Amber Portwood drugs

When most heard the very strict rules and guidelines laid out for Amber Portwood, via her probation, many assumed she would definitely break one of the rules at one point or another, but very few could have predicted she would be screwing up this quickly.

Just two weeks after a judge finally released her from jail to go live with her grandparents, the Teen Mom star has already broken one of her probation terms by failing to take a drug test.

According to TMZ, Amber, 21, has been doing great since her release, until Monday when she failed to provide a urine sample for her mandatory daily drug testing.

And those familiar with the law will tell you that a failure to provide a sample, automatically counts as a failed drug test, which could mean BIG trouble for Amber.

She was sentenced to serve five years in prison back in January for a drug conviction, with the judge suspending her sentence as long as she followed a very long list of rules and guidelines, which included home detention, a curfew, requirement to get a regular job, and enrollment in a halfway drug house.

Amber is due in court today for her weekly check-in, during which, she will be at the mercy of the judge. Legally the judge could decide to have her begin serving her five-year prison sentence, though that is unlikely to happen.

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON THE LATEST? ARE AMBER’S PROBATION RULES TOO STRICT? SURPRISED SHE’S SCREWING UP THIS EARLY?

It’s not easy being Teen Mom‘s Amber Portwood. And it’s about to get a lot harder. TMZ reports that Amber has pleaded guilty for her most recent December 19 arrest (she was caught with a bunch of prescription pills that did not belong to her). Amber plead to one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of probation violation. Before you think she will get off Lohan or Paris Hilton style, it turns out the agreement would still require Amber spend up to 5 years in prison.

That’s far, far away from the reality television lifestyle Amber has gotten used to. In order to avoid jail, Amber can instead go to rehab under one condition: if she fails a drug test, she will immediately be sent back to prison. Given her failure at meeting the terms of her previous probation, it’s possible Amber may flunk out of that program as well.

Amber, who’s been having a tough time behind bars and was even put on suicide watch, would do best to consider rehab and stay out of prison. She may even want to re-consider her recent statements that the show that made her a household name, Teen Mom, was “exploiting” her and that she wanted to leave the show. At this point, a new contract with the show would be her best option. I think she could do a spin-off with Dr. Drew, Amber Goes To Rehab.

There’s at least one not totally depressing news piece about Amber this week, Starcasm reports she’s not getting evicted of the house she doesn’t live in, because she’s in jail. Funny how that one worked out. Another hearing will be scheduled to determine how much money Amber owes her former landlord.

Amber’s plea bargain for her drug possession charges will go before a judge on February 6.
