effortlessly. The more I think about it, the more I see the similarities between Jill and Vicki. They both make everything about them, and they are always the victims.
We start out this episode with the charity event planned by Countess LuAnn. The point of the oxy-moronic event is to donate coutoure dresses to the homeless (scratching head on this one). Jill’s underdog feels the need to scold Alex, and try to guilt her into apologizing to her new BFF Jill. LuAnn makes an interesting comment saying Alex shouldn’t take sides. Interesting because it seems rather obvious LuAnn has picked a side. And then Jill arrives, and the underdog informs her she has told Alex she “has to fix” things with her or else!
Jill makes a point to not talk to Alex, after all, she did vow last week to forget but never forgive! Jill’s husband, Bobby, attempting to talk to Alex was sort of sweet, but unfortunately he didn’t know the whole story. It’s however understandable for a husband to want to smooth thiings over for his wife. As I was watching this episode, it dawned on me that the issue with Jill wasn’t so much Alex’s delivery but the actual message. It finally dawned on her now that Bethenny’s DONE with her, so she decided to kill the messenger – Alex. Yes Alex was wrong in her delivery, but Jill’s continued reaction is over the top.
And then Ramona decides to scold Alex for the “bad timing” of delivering her message. This coming from the woman who decided Jill’s Kodak event was the right time and place to inform her of the company’s shortcomings. Perhaps Ramona needs to crawl back into her glass house and shut her mouth.
They say when it rains it pours, and unfortunately or fortunately forJill Zarin, depending on who you ask, it’s been one rain storm after the next.
The latest with the Real Housewives of New York City star is a new story by thedirty website which claims Jill pays someone $25 an hour. For what you might ask? Well according to the story, the person’s sole job is to monitor and delete all negative comments made on Jill’s facebook page. And It doesn’t end there, as anyone who makes a negative comment on her page also gets blocked. According to the blog owner, Nik Richie, he got blocked for leaving a negative comment on her page.
Moving on to Jill’s costar, Alex McCord, who refers to Jill as a master manipulator in a new interview with TVGuide. Alex also explains why she had so much built up anger towards Jill. “Jill has taken every opportunity over the last three years to belittle my husband, my children and sometimes me. I really don’t care about what she says about me, but I care about what she says about my family. It’s just unacceptable, and I couldn’t let it continue,” Alex tells TVGuide. “By ignoring her, she began to think everything was OK, and she could go ahead and continue to make fun of the kids or get LuAnn to make fun of the kids … she’s a master manipulator.”
Alex explains why she snapped: “Jill called me pumping me for gossip. She did not care about Bethenny. She did not care about the pregnancy. She cared about the gossip. It really made me see red,” Alex says. “And when Bethenny told me she had been calling the press on her behalf, I snapped a little bit.”
Which brings us to tonight’s episode where we get to see an even bigger blow up between Jill and Alex. Also coming up tonight, the ladies join LuAnn for a relaxing spa and yoga day, during which they all open up to each other and divulge on the hardships of their past divorces. Meanwhile, Jill’s party planner and new housewife Jennifer Gilbert invites the ‘wives over for a cocktail party to get to know her better, but the night turns sour when Ramona brings the tragic news that Bethenny’s father has suddenly passed away and Jill gets upset that Ramona didn’t fill her in earlier.
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS THIS STORY? ON THE NEW EPISODE?
“I wish I could say I can see them being friends again, but I don’t think it’s going to happen,” says messengerAlex McCord, who explains that the falling out was much worse than what we’ve been seeing on the show. “Sometimes you find things out about people that you didn’t believe and glossed over,” shares Alex. “You get to a point where you just can’t do it anymore and it blows up in your face. There’s so much going on between Jill and Bethenny. You don’t see 80 percent of it on camera.”
Interesting point of view by Alex. Also joining in the Bethenny vs Jill conversation is Jill’s new underdog BFF Countess LuAnn: “I think there’s a certain sadness to the whole situation,” she said. “I don’t know if they’ll ever be BFFs again, but I think they will be cordial to each other.”
When asked about the criticism being thrown her way regarding her new song, ‘Money Can’t Buy You Class‘ (which I unfortunately found myself humming this morning as I tried to find something), LuAnn reveals she has a tough skin. “Darling, I’m a brave adventurous soul,” she says. “That’s why I’m doing a reality show…I just hope people kind of tip their hat to me for doing it.”
LuAnn also shares that her new boyfriend, French wine distributor Jacques Azoulay, is a fan of her ‘music.’ “He thinks it’s great,” LuAnn says. “He’s very proud of me for getting out there and flying by the seat of my pants.”
TELL US – DO YOU THINK JILL AND BETHENNY COULD EVER BE FRIENDS AGAIN?
It doesn’t end there however, according to a new report by theDailyBeast, Jill asked one of their reporters to leave her a good review after hearing the reporter liked her book. According to the reporter, she declined Jill’s offer, but Jill had another idea. “Can you go under an assumed name?” Jill asked.
The reporter declined again but the relentless Jill would not drop it. “I don’t know, you could just say you loved the book,” Jill said, “Anonymous. Is that so bad?” The reporter declined for a third time during which Jill told her she could just have her boyfriend do it instead. Aah, that crafty Jill!
Unfortunately for Jill, the good reviews she has left for her book simply can’t compete with the pile of negative reviews the book continues to receive. A quick visit to amazon shows Jill’s book has an astonishing 115 negative reviews compared to Alex McCord and hubby Simon Van Kempen’sbook, which has only received 1 negative review to date. But this is where the new scandal comes in. See the one negative review for Silex’s book was made on April 29th, the same day the husband and wife duo appeared on Bravo’s ‘Watch What Happens’ and made fun of Jill for reviewing her own book.
A lot of people are now suspecting that the person who gave Alex and Simon their lone negative review was none other than Jill Zarin herself, or someone close to her. Why you might ask? Well, a quick look at the reviewer, J. Samples’, shows them leaving only a total of 4 reviews – a negative review for Silex’s book, a negative review for one of Bethenny Frankel’s books, and a positive review for Countess LuAnn’snew sucky song. When you read the negative reviews left by J. Samples, it becomes very obvious they did not read Alex & Simon’s or Bethenny’s books.
Now unlike the previous review scandal, there’s no proof that this J. Samples account belongs to Jill. For all we know it could be a crazed Jill fan. However based on Jill’s previous actions, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if she was the one behind this all.
UPDATE: It seems the negative comment for Silex’s book has been removed, either by Amazon or J. Samples. Either way, the negative comment is below –
“I had thought I had seen everything. But to see these two clowns write a book about parenting is hysterical! Their cast mate Bethanny Frankel once said of them and I quote “These two would climb through a vent to get into a good party!” Well, it seems that they followed Ms. Frankel through a vent and crawled their way into a publishing house! How else could this have gotten published? Let’s review. Their kids are animals, appear dumb and disoriented, lack manners and are unkempt. They have also been seen on their television show, tearing apart a party at a lovely eatery and climbing up and biting the Countess Luann’s leg! And I am suppose to listen to anything these “parents” have to say?? As for these parents, they are strange, sexual deviants, and are broke. They are self claimed to have met on CRAIGSLIST for a SEXUAL encounter! They reside in Crooklyn, New York, in a townhouse that could be used for an S&M movie. Gay husband included! Scary stuff. I honestly hated this book. Chapter 6 was worthless and the parts that say they are “lessons” are a joke. The writing is poor and the book itself is poorly edited. Very little worthwhile material. Don’t open the cover folks, Johan might pop out and bite you too!!!”
UPDATE #2 – Another look at “J.Sanders” reviews shows a positive review was left for Jill Zarin’s book.

As this season of theReal Housewives of New York City moves along, it becomes more and more obvious that Jill Zarin is the “source” who leaked this story and this story to the press. The first story is the infamous Bethenny is friendless story and the second one is the story that came out earlier this year about Alex and Simon possibly being cut from the show.
Moving right along to this week’s recap –
Bethenny – I blogged about her pregnancy leak last year and thought it was very wrong for Perez Hilton to leak the story, especially considering her age amongst other factors. I mean the woman was only 8 weeks pregnant for goodness sakes. Her reaction and Jason’s reaction seemed genuine and understandable. And a lot of people are now asking how could this have leaked to Perez? Well for one, there are usually 6 – 10 production people involved in the filming of each scene for the show, and considering Bethenny filmed her pregnancy test just weeks earlier, the possibilities of the leak are endless. Plus in Perez’s story, he claimed Bethenny was in talks with UsWeekly magazine to announce her pregnancy with them at the three month mark. My guess is someone from UsWeekly leaked that info to Perez. But I loved Jason in this episode, he seems like a stand up man, and perfect for Bethenny.
Next we see LuAnn, Sonja and Jill engage in a conversation about Bethenny and party planning, during which Jill informs us she has a google alert on herself. For some reason, I am not surprised. By the way google alerts is something that alerts you whenever a story is written about someone, a show etc. Jill, the gossip queen that she is, seems more concerned about the gossip factor than the actual news about Bethenny’s pregnancy. And you have to love her dig about LuAnn’s evite invitations not being up to par. LuAnn also informs us that Bethenny blocked her from twitter, which is a bit petty in my opinion for Bethenny to do that, if she did. Was a bit surprised about this as it doesn’t seem like Bethenny’s M.O.
We then get a brief view of new housewife Jennifer Gilbert during a meeting with Jill, and umm yeah, with Jill doing most of the talking, we will have to wait until the next episode to learn anything about Jennifer. Sonja is starting to grow on me, she seemed a bit more interesting in this episode, as she showed us there’s more to her than just talking about sex. Taking Ramona along with her to the plastic surgeon’s office was probably not necessary and just done for good tv. Her scene with her physic during ,which she got emotional when talking about her former marriage, was a however good scene. Great to see another dimension to her.
And then we have the phone call between Alex and Bethenny, during which Bethenny confirms her pregnancy news. And Bethenny informs Alex that Jill sent her an email on how to handle the rumor. Just like Jill, to want to involve herself in the “scandal” as a means to get press/publicity for herself. Anyone remember last summer when Jill started hanging out with Jon Gosselin and Michael Lohan, and even began speaking to the press on behalf of Jon? Enough said. Bethenny was fortunately able to see through Jill’s very transparent colors.
Bethenny then makes the error of casually informing Alex that she could tell Jill she’s done with the friendship if she sees Jill talking about the pregnancy news. Alex, who ofcourse has a score to settle with Jill couldn’t be happier to deliver the message. We then get to Ramona’s event with Jill, Kelly, and LuAnn in attendance. Jill informs us she plans on taking the high road, and will not ruin Ramona’s event like Ramona did her Kodak event. Seconds after saying this, we see Jill saying there’s no need for any more skin care lines in the world and then proceeds to trash the food at the event. Oh yeah, did I mention Ramona’s event was to promote her new skin care line? Nice to see Jill being the “bigger person” on this one.
In tonight’s episode, Bethenny Frankel’s pregnancy is leaked all across the internet thanks to blogger Perez Hilton, and she is forced to confront her fiancé ,Jason Hoppy, with the news. We get to see the reaction of a press-shy Jason, as well as the reaction of the other housewives. A video preview of this is below.
On the other side of town, we get some more new blood this week whenJennifer Gilbert makes her debut as a part of the group. Meanwhile, when Sonja enlists Ramona to accompany her to a plastic surgeon consultation, the ever appropriate Ramona does not hold back in grilling the doctor about his credibility. And finally tonight, we get to see the big confrontation between Jill and Alex.
Below is the preview of Bethenny telling her fiance about her pregnancy leak –
TELL US: WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE PREVIEW AND TONIGHT’S EPISODE?
This recap was written on Friday evening, I then decided not to post it because it was too late in the day. Then decided on Saturday I should just scrap it all together, then decided on Sunday that I should probably post it since it’s already been written, and now it’s Monday and what the hay! So below is the recap, hope you enjoy.
We started off last night’s episode with a little TMI involving Jill Zarin and her sick dog. Moving right along to Bethenny visiting Alex, and sharing her engagement news with her.Bethenny reveals Alex is the first person she’s telling, and plans on telling all the other housewives at a later date. It’s nice to see a genuine friendship developing between Alex and Bethenny, who would have thought? Who would have guessed? That’s the great thing about the housewives’ series, you never know what’s next to come.
Next up is a get together between the single women on the show, we get to see the Countess, Kelly and new housewife Samantha from Sex & the CitySonja Morgan meet up for drinks. Interestingly enough, all three of these women married much older rich men, and all three are still holding on to their last names. Sonja does what she does best, which is to blab about sex. Kelly attempts to downplay her past relationship with male gigoloMax, which is interesting considering she spent all of last season flaunting him around. I’m still on the fence about the addition of Sonja. Perhaps its because this season has been very interesting thus far, but I’m not really seeing what she adds. When you think about it, Bethenny, Ramona, Jill, Kelly, and even Alex are all one of a kind. I mean really, have you ever come across anyone like Ramona? The answer is likely no, but Sonja doesn’t seem to have that unique factor.Anyone who’s seen an episode of Sex & the City, knows this woman is a Samantha wannabe.
And how cute and funny was Kelly’s daughter when she decided not to talk to the cameras, but rather write down what was happening. Very cute scene.
The big event of the night came towards the end of the episode at Kelly’s event for Gotham magazine. For some reason, some of the ladies (Bethenny, Kelly and Alex) decided this was the night to sport their shortest attires.Bethenny’s one liner about what the ladies had on was priceless.“This was the party evidently that we were all told to wear a square of toilet paper and make an outfit out of it. I mean I literally, I didn’t have a top on, Kelly’s vagina was hanging out. Alex’s ass cheeks. Literally, it was like a yard sale of body parts,” said Bethenny. Seriously, it must be hard for one to hate Bethenny because love her or hate her, she will make you laugh!
On to this week’s recap, not much to write about so this will be brief. Will however touch on Jill Zarin’s appearance on Watch What Happens last night.
Ramona – Once again, we had another Ramonattack. Someone needs to let Ramona know her meds are meant to be taken daily, and not just when she feels like it. Her walk on the runway was simply priceless, and all the more surprising considering how serious she took it. Her comments to Jill at Jill’s event was unnecessary and uncalled for. It was absolutely the wrong time and place. She definitely needs a filter.
Kelly – I think I’m starting to see the issue with Kelly. She came on this season trying to be the fun and happy Kelly, which is making her appear rather inauthentic and weird. Her attempt to take Simon shopping and dress him, umm a bit weird. She’s more interesting when she’s being a real human being, such as during her argument with Ramona. And then we got the old Kelly back when she decided to mock Ramona in a elementary like tone after she walked away, really what person over the age of 10 does that?. Overall, I think I’m starting to get Kelly. She’s one of those people who simply lacks depth. She’s that person who can only be an acquaintance, and never a close friend because there simply isn’t much to her.
Bethenny – It was good to see Bethenny dealing well with her dad not wanting to see her. Not much on Bethenny this week, but did we really need to see her sitting on the toilet? Way TMI. Bethenny should have closed the door, and Bravo should have left that part out.
Jill – The mean Jill reared its ugly head once again on last night’s episode, making a lot of snarky remarks. However, her appearance on Watch What Happens was a must see last night. Seeing her talk in circles, make up excuses, all while being defensive was interesting to watch. According to Jill, the reason she was so cold to Bethenny was because she wanted them to make up off camera. Really Jill??? Can someone remind this woman that she is on a reality show that showcases her personal life and relationships? All of the things to not want on TV, why would making up with a friend be one of them? Yeah, it made no sense to me either.
