Amazing Race Winners

The finale episode of the Amazing Race season 17 aired last night and for the first time in the show’s history, an all female team won the competition.

Those history making ladies are Doctors Nat Strand, 31, and Kat Chang, 35. Nat and Kat beat out Brook Roberts and Claire Champlin and dating couple Thomas Wolfard and Jill Haney to win the $1 million prize.

During the one hour finale, the three teams had to bungee jump off a giant crane at the Port of Long Beach, decorate a float for the Tournament of Roses parade, and play a trivia contest with veteran game-show host Bob Eubanks.

And also for the first time in the show’s history, the race ended in Los Angeles. “It’s hard to believe, but this is the first time in our series history that we’ve ended the race in Los Angeles. Nothing like maneuvering your way to the finish line through L.A. traffic,” host Phil Keoghan told PEOPLE. “We have one challenge where teams literally have to face their fears and phobias in order to avoid choking with $1 million on the line.”

For this season, the finalists covered four continents, 30 cities and 32,000 miles. “This experience has totally bonded us, and no one will ever understand what we went through except these people,” said Kat to Nat. “You really are my sister, and this is something we’ll share for the rest of our lives,” she added.

The biggest surprise of the night however came in the form of Phil announcing the next season of TAR will be an all-star season! Even better, runners-up Brook and Claire, will be competing in the all-star edition. Other “fan-favorite” teams will include Cowboys Jet and Cord and goth faves Kynt and Vixsin.

The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business” will premiere Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 on CBS.

amazing race 16 finale

The Amazing Race finale aired last night with three teams vying for the top $1 million prize. In the finals were the cowboys, the models and the brothers.

So who came out on top? Well after a long race, which ultimately ended at the Candlestick Park in San Francisco, the Pious brothers, Daniel and Jordan (pictured far right), came out on top of the competition. Coming in a close second were the cowboys, which consisted of brothers Jet and Cord McCoy from Tupelo, Oklahoma.

The models and dating couple, Caite Upton and Brent Home, came in a distant third after having some issues with their imcompetent cab driver. The models however put the nail in their own coffin when they forgot to take their money and other items with them after leaving the Star Wars challenge, thus having to turn back around. That basically put them out of the competition.

The best part of the night came when model Caite attempted to apologize to the lesbian team, consisting of Carol and Brandy, only to have Brandy snap back at her. “I don’t want to hear sorry from you. You purposely whacked us,” said Brandy. Caite however handled the situation well, replying, “I’m the one standing here and not you.” This didn’t exactly come as a surprise because even in their post show interview, Brandy and Carol continue to hold a grudge.

Another controversy from the finale came when the Pious brothers cut in line, in front of the cowboys, at the airport. A number of fans feel this was a dirty move. Fortunately, it didn’t seem to matter, as the brothers were able to move up to first class during their flight to San Fran, thus putting them in first place.

Meghan Rickey and Cheyne Whitney win Amazing Race

The fifteenth season of the Amazing Race finale aired last night with dating couple Meghan Rickey and Cheyne Whitney emerging as the $1,000,000 winners.

Meghan, a 23-year-old account executive from San Diego, CA, and boyfriend Cheyne, a 23-year-old student also from San Diego, beat two other couples to the finish line by being quickest to count out $1 million worth of chips at a Las Vegas casino. Bickering brothers, Dan and Sam McMillen, who recently revealed to each other that they’re gay, came in second place. Finishing in third place were Ericka Dunlap, former Miss America 2004, and her husband, Brian Kleinschmidt.

“The whole experience in itself was life-changing, and the money is not even as important as what we got to do together. It was the perfect race. It could not have been any better,” said Cheyne.

“This is absolutely a dream come true,” Meghan said of her win.

The new and upcoming season of the Amazing Race started filming last week, and as we reported earlier, Big Brother’s Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd will be participating.
